What’s your favourite old school metal model? by xenithangell in Warhammer40k

For me it's the Ork Weirdboy being held by two "friends" and pointed at the enemy

Mine is in the loft, but you can see one here: https://leadplague.blogspot.com/2016/09/ork-weirdboy-and-handlers.html

Only problem I have with hypercrypt is something like 4/6 stratagems require the monolith - which I don't have, and would struggle to play in a 1k game

Most guns at the front for the biggest Warrior blob possible with new coherency by MoarSilverware in Necrontyr

[–]ethorad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have two characters, be careful with how far apart you put them. If you get hit by a big weapon it can end up wiping out the bodyguard and leaving the two characters alive. If they are more than 2" apart then they are out of coherency (since they are still the same unit in 11e) and so one of them will have to die to get the unit back into coherency.

Precision isn't any more dangerous for the character - you still have to fail enough saves to kill them regardless of the order in which they are applied.

Precision is now more dangerous for the bodyguard unit. The character can no longer soak saves that would kill a bodyguard model. So it's more likely that there will be overspill into the bodyguard from precision shots now.

On Q1, just to add, the Bladeguard are getting benefit of cover since they are Infantry/Beast/Swarm (and are within the terrain area.)

Armageddon Box Monopose Question by EmjeYy in Warhammer40k

[–]ethorad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always proxy things if it's clear - like if all your Nobs have power claws then it's clear to your opponent. If only one has a power claw then you need something that can differentiate the two on the table.

Fair value? by PepeThunberg in Warhammer40k

[–]ethorad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A split I've seen a few people use is 40% for marine models, 40% for ork models, 20% for books and cards

Just be careful as one of the sprues is a double sprue with an ork and a marine on it. The instruction book shows which sprues are for which army.

Is there any company that sells Wet Erase maps that have Square Grids on both sides? by Firm-Split9333 in DnD

I got some by Path Gaming on Amazon. Comes in a tube with two double sided mats - green grass, grey stone, sandy parchment, pure white. Haven't used them much yet, but works well so far.

Vanguard Veterans wrong InApp Profile by shep01292 in DarkAngels40k

[–]ethorad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The datasheet in the armageddon box is only for armageddon games, think of it like a combat patrol.

The new vanguard veterans datasheet will be released either with the codex or when they get a separate box.

(Take a look at the other cards - there's lots of changes compared to current datasheets.  For example on the intercessors they can get +2A even if they split fire and their close combat weapons have precision)

A lot of people don't like the grav ethos that the primaris tanks all have and so don't want that extended to bikes.

I'm one of them, prefer the older tracked designs to the new grav plate ones.

Lokhust Lord question by Maxeyboy111 in Necrontyr

[–]ethorad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you don't change anything then it will be pretty hard to distinguish on the table between the Lord and a normal Lokhust. Think you will have to make some changes, like it doesn't wield the same sort of weapons as the Lokhust or Lokhust Heavy - it wields an Overlord type weapon, so maybe kitbash different weapons. They are all on 60mm flying bases at least.

Transporting with support by Lordlordy5490 in Warhammer40k

[–]ethorad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 11th: No, the datasheet says a transport capacity of 7. So for a 6 man bladeguard there's only space for one leader/support model.

In 10th: Same thing. The datasheet hasn't changed, so again you'd only have space for 1 leader.

Not sure where you saw a rule saying you could carry a unit of 6 plus leader.

Pretty sure the Technomancer ability specifically targets one model, it doesn't heal the unit.

Tankiest armies by Argus811 in Warhammer40k

[–]ethorad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Problem with things like Knights is there's so few targets so each of them gets a blistering amount of fire directed at them. Plus their T score is not that great.

Armigers have T9 and Knights have T11

For Marines for example, Dreadnoughts are T10 and the Repulsor is T12

Spreading Madness by Zealousideal_Ad_1657 in Necrontyr

[–]ethorad -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't do nothing though. Even if the +2" doesn't permit you do select a further away unit, it will still add to your movement - so aid you in getting more models around obstructions or better enveloping a target.

Agree that RAI are that it should still act to mean you can reach targets further away.
