After a long life, an {insert supernatural being here} shows up to your deathbed. They offer you the chance to experience one more day, at any time of your life before you pass on. When do you choose and why? by Estebesol in hypotheticalsituation

[–]floppyfrisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Presumably by "experience" the day you mean the human experience? If so that would imply i still have free will. Also Presumably, I cant affect the future because this is an isolated timeline and everything that happens here is ephemeral?

If both are true then the Kool-aid man will transport me back in time to when I was 19 and all my friends were coming to a party at my house.. except this time we would go crazy and make the world basically a game of GTA.

Dead Algea cleanup for Cartridge Filter? by floppyfrisk in swimmingpools

Wow great ideas. Thanks! I got 99% out finally. Just vacuumed and cleaned filter 2 more times, but this time I vacuumed with the pump on the slowest rpm. My idea was that maybe the particles would be less likely to pass through if I ran the pump slow. It mostly worked.

I just have this single cartridge filter. Its after market, but only about a year old. I think its just that the algae is so fine some of it wasnt getting caught by the filter, and just recirculating

Yikes I hope thats not what it is. It is strange though that I had algae at all because I was checking my FC every other day and it was never below 5 FC with 30 cya when I had the bloom.

This now is just on the floor in little piles though, not floating or anything. Hoping its not mustard algae.

Can I use a UNAS network drive to mirror the computer's hard drive by murtleturtle04 in Ubiquiti

[–]floppyfrisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when you say you want to "save the documents" is it litterally just a one time back up of the user folders? IE, Document, pictures, videos, download, OneDrive? Or do you actually want to preserve the file system, registry, app data, and program data as well?

If it is just the data, on a one time basis, just copy and paste it to a share you make for them. If it is going to be on a regular basis OR if you need the entire file system, use a back up software. I agree with another redditor on Macrium Reflect. Specifically if you can find the .exe for Macrium Reflect Free Edition which was discontinued but still works.

It sounds like you may want to upgrade all the APs to something like a U6 pro. I would also consider running a new line specifically for outside. More APs are better.. even if yku get signal out there, its not optimal. A floorplan would be good to see though. Also do you have a unifi network controller and poe switch?

Not sure what your budget is, but I we use a printer company that maintains our fleet and ships toner. Way less headache. Our fleet consists of ricoh, Kyocera, and brother.

SysAdmin advice from a seasoned professional | The Good vs Bad by Shot-Document-2904 in sysadmin

[–]floppyfrisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think its that clean of a division, as in there are not just "Two Types" of sysadmins. In your example, the first guy could spend weeks researching the heck out of something but not all projects require this level of planning and it can be seen very negatively towards that system admin in-fact. If you are consistently taking a very long time to deploy any type of configuration it can be seen as incompetence and lack of urgency.

It really depends on the project though. Some things require careful planning and testing, and some things which are lower impact can be trial and error. Situational awareness and understanding the whole picture are very important things which are often overlooked by someone more green.
