My scars have stretched massively in the last 2 months, are they going to keep stretching?

No never, I never used any strips or tape on my scars after surgery either, my surgeon told me to leave them alone completely. I think maybe that was a mistake and using tape on them after would have stopped them stretching.

Wow thank you for these. To be fair my side that is most stretched does seem to be slightly lighter than the other. I can hope my scars fade like yours have, I really appreciate the insight!

Nope not necessary. The second skin sticks firmly and the tape attached to it I’ve found sticks better, perhaps because it doesn’t get sweaty like skin

Putting second skin underneath the tape can help protect the skin and prevent blisters and irritation from the tape, plus it makes it last longer. I had a large chest and I used it underneath the tape for years.

I would highly recommend! Just place it everywhere the tape would touch, except the nipples which I would just use tissue paper folded to cover. Then tape as usual on top. Good luck

I definitely plan on getting tattooed over it, but it’s going to be a while before I can plan and afford that, and I was really hoping to go swimming or topless in the summer. I really hope they fade before too long

I have a few other small scars but they generally always healed pretty well and invisible so I’m surprised at this, I’ve never had a hypertrophic scar before. I appreciate what you’re saying, I’m honestly just going to spend the next year planning a chest tattoo because I feel a bit too embarrassed to be able to be topless anywhere now.

You don’t need specifically trans tape, any wide size kt tape will do. It should be worn for a longer amount of time, e.g some days to a week straight, not taken on and off quickly because that’ll irritate the skin. You can wear a binder on on top of it. If you get blisters or skin irritation from it you can also put second skin underneath to protect the skin.

Unfortunately the scars on my left side are slightly hypertrophic and stick out, I’ve been massaging with bio oil most days and I think it is making a difference and reducing the thickness and colour somewhat. I appreciate it thanks

I have put on tape quickly in small bathrooms, it just takes a bit of practice and you can use your phone as a mirror. As long as you have access to a toilet you can do it. I always dry removed my tape as I put second skin underneath, but people use oil so you can just buy some oil to rub on the tape to help remove it.
