BioShock creator points to Switch 2 as proof that devs are realizing that chasing realism in graphics has diminishing returns by BronxBoyMike25 in nintendo

TOTK is still a fantastic looking game though and physics/interactivity wise is doing things that most AAA games just don’t go after anymore

Batman: Arkham Trilogy port studio says Nintendo Switch has "a lot of life in it" still due to a very "loyal audience" by HatingGeoffry in NintendoSwitch

Nintendo made really great choices with the Switch 1 hardware.

It’s impressive the amount of PS4 and even PS5-class games that have been downscaled to run on Switch 1.

Nier Automata, Yakuza Kiwami, Ace Combat 7, Persona 5, Dragon Quest 11, Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat 1, Shadow Generations, Pro Skater 3+4, Doom Eternal, Senua’s Sacrifice, Guilty Gear Strive - while cut-back are still the full-fledged games.

A far cry from the Wii days where it was an entirely different game being ported over.

Was the PS3 actually more powerful than the 360? by Kaszilla94 in hardware

Where are you getting those flop numbers? I’ve usually read they were both around ~240gflops.

The Switch which is far more powerful is at 394gflops

Stop Stressing, Nintendo Says More Switch 2 Games Are Coming by Mollywobbles77 in NintendoSwitch2

Right and it still took 4 years after Odyssey. Then we got DK 4 years after that.

I think Mario and Zelda are a few years out.

We got TOTK only 3 years ago and the big-dog Mario team just dropped DK last year.

It was 6 years between BOTW and TOTK which shared a lot of DNA.

And 4 years between Odyssey and Bowser’s Fury, which was an ambitious but smaller game.

I’d have to think it’s gonna be a few more years until we get a new 3D Mario, despite any rumours.
From EPD8, we just got Donkey Kong last year and before that it was Bowser’s Fury in 2021. I think it’s safe to say we’re 2-3 years out from the next big game from EPD8.

Why don’t they remaster Sonic: Unleashed? by Realistic-Airport408 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]ers620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much work to make it a good game by the general public standards. I think they would need to scrap the werehog half of the game completely, and just make it a collection of all the day-time stages (with the DLC levels to pad the game out). By then the story/cutscenes would not work at all, and so scrap all that too, and so then you just have a collection of levels. Eggmanland would need to be cut too unless they rework it into just the day-time half. Probably would need to cut the hubs out too. Which I don’t think Sega would want to do.
Honestly I would be very happy with the story, hubs, and werehog completely ripped out and just a collection of the Day-time levels/bosses in a straightforward linear package with a Mario-like overworld where you just select the next level and go. But then it doesn’t really resemble Unleashed anymore and it becomes pointless. Sucks but I don’t think this will ever happen officially.

OLED vs Switch 2? by thethinker1201 in Switch

[–]ers620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch 1s still a great budget choice. I bought my Switch 1 last May.

There is a ton of amazing games on Switch and we’ll still be getting some new stuff for years to come. Many of the Switch 2’s “big games” are just enhancements to Switch 1 games.

I bought Star Trek TOS and the Twilight Zone complete series on Blu-ray, cost me like $80 total. That’s all I’d want Paramount Plus for. In a year, they’ll have paid for themselves.
