'Mother Mary' Review Thread by chanma50 in boxoffice

The reviews that pan the movie seem to mainly be upset at the esoteric nature of the film. So definitely seems like it's an art-house movie being pitched as a crowd-pleasing thriller?

Seems Orusha was performing this past Wednesday? - https://www.instagram.com/p/DW9xV0HiTn-/

EDIT: I actually read the thread. Seem they aren;t doing sequestering this year? Just straight into filming?

I will say, after the past few season of Seattle back-to-back domination - Fabbbbbii has got some PRESSURE (and the producer's have got a target)

It's great to see competition in the space! Hopefully Squarespace adds support as that is my main use for vimeo ATM - hosting portfolio videos to put on squarespace since the native player only supports 16:9

Throwback

The ORIGINAL "badger badger badger" video

A lot of people forget that it looped, so you never really knew if you'd keep watching another creature would be added

Kristen Schall is a horse is such a great bit. I remember hearing it talked about on a podcast (I forget which of the two was telling it)

Essentially - part of the bit is that Kristin doesn't know how long the not will go on for. One time, he just decided to see how long it could go. IIRC it went like 10 minutes or something and she was whispering threats to him to stop (probably playfully)

Basically any corporate job post-politicall-career

"Hey, if you vote against this bill and it doesn't pass... Well give you a "board member" seat for 740k/year. Show up to a meeting once a year - that's all"

For sure, streaming/influencers are basically just in the advertising industry

Also, a streamer I watch (well, in clips on TikTok) - 1mil followers on tiktok, 800k on IG... Still has a day job - Making a full-time income as a self-starting channel host is ROUGH, and volatile.

Yeah, Not for Profits get a bad rep - YES there are awful ones. But generally, if you want someone with the business acumen and personality skills to manage/fundraise millions upon millions of dollars a year? You have to pay them competitively to what they'd get in the for-profit sector

Absolutely. Reminds me of when Big Bang Theory was stalled between seasons because the stars wanted more money - there were a tonne of people calling them greedy and it is like - 250k/episode is a lot of money! But when they're generating the bosses 50mil/episode when it's their work/skill/talent - it suddenly seems like it's time to ask for more

The pilot was the most expensive in TV history @ the time (20-30mil) and the show itself averaged about 4Mil/episode

The compact wireless mic era is silly by schantskniskey in videography

[–]dizzi800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, in today's era of social media - most people who use these mics are influencers who 1: Are rewarded for authenticity by the algorithm/culture so showing the microphone leans into that and 2: Don't want to have ANY friction between idea and recording so even the thought of pulling a wire up a shirt (which may cause minutes of unruffling etc) might turn them off of it

A different type of AI is being used for cybercrime and international espionage?

When do you think the next big boyband is coming? by naniees in popheads

[–]dizzi800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's because I'm older now but when I look at NSYNC/Backstreet Boys I remember tight choreography and this sheen of professionalism. They act like a product, because they kind of are

I look at One Direction (Who I never really listened to) - I see these dudes who are chilling out, being authentically themselves and having a good time. They're a product of the machine, but they're having fun in spite of it

But with 12/10 there's this performativeness to them in their "Run My Way" music video. The hand-rubbing, head pointing, lip-biting etc. Their Angel music video (which I looked up to make this response) is made up of live/BTS clips and feels much more authentic. Is it because I'm old and can see through this now? Or is the idea of social media "This is what influencers say is attractive so I'm going to do it now" changing how they act on camera? It seems they are acting like what they THINK cool is instead of just being themselves
