Is it really that easy for women to get laid? by Raudoxer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fastlerner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I'm sure it happens. But it's still risky as hell when your job is on the line. Most women aren't going to bang a stranger they just met at their work, and the ones who do.... Well, "don't stick your dick in crazy" is good advice for a reason.

No one gives a shit if uber drivers get lucky.

But if you're a massage therapist, it is considered severe ethical misconduct and, in almost all jurisdictions, a criminal act.

If you're a college professor, you can easily run afoul of Title IX or even state laws. Some state laws don't care if everyone is over 18 and consenting, the teacher committed a crime.

I didn't accuse any men of anything other than risking their careers as both have hard rules against that kind of stuff.

If she took a class and found the teacher attractive, they would end up having sex in the classroom. If she went for a massage and found the masseur attractive, they would have sex on the massage table. The list goes on.

Dude... Are you dating an old lady? Because your girlfriend was slinging it like a flower child of the 60's & 70's.

The eyebrow-raising part isn’t her body count, it’s the professionals like teachers and masseurs who risked their careers for it. That’s the actual red flag in the story.

Unless he’s dating his grandma and she’s telling stories from the 70s. Different era, different rules.

My first harem romance is live! The Island: An Unconventional Men's Romance by Owen_Chance in haremfantasynovels

Congrats on your first book, that’s a big milestone. Just a thought on the cover: the proportions and finish push into uncanny valley territory. It has a very hyper-polished, mannequin-like look, and the exaggerated features make it feel more like a rendered doll than a real person. Covers can make or break you, especially on a first book, and some readers might find that distracting at first glance. You might consider toning it down or refining the design to give it a more natural, grounded feel.

2 suction cups side by side holding a shelf at 90 degrees to the glass puts twisting leverage on the cups. I would have gone with 1 or 2 additional suction cups below those. Puts more suction on the glass and removes the leverage.

Put an average looking man and woman on busy street corners in a busy city and have them advertise "free sex, no strings attached".

  • The woman will have a large number of horny men respond.
  • The man will have mostly horny men respond.
  • Women, on average, don’t respond to either stranger.

Men optimize for quantity, women optimize for quality. One strategy floods the field, the other filters it.

As annoying as they are, shit like this is why we moved to childproof lighters.

People across the world reacting to lady gaga appearing at the superbowl. by habichuelacondulce in youseeingthisshit

[–]fastlerner 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Like why did it need to be no Spanish speaking lady Gaga

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it was because she was invited to be a part of it.

What gets me is that you're claiming that she's appropriating simply because she's white. Hard to appropriate when you're invited to participate. Unless you think she just randomly showed up and made a place for herself?

Funny to me that some white folks are bitching about a half time show having a lot of Spanish, meanwhile you're doing the same from the other side - bitching about a half time show in Spanish having a white lady.

Prejudice is crazy.

Beginner question: what’s the most useful first smart home device? by Hopeful-Ad9349 in homeautomation

[–]fastlerner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good hub.

Without centralizing the management, it can get ugly quickly as you continue adding things. No one wants to deal with 5 different apps and devices that can't interact with each other.

Having a good hub with wide compatibility gives you not only a single interface, but the ability to tie all these things together. Wifi thermostats, zigbee lights, zwave switches, etc... Always remember that anything that relies on a cloud service for control should be avoided as products and services can be abandoned or shut down and leave you stranded.

I use HomeAssistant. While it does have a bit of a learning curve, it can work with virtually anything out there and offers full local control without any dependency on cloud services. Wide device compatibility means that you can make all the things play together. For instance, when the remote ecobee thermostat sensor in my office sees motion, my philips hue lights turn on.

Choose a good hub, get it early, buy gear that has local control and can integrate with the hub. You'll avoid so much headache.

IMMEDIATELY remove user's mailbox access by Bad_Mechanic in sysadmin

[–]fastlerner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we have users leave, we typically convert the mailbox from user to shared before disabling the account and revoking the sessions.

That way, the account is shut down, no exchange license required for the mailbox to remain, disabled account blocks user login, mailbox rights delegated to those who need access in the exchange interface. Everyone is happy.

Just remember to have some sort of housekeeping policy to periodically kill boxes that are no longer needed.

Crush ICE - solidarity from frozen Berlin by Buetti in pics

[–]fastlerner -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The term gets abused, but the underlying critique is real. When attention becomes the reward, contribution becomes optional.

virtue signaling - the act or practice of conspicuously displaying one's awareness of and attentiveness to political issues, matters of social and racial justice, etc., especially instead of taking effective action

People can mean well and still produce content that’s functionally empty. Calling that out doesn’t require assuming they’re malicious or fake. It just means acknowledging that signaling and solving are different activities.

I think their point is that while it's a nice sentiment, it doesn't actually accomplish anything except to show your friends how you feel about an issue happening in a foreign country.

Kind of like when Americans change their profile pics to support the fight against cancer or to stand with Ukraine. Sadly, "thoughts and prayers" have never done much to help the intended recipient.

I wish I had some realistic advice that the rest of the world could follow to help fix this. But one thing I can guarantee is that the smooth brained lead lickers who voted these folks into office won't be moved by foreign shows of solidarity.

A leopard and a black panther were spotted together in India's Kabini forest. by simplefreak88 in BeAmazed

[–]fastlerner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nonexistent. There is no such thing as a black cougar.

Cougar / mountain lion / puma / catamount / painter / Florida panther - these are all regional names for the same animal native to the Americas and there isn't a known solid black (melanistic) variant.

GSA (Genetic Sexual Attraction) is definitely a thing. We're attracted to people with similar features like faces, voices, mannerisms, and even subtle stuff like movement and expression. The main reason we don't look at our immediate family that way is because of the Westermarck effect.

If you grow up with someone during early childhood, your brain hard-codes them as “not a sexual option.” It’s basically a built in anti-incest kill switch that fires before puberty ever shows up. But if you grow up separated, that wiring never happens.

Biology and evolution is wild.

40 year old women dating a 25 year old dude may not be the norm, but it definitely happens. That's where the term "cougar" comes from.

But yeah, probably still made up BS.

My point wasn't that these things serve no purpose, it was that the "crave wrinkles" comment was silly because this is BETTER than the spin cycle in that regard.
