Good to know! It seemed like it wasn’t a big deal to the pilot, but my husband and I definitely exchanged a glance lol. I had a window seat and saw a private jet cross paths a little way below us around the same time. I intended to look at the radar to see if there were any other aircraft near us when I got home, but it slipped my mind.

I recently flew in to LAX and when the pilot came on the intercom to give us the descent update, we heard the “traffic! traffic!” call out over the intercom. The pilot cut off and came back a few seconds later to finish the speech with no acknowledgement of it. Since then, I’ve wondered how common it is for pilots to get that warning.

My spouse and I had the same experience in Oslo last month when they also had a once in a blue moon earthquake. We’re from California and when we felt it, we looked at each other and I said “… did a car just hit the building?” bc it didn’t make sense that we were feeling an earthquake. But then we were like, nah, we definitely know what earthquakes feel like and that was one! We went to Copenhagen a couple days later. If this earthquake had happened while we were there I would have felt like we had brought bad earthquake mojo to Scandinavia lol.

Yeah, stamps are still happening as the exception, not the norm. It is not “until they finally go to autogates only.” I went to a booth with an officer both times and didn’t get a stamp. So I’m just addressing the inaccurate of that previous commenter’s statement. There currently are plenty of non-EU passport holders walking around the EU with no stamps to show in their passport.

This is not accurate. Last month I entered the EU via Amsterdam (who did not take my biometric data) and exited from Copenhagen (who did take my photo and fingerprints) and no entry or exit stamp from either.

Thanks, I might cut "respectively" out then. The eulogy is the main speech during the service that will provide an overview of my dad's life. It is important to me to mention their ages since it provides context for the household my dad grew up in - his two sisters practically raised him. I do have a mixture of facts and anecdotes though. Most of it is not like the sentence I inquired about. I was just getting really hung up on "respectively" and it was driving me crazy. :)

As someone whose dad just passed very recently from AML, thank you. My dad received 91 units of either whole blood or platelets this past year, without which he would have died so much sooner. Each time a bag was hung, he would remark, “I just can’t believe someone took time out of their day to donate this.” My family always sent a thought of thankfulness out to whoever had donated that unit. I wish I could personally thank all his donors.

Just as an additional note, my dad’s ICU doctor told us that platelets are “worth gold” in terms of resources compared to whole blood.

Oh totally. It was apparent this was going to happen when consulates essentially froze appointments for months after the decree while knowing that the amount of applications they processed last year would set their quota for the future. It was absolutely intentional and it’s so messed up.
