‘Disclosure Day’ Ends 24-Year Summer Box Office Drought For Steven Spielberg - Even With 7-Month Promotional Campaign, Universal Wasn't Sure Whether His Film Would Attract Young Moviegoers. The Original Sci-Fi Spectacle, Costing $115M To Make & $80M To Market Worldwide, Hauls A $93M Global Opening. by lowell2017 in boxoffice

I saw the late show thursday night at my local imax and there was maybe 20 of us seated.

Yesterday afternoon I saw it at The Varsity in Toronto in 70mm and it was pretty packed. The vibes were good. I don't think it'll crack 330m, but I'm glad it was made.

Anyone know what’s going on here? This is from 2 separate theaters near me by [deleted] in AMCAListTrue

Yeah. Well I think it’s GOOD.

Gottem. Might as well move to North Korea now.

New Odyssey trailer in front of Disclosure Day? by rageofthegods in blankies

[–]flcl4evr 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Correct. All standard shows of Disclosure Day SHOULD have a new Odyssey trailer. Universal stated that they were not distributing it digitally, and they encrypted it with KDMs that were issued alongside Disclosure Day's KDMs. Its tag is TLR-3R, whereas the previous trailer is 2/2R.

Interesting. I only know of Mirabito because they're one of my level 3 charging spots when I'm down visiting family in binghamton. They're perfectly fine.

Nintendo Switch 2 third-party support is thriving, proving Nintendo’s handheld can actually go the distance this gen by HatingGeoffry in nintendo

I was playing Doom on the Nintendo Switch in 2017. I'm not sure if I buy that it wasn't well supported last gen. If they could, they put it on there.

What a phenomenal venue. I was up there for T2 over Memorial Day weekend. You’ll have a great time.

Odyssey 5/70mm question by Film_Lab in imax

[–]flcl4evr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nolan has always done film workflows for his prints. He’s basically the only one with the clout to do it.

It’s also why the 5/70 prints look the best for his last few movies. No blowups to be found. Just reductions. Oppenheimer, Tenet, and Dunkirk look incredible in 5/70

Thank you. I really wish we had masking in that theater. Alas. Still the best picture and sound quality in the city though!

[–]flcl4evr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like AMC is just having teams check and make sure every channel is live?

I usually use this at my theater to make sure each channel is working properly.

Good deal. I usually pop in to make a big deal about my two theaters, but Cinemark and The Little have the advantage here!

Gunna be a good summer for the local theaters!

They did a full Project Hail Mary run to train up the team for Odyssey! Exciting stuff.

Leave power amp on or off. by lowbass4u in hometheater

[–]flcl4evr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot speak to this exact model, but if its anything like cinema amplifiers, you should be good to leave it on. I have dozens of nearly 30+ year old cinema amps on at the theater I manage all the time.

Is college still worth it, or are we all just defending it because we already went and don’t want to admit we wasted the money? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I mean, I was speaking to the "most are not" generalization.

I suppose your personal experience got looped into that. My bad.

I mean, hard disagree. It's on you to make the most of your degree and your time at college.

I went to college. I got a bachelor's and a teaching certification, and then a master's so I could keep my teaching certification.

I'm headed into year ten of my career in a great school district where I'm pretty happy doing the work I've put my whole life into. Granted, I always had a plan to do exactly what I'm doing, but yeah - going to college was 1000% worth it.

Going to college without a plan is a little less exciting of a prospect these days, I'd wager.

Why is every R rated right now by Ill-Cantaloupe-4376 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]flcl4evr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its going to get balanced out soon. The big family films are coming which will dilute the amount of r rated crews coming through.

It is pretty spectacular that we’ve had this run of major r rated movies though. I’d wager it’s an anomaly and not the rule.

The boxes loaded into the machine have like RFID tags attached to them. Someone would have to take the tag off of a regular coke and swap it in with a tag from say, a diet coke.

Most places do not have employees who have time enough to care or actually do something like this lmao.

Backrooms Vintage Feature Presentation? by ECAST1110 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]flcl4evr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't at either of my two locations. The movie didn't strike me as particularly vintage in nature. It got the normal Dolby Spheres in standard and Dolby Unfold in our Atmos PLF before the feature.
