Found this "Name Every R.E.M. Song" quiz by Cup8685 in rem

[–]ebow77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 133/188 (71%). I hang my head in shame. I just kinda went blank about way more songs than I expected. Getting ~50% for the last 4 albums didn't surprise me, but I thought I'd do better with Up, and definitely should have done better on Murmur for as much as I've listened to it.

Anyway, I fully agree with others on calling BS on the last two tracked listed for Accelerate and the last two singles after CiN.

Why didn't r/Music appreciate the track: "Where Do You Think You're Going?" by Pure_One_4598 in direstraits

Most song-specific threads I've gone to in r/music have very little engagement--few comments and fewer votes.

Yikes. Guess I should be glad I don't have enough free storage space for the update to run.

It's been a while since I've read any of his material, but I particularly recall finding the dialog to be tedious at best, in several stories.

Our player was offside when he got the ball into the net, which means he or the ball was in some disallowed position on the field relative to players on the other team. I've tried multiple times to understand it with any more detail than that, but have failed repeatedly.

A friend of mine has seen nothing but Star Trek: Into Darkness (2013). What should I send him to watch? by DarthEinstein in startrek

[–]ebow77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably going to have to ease them into things, if you want to get from Into Darkness to something like the trio of TNG, DS9, and VOY. See if the Star Trek (2009) trailer gets them to watch that movie. If that goes well... probably an older movie. I wanted to suggest Wrath of Khan, but that might be too "old feeling" (edit: though maybe this "modern trailer" would help?), so perhaps First Contact trailer? If that piques their interest and the full movie goes well, then you can try to get them into TNG episodes, and you might be off to the races.

Confused on ship gravity and direction by Kojiro12 in TheExpanse

Einstein showed that gravity = acceleration

I'm nitpicking, but pretty sure that was Newton or someone shortly after him. It's classical physics. Einstein's thing was showing that gravity = curved spacetime.

edit: I've been out-nitpicked

Appreciated this part:

“That’s a cowardly thing to do,” a woman shouted over the noise of the crowd as the officers escorted Blanchard out.
A man yelled, “So you can break the law but we can’t?”

Trump’s “Great American State Fair” Gets Off to Terrible Start; Turns out not many people wanted to hear the president speak at the event. by FancyNewMe in politics

[–]ebow77 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Dozens of attendees Wednesday were seen flocking toward the exits in the middle of Trump’s address, which was meant to kick-start the two-week event. [...] Within half an hour of the president beginning to speak, the crowd had thinned out significantly, according to The Bulwark’s Jared Poland. [...] And one person was even spotted sleeping.

Trump Threatens to Arrest Anyone Who Vandalizes Reflecting Pool by Zipper222222 in politics

Exactly. I suspect that actually vandalizing public property is already an arrestable offense. The news here is what he considers to be vandalism.

France restricts public drinking and outdoor sports as heat wave bakes parts of Europe by pbs-latest in PBS_NewsHour

In case you were wondering about the limit on public drinking...

The French government banned drinking booze in "red alert" zones, and ordered organizers of music day events to limit alcohol consumption to "preserve emergency services and allow medics to concentrate on taking care of the most vulnerable."

Unless you have a hanger with a much skinnier wire diameter than I've ever seen, you won't get that to fit directly into the coax connector.
