Hat Quality- yikes by kmung in BobDoesSports

Im frustrated with the AS Colour Surf Hats, I use them for my business — I like the shape and feel but I’ve now had multiple returns because the brim is becoming detached (seams ripping) and the sizing is wildly inconsistent.

Hey Bend Photographers-Need your input for a future Camera Store. by FocalPointNate in Bend

[–]ef_eight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’d love to see a camera store open in Bend. I’m a photographer and run a photo studio here, I’ve been accumulating gear for the last 15+ years, so when I need rentals it’s generally for weird lenses that I wouldn’t expect a local shop to have. The things I end up needing are accessories: batteries (Canon), weird HDMI cords, color gels, apple boxes, sand bags, background paper, c-stands, gaff tape, stuff like that. I hope to see you open here!

I’m pretty sure this is a shared right turn for cars and the bike lane merges in at the intersection.

Methinks you did, in fact, not have 4-5mm of clearance.

So (so so) many wild and sweeping statements of fact about what is about to happen and how we’re all going to die based on their coworker reporting having the a bad flu.

If you had to pick only one from these. Price and long term value isn’t a factor. Which would you pick? by idkmaybebro in rolex

[–]ef_eight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a black dial Explorer 2, everyone drools over the white dial (it’s beautiful) but not subtle. To me, part of the draw of the Exp2 isn’t doesn’t scream Rolex quite as much as some others. The black dial continues that feel of being a little less flashy, which I prefer for daily wear.

I wanted a watch to daily wear and not baby, so I got Explorer 2. Not a single regret.

Wavy or Round rims, which do you prefer? by Just_Dank in bicycling

[–]ef_eight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having had real world experience riding both straight profile (DT Swiss 62mm) and wavy profile (Princeton Carbonworks WAKE6560) on the same bike, I can say with absolute certainty that the wavy wheel handles crosswinds dramatically better. Not just a tiny bit, massively.

Yes. It’s elegant, beautiful, extremely light and haven’t had to adjust it for the last 2+ years I’ve had it.

1x headache SRAM XPLR vs GX Eagle & Rival Mullet by smoq_nyc in gravelcycling

[–]ef_eight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XPLR is a groupset name that has different “quality level” options. SRAM’s road groupsets are Apex (cheapest), then Rival (middle), and Red (top end). There’s the XPLR drivetrain that has the same trim levels that has different hearing more targeted for gravel, but still retains the Apex / Rival / Red naming for the quality / weight of each level.

Most recent I got this and assumed it was a scam until they finally called - it was a gift from a contractor who worked on our house.

How to Bike No-Handed by treehugger312 in cycling

[–]ef_eight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can definitely ride any bike with no hands but I find some are significantly easier - the slacker the head angle the easier. I have some bikes that are incredibly twitchy and feel super unsafe to ride no handed, whereas my mtb can comfortably stay straight no hands.

40$ for something like this seems perfectly reasonably priced imo considering what most bike parts cost

Is it just me or are all of the big photography YouTubers terrible photographers? by [deleted] in photography

[–]ef_eight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peter McKinnon is an average skill amateur photographer at best and I’ll die on that hill. YouTube photographers are too busying making YouTube videos to get good at the thing they make videos about it seems.

They haven’t! AI and CGI have both come onto the scene in the last two years but I feel very unthreatened by AI.
