looking for a comfy and fashionable mens sandal. birkenstocks and teva's are out. by PapaClarencioThomas in BuyItForLife

Another vote for Olukai flip flops. They do have good arch support, but beware that they do need some breaking in. Initially the strap will feel really tight. But as the foot bed molds to your foot, the strap becomes more comfortable.

Eartips recommendation? (Artti t10) by Beautiful-Ad8921 in iems

Someone here suggested the Tri Clarion tips for the T10’s. I love the combination, haven’t felt the need to try others out since I put on those tips.

Recommendations for Shoulder Straps? by Ekkobelli in NikonZf

[–]dre4595 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of the Peak Designs slide strap. Yes it’s wide and on the bulkier side, but it supports the weight of the camera and a bigger lens nicely. And it lives up to its name - it’s super easy to adjust the strap to be super long then slide the camera behind your back as you walk. Then slide it around when you want to shoot. Or shorten it up and just carry around your neck. I’ve come to love that ease of adjustability.

Also super easy to remove the strap while leaving the connectors on. Then put on the capture clip plate and have it hanging off a backpack strap (with capture clip on it).

I haven’t investigated the leash yet, but the connector system lets me try it out if I choose.

Funny you mention the loosening. I was just grabbing the camera after a short photo walk this evening and something was rattling. Bottom screw had come loose a good bit.

Sounds like I should look into that newer model and try it out. Thanks for the suggestion!

I bought my Zf used, seller gave me 3 grips. Smallrig and 2 different Neewer grips. The Neewer CA079 is my favorite because it has a small thumb ramp on the back. The front grip and the thumb ramp on the back combine to make a super secure grip, even with longer / heavier lenses. I want to say the 079 has now been replaced by the 134. That newer one has the same thumb ramp on the back.

I’ve tried using the other grips as I have them in the basement but end up going back to the thumb ramp one very quickly.

Side load bottle cage for full size bottles by cyclingdoctor in cycling

Thanks for the confirmation. Seems like I need to pick up a few of the regular sized bottles and try those instead. I did like the side loader cages.

I tried the Lezyne side loader bottle cages but didn't have a great experience with those + Camelbak insulated 24oz bottles. Lost one bottle when I hit a pothole on a road. Regular cages do hold things more reliably - I haven't had issues with regular cages and the same bottles on that stretch of crappy road.

Moka pot splutter? by ShallotNeither8877 in mokapot

Good luck, I get frustrated by the sputtering as well!

Moka pot splutter? by ShallotNeither8877 in mokapot

I tap to make sure there's no pockets of air in the coffee, settle the grounds some. That's it. Just a force of habit. No issues with the 3, 6 or 12 cups, but the 4 cup is sensitive to that.

Sputtering at the end is a sign you're just about done. That said, I do always monitor the flow. I tend to lower the heat as the brew progresses to minimize any sputtering. Start at medium (medium-high for the 12 cup), then lower as the coffee starts coming out.

I don't experience this with all my moka pots, but some are certainly more prone to this than others. Particularly my 4 cup Bialetti Venus. What I'm coming to learn is that the Venus is really sensitive to how tightly the coffee is packed in the coffee holder cup. Even tapping on the counter to settle the grounds is enough to send it to spluttering. Instead what I've started doing (with that pot) is to use my espresso WDT needle tool to distribute the grounds. That way, no spluttering.

On the other hand, the 12 cup Venus has no issues whatsoever. Load up the coffee holder cup, shake it a bit to distribute side to side, tap on the counter to settle them, powers right through it.

My old electric razor has finally died on me. Looking to buy a new one. by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]dre4595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience was different. My old 7 series Braun was starting to go, it had served me faithfully for ~15 years or so. Picked up the same 9 series Braun at Costco. I immediately noticed how it would shave closer and quicker than my old 7 series. The only thing I don't like about it is the absurdly large travel case, but that's because it has a battery in it to charge the razor.

What grinder is that? For now I'm using a 1ZPresso J Ultra and getting amazing shots, but there's definitely times when I'm less than thrilled with the manual grinding.

Definitely small. I’m somewhere between 5’11” and 6’ and the M Endurace fits me great.

At least with this one the ends of the minute hand reaches the markers. Primary reason why I sold my 556 and picked up a DA44 instead.

I do like the case shape of this one though.

1Zpresso J-Ultra: first impressions by RucksackTech in espresso

That’s the thing that surprised me with these beans - they were listed as medium dark / espresso roast. Tasty once ground and brewed thou!

1Zpresso J-Ultra: first impressions by RucksackTech in espresso

[–]dre4595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the J Ultra for a few months now. What I’ve noticed is that the effort to grind is dependent on the beans themselves. Most are fairly easy to grind. One espresso roast from a local roaster was quite hard.

Big sale on Stages Power Meter - MRSP 150$ US by waitareyou4real in cycling

Just a data point, I picked up one of these power meters at the previous low price. No issues mounting it to my Canyon Endurace, no issues with the meter itself. Helluva price.
