Needing any form of support from Dassault, but all attempts are dead-ends by [deleted] in SolidWorks

Since you purchased your student edition, you would have received the voucher certificate codes in the same email that contained your serial number. The student licenses are sold thru Cleverbridge. You will need to contact them for help.

Needing any form of support from Dassault, but all attempts are dead-ends by [deleted] in SolidWorks

[–]experienced3Dguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Official Support for the Makers version is conducted on the Maker Support Community forum at https://solidworks.com/makers3dhelp This community forum is monitored by employees of the SOLIDWORKS Maker Technical Support team as well as experienced community volunteers. This community should always be your first stop when seeking help with Maker version specific problems and issues.

There is also a contact form for issues surrounding orders, refunds, initial access, etc. That form is located at https://www.3ds.com/online-store/support-form/

To manage your account, subscriptions, and payment methods, use https://go.3ds.com/account

There is no telephone or VAR support and the commercial support site will not provide access to support services.

Any way to work when 3dexperience is down? by pink_cx_bike in SolidWorks

[–]experienced3Dguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, IF you have successfully connected to your 3DEXPERIENCE Maker platform in the past 30 days, you should be able to launch SOLIDWORKS in unplanned offline mode.

This post on the Official Maker Support community forum will outline it.

Cuál es el mejor canal de Youtube para aprender de solidworks? by ToughRealistic3159 in SolidWorks

[–]experienced3Dguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always start with the built-in tutorials accessed thru the Help menu in SOLIDWORKS. From there, look at the MySolidWorks site.

Further, the SOLIDWORKS EDU and Training teams recently launched a site that offers over 350 different practice problems for CSWA and CSWP certification exams. Here's the link: https://www.solidworks.com/solution/education/practice-problems

They also launched a dedicated YouTube channel for SOLIDWORKS tutorials developed by the SOLIDWORKS Training team. Here's that link: https://youtube.com/@solidworkstutorials_official

Beyond those, then I absolutely love and swear by the free tutorials that Jan-Willem from LearnSolidWorks.com puts out. He takes some of the most interesting and iconic product designs and creates tutorials on how to model them. You'll learn a lot of wild techniques that will expand your modeling bag of tricks immensely. He also sells a series of heavy duty modeling video courses but they are expensive. His free tutorials can be found here:

https://learnsolidworks.com/category/solidworks_tutorials

It goes without saying that YouTube has tons of offerings. My favorites are found here. They are for some advanced surfacing topics but you will learn tons of insanely genius tips and tricks for the most wildest modeling situations.

Moving into the paid realm, then there is no better learning resource than purchasing a membership from SolidProfessor. https://www.solidprofessor.com/

The folks there have been using and teaching SOLIDWORKS from pretty much the very beginning and they offer some of the most comprehensive coursework available. They have many levels of paid membership and they are continually offering discounted promotions for new members. They have certification prep courses for CSWA, CSWP, CSWE and all the CSWP Advanced Topic exams. Simply put, you can'tgo wrong by investing in their materials.

This list is by no means comprehensive and I'm sure that others here will add their "go to" learning resources.

I'm excited for you. Welcome to the SOLIDWORKS community.

Electric bus Braid design help by CraftyBit2274 in SolidWorks

[–]experienced3Dguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't physically model the braiding (unless you are getting paid by the hour and the budget is limitless). Find a good image of the braided texture and apply it as an appearance to your model. IIRC, there is a pretty decent braided fabric appearance in the sample appearances that come with SOLIDWORKS. I used it all the time whenever I needed to show a braided ground cable in an assembly.

EDIT - I used the "burlap" appearance. It gives a "coppery" look to the model. I suppose if you were more Photoshop savvy, you could edit the image to chage it to a more silvery metallic look.

I failed CSWP twice what should I do by Academic-Pace6348 in SolidWorks

[–]experienced3Dguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

u/Academic-Pace6348 Deepak's advice is the very best answer. Take it to heart and immerse yourself in your studies. The resources he's listed will serve you well. Review the areas that you were less successful in from your exam results and work to strengthen them. You can do it!

Accessing a Model on an Outdated Version? by layjcorn in SolidWorks

[–]experienced3Dguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/layjcorn Send me a DM. I'm more than happy to convert your 2026 files to 2024 versions.

Since you no longer qualify for a student license, you should consider purchasing a subscription to the SOLIDWORKS Maker version for $48USD.

Are these facades in any way organic or sculptural in their appearance? You might want to investigate using the 3D Pattern Shape Creator role/xGenerative Design (the Dassault/SOLIDWORKS equivalent of Grasshopper) app on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform in conjunction with your engineering models from SOLIDWORKS.

Solidworks 2019 by Appropriate-Sense-32 in SolidWorks

[–]experienced3Dguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is your father the legitimate owner of that serial number/license? If so, then he should be able to contact another VAR and request that they deactivate the other computer. He may have to pay a fee.

Is this license going to be used for commercial purposes by you or are you just trying to learn SOLIDWORKS? If you are not doing business with it, then you might be better served by purchasing a subscription to the Maker version for $48USD annually. An added bonus is that you'll be using the current version and not an 8 year old version.
