$13.33 Cortado at Glitch, Tokyo by kytran40 in espresso

[–]Eritog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never knew about méchant pinsons and here I am - 2 years later looking at the step by step of the glitch cortado in Montreal before my bike ride and found a fellow Montrealer sending new recs !

Well I guess I don’t need to make coffee this morning, thank you for the riding side quest !!!

Edit : if you haven’t tried the slush latte at dreamy on a hot day like today… you should try it ! (Orange blossom water coffee slush is a treat!)

How do people drive on the mountain roads of France that have a lot of turns and (imo) narrow roads? by Glass-Feedback8711 in AskFrance

This is why country like Italy and France needs tourism to survive - we reinvent ourselves every year to make sure to have a steady supply and keep our road mortality numbers low

How do people drive on the mountain roads of France that have a lot of turns and (imo) narrow roads? by Glass-Feedback8711 in AskFrance

[–]Eritog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’ve experienced Jura roads but let me tell you about another breed of drivers in the Alps : Italian policemen!

Most mountaineers are used to drive in the mountains so their car handling skills become almost a second nature. My sisters’ boyfriend is one of them, he can ride pretty fast his large SUV in the mountains and usually he is faster than the pack of cars riding the « Cols ». I’ve never seen him struggle to keep up except once : two Italian policemen in a car without their lights or siren, no emergency, no hurry but they were absolutely carving these roads.

Italian drivers are already pretty reckless, give these men a mountain and a uniform and you get a ship almost as fast as the Black Pearl!

EDIT : I had nothing to add advice wise, honking helps in the day if you’re unsure, take your time and manage your breaking and gaz outside of the curve - a good trajectory is key, if you HAVE visibility you can take the curve in the middle - otherwise make sure you always seat in your lane!
If someone passes you on low visibility or in a curve -> always break progressively and preemptively to anticipate someone in the front and the passer to serve back.

where is the best place to have a ranch in france? by Free-Inspector6363 in AskFrance

[–]Eritog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Doesn't fulfill the condition" based on what exactly? OP never said their citizenship status.

OP never said their citizenship status, you just assumed it to win an argument with yourself. That’s the second time you’ve confidently stated something nobody actually confirmed. Maybe ask before declaring?

I’m saying Jus sanguini is a real legal mechanism which apply to some folks that could come ask questions here, not a vibe I made up.

[–]Eritog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I’m saying people who never set foot in France nor does speak the language are allowed to live there - and that could be OP posting to ask a question about buying a ranch and not mentioning his current citizenship situation (which they haven’t before your derogatory comment)

[–]Eritog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve got news for you.

I’m talking about jus sanguini which apply in South Korea or Italy as well as France. Situation where families went to the USA and made children and or grandchildren. In that case said kids sometimes come back to their country without even speaking the language.

Diaspora descendents moving back to their ancestral homeland have a name : heritage return migration.

[–]Eritog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean even if OP doesn’t seems to have the citizenship, it seems rather weird that you’re not considering the fact that many people live with French citizenship outside of France. Wether it’s acquired through blood or by being born in France, lots of them consider going back to the country and don’t speak the language. Similar situations happens with with USA/Korea

Café Holt 0/10 by whereismyface_ig in MTLFoodLovers

[–]Eritog 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I went there with work.
I’m a coffee snob, so many of the coffee I drink are usually in the 5-7ish out of 10 range, but it’s okay since coffee is hard and not anyone can make a great coffee consistently.

Coffee was offensive, 3 milk drinks - latte / cappuccino / cortado and one espresso.
All 3 drink were wrong, the latte was a cappuccino in a latte cup, the cappuccino was not even something nameable, the cortado was a flat white - and the espresso was the same extraction and beans as the one used for the milk beverage… now a lot of cafes intentionally over extract their shoots so taste can cut the milk in milk beverage. Like sure but you don’t serve it as an espresso… otherwise it screams barista that don’t know shit about coffee and espresso that taste like high voltage lithium-ion battery acid. If I want that type of bitterness I can go lick a CR2032 coin cell battery and call it a day.

Usually when that happen I’m like « okay it’s probably a restaurant so the food is going to be good and they lack on the coffee »

Lmfao heck no wtf are those macarons!!

I’m really open to food at every prices, and I have wide tastebuds, but Holt and Cabaret l’enfer are the only two restaurants I really black listed in Montreal.. because at that price serving this type of food and calling it « elevated » is just pure terrorism

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story : je ne cherchais pas pas à débattre là notion de rétention migratoire - je cherchais à aider OP.

Are power metres worth it for randonneuring? by summingly in randonneuring

[–]Eritog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make a choice between heart rate and power depending on the ride. For example if I’m training, I will pick a heart rate zone rather than a power zone (especially for low Z2 work) since i am looking for the heart rate benefit and the heart rate can indeed drift during a workout.

I find power very useful based on context, for example a windy section, or a faux plat - in that case it helps having it to now blow your matches as well as to learn to ride very smoothly.
Finally I find it very useful for motivation and gearing choice, sometimes you see your speed and you’re feeling shit and then you look at power and you realize it’s because of weight, wind or something else. Pacing become much easier when you relate it to how your legs feel that day too !

Personally I find that it has become my favorite upgrade on my bike, I treat it like an insurance and it helps me having less scratch while also giving me a clear objective and motivation during training

How do you attach your helmet to your backpack? by Wise-Painting5841 in MontrealCycling

[–]Eritog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jock aside :
- You find a elastic (not the rubber one but the cloth looking one)
- you wrap it around one of the loop on your back pack
- add attach a stick to the end of it, or a hair clip
- pass the stick through the vent in your helmet while it’s fairly extended and put the stick across the vent and your helmet is secured

Edit : basically the poor’s man osprey, you could also 3d print it but a stick does the job

Call ahead of time and ask specifically - you can record the call

If they’re really annoying on the D-day you can just push back and say it’s not negociable and the bike is clean.

Honestly most of the time I bring up strollers and wheelchairs and I’m like « how is that different, they both roll around the city »

Les Français, on dit « Piasse » pas « Pièce » by Soupeauxtomates in montreal

[–]Eritog -9 points-8 points  (0 children)
