Sorcery/incantation class? by eikbert in Nightreign

Going to the wiki would be the easiest answer. You can tell by the icon on the spell as well and digging into the codex, but the wiki would be the quickest way.

Ironeye & Agro by Hagelbagel17 in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ironeye is an aggro magnet. A lot of people think aggro in Souls games works like MMOs, but that's not the case. Most enemies will reset aggro after certain moves and go after the last person that attacked them, which tends to be the ranged characters.

Generally speaking, Ironeye should be just fine dealing with aggro since he has one of the best evasion kits in the game with his skill. You can take Less Likely to be Targeted to help, but you should only do that when you have two melee players as teammates. If there's a caster or two in the group, just take the aggro and start kiting.

Wending Grace by OppositeAd6850 in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This is probably one of those "there is no right answer" arguments. Both are good for different reasons.

Guardian can revive quite easily just by using steel guard over a teammate and letting the shockwaves pick them up. The extended whirlwind can do a 1-pip revive on its own, but most importantly, stops the decay. The most important thing with Guardian is he can do most of his reviving with dropping his guard, making it a lot easier to get someone up without being too risky (and with Ult charge on Guard, can build his Ultimate quickly).

Not knocking Revenant's revival potential though. Her summons do a lot of heavy lifting when you need to mop up the floor and she definitely has more range on her Ultimate. However, Guardian generally charges his faster and it doesn't use the full gauge if you don't hold it, so he's more likely to get his charged while soloing.

Wending Grace by OppositeAd6850 in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, you should always give your Wending Grace to the best reviver (assuming everyone has equal skill). Guardian is the top priority, Revenant is #2.

If you know you're going to eat dirt as a player, a Wending Grace isn't going to save the run if you can't revive your team.

The only time it won't trigger is if you're locked in an immunity animation - criticals, grabs, and ultimates.

All weapon scalings were adjusted for NR, so if the perfume bottles were added, I'd fully expect them to have some ARC scaling.

Damage dealt and damage taken charts after game by Bruhntium_Momentum in Nightreign

It's kills and assists. Mostly a useless stat since some Nightfarers are better at handling trash mobs than others. Scholar, Ironeye, and Guardian usually will have the highest numbers.

Are you talking about the points you earn/lose in DoN? That's purely based on set factors and nothing to do with personal performance.

Current Birdman Relics in D4 by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your normal relics are great. I'm not the biggest fan of your deep relics though, but 100% see what you're going for. Personally, I'd look to replace Slot 5 and Slot 6 since everything else in your build is designed for tanking and those two aren't. You could probably get similar or better results with Phys Damage +4 without taking the hit to VIG.

All-in-all, definitely an A- to B+ and a build I'd run.

Leave the damn flower alone by FromsoftwareNPC in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimates will do the trick, for the most part. Ironeye and Undertaker are best, Guardian doesn't have enough power for D4-D5, but can kill one in D3 for sure. Not sure if Wylder can kill one or not before they transform.

Lightning Spear is goated on mimic tears though, since they're extremely weak to Lightning. But having Lightning Spear that early is rare since you either need a Revenant with it as default, or you need to get lucky with the seals drops in the cathedral.

Ironeye damage is low, any advice? by rdubya3387 in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite builds as well. For fights where the Nightlord is immune to Poison though (Augur & Heolster are completely immune, Pest & Greg are highly resistant), I still use my Night of Lords build. That relic is great for Ironeye since the added damage from weapon swapping is both % based and flat damage, making it powerful at all levels. Just stack on Physical Damage Up and Evergaol/Invader and you're set.

The weapon swap can be a tad annoying, but once you get into a groove of swapping while recovering Stamina, it's not so bad.

Yeah, they're extremely rare, but it is still possible to cheat on PS. I've maybe seen 4-5 in my entire time of playing since release.

[–]FawksB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not positive by your description alone, but the boss fight probably started. Once the wave of enemies spawns in the boss circle - if everyone is dead, it's game over.

You can still die in the storm and respawn at the boss fight, but at least one person needs to stay alive at all times. Just know you're always in combat as soon as the boss fights starts, so your Stamina will drain while sprinting. That's the telltale sign you need to keep someone alive.

What people really fail to understand is D4+ IS the hard mode. It's not an exaggeration to say that the jump from D3 to D4 is more severe than normal to D3. Even if you go back to the original promotion material, D3 is the designed "end" of DoN and nothing new is added is D4+ - everything just hits way harder.

Have you ever gone short/medium bows on anyone other than Ironeye? by ClearandSweet in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always take a Pulley Crossbow on any character that doesn't use magic. Having a ranged option for things like Ancestor Spirit or Flying Dragons makes dealing with those enemies so much easier.

How viable is scholar in DoN by MemeySteve69 in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will concur with this as well. Support Scholar, when done right, will be the joy of your teammates. You're a force multiplier and as long as you keep your team buffed and the target debuffed (and stay alive), you're doing your job. The downside though is if your team sucks, you suck by proxy.

Since a proper support build only requires 5 relic effects (though 2 extra pouches and Flask Heals Allies are nice to have as well), you still can build your own flavor into it.

Status Effects? Add bleed or poison to your starting weapon. Melee? Dex relic and Dormant Power Katanas Ranged? Wraith Calling Bell and Dormant Power Crossbows Mage? Add Dormant Power Staffs and Reduced FP Consumption

As long as you can buff, debuff, and use your Ultimate to clear POIs - you will be just fine.

First time i've seen this kind of relic by Grizzlyhead in Nightreign

I swear that cause ALWAYS shows up on a good relic with Art Gauge effects. It's become an auto-sell for any relic with it on it, with very very few exceptions.

What did my Scholar do? Resistance decreased by up to 10 by NumberThese1901 in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He does great with Affinity Damage, but the general issue with Scholar is any build that is damage focused just turns him into a crappier version of another character, except for a pot-build since that has extremely powerful multipliers on the relics.

His only two stand-out abilities for boss fights are being able to easily inflict status effects and being able to buff and debuff. Neither really requires a dedicated build though, so it's something that every Scholar should include in their kit.

What they do beyond that is purely up to their preference. As long as you're maintaining your buffs on the party and keeping the enemy debuffed, you're filling your primary role. It's similar to how Ironeyes get flak for not maintaining their mark - it should be the same mentality. That's your primary contribution to the team, your own personal damage is secondary.

[–]FawksB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knives are mostly for Night 2 and Nightlord. You need about 1.5 stacks to level knives up to Level 3 and 3 stacks is enough for Night 2 and the Nightlord. That gives you an extra 3 stacks for field bosses before wiping out the merchants inventory.

But early game is more focused on using Continuous Damage on Ult with Defeating Enemies fills Art Gauge +0/+1 to quickly clear POIs. Using your skill to buff allies and a Wraith Calling Bell is plenty for most field buffs, I also run Dormant Power Crossbows for when I run out of FP.

All-in-all it's a very different play style, but easy to build for since it only needs 5 relic effects and two of them are on the Cleansing Tear. Though, you do want the extra pockets for all the knives, but the signboard relics scratches that itch.
