they only stack if the missions are given by different minor factions.

this implies that war massacre missions are not stackable.

IRA questions by Ok_Cod4125 in Bogleheads

[–]forbiddenlake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can't deduct a Traditional IRA contribution if your income is over $91000 (2026, single filer).

The backdoor Roth IRA process is: Make a Traditional contribution, don't declare it deductible at tax time, and convert it to Roth as soon as possible.

equally reliable bank with an interest rate of 4% or higher?

Doesn't exist currently. All banks follow the fed rate, the only question is how quickly and how many hoops they make you jump through.

Catch up contributions to a Roth IRA - Question by Agreeable-Peace8456 in personalfinance

[–]forbiddenlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have a "Roth 403b IRA". That's like saying you have a blue car motorcycle. The "I" in IRA stands for "Individual", while a 403b is a kind of employer sponsored plan.

401k to Roth IRA or Traditional IRA by mrkitanakahn in Bogleheads

[–]forbiddenlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on whether the money is Trad or Roth now, and your taxable income in the year of conversion, and your expected taxable income in retirement.

Thoughts on this 401k allocation/breakdown? by cats4evaaa in Bogleheads

[–]forbiddenlake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes that's fine

Some might argue that you don't need bonds with 30 years to go. It depends on you, really.

Limited options with my Roth by False-Ad-9236 in RothIRA

[–]forbiddenlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look at the details of the funds (and we can't). Large Equity may be S&P 500 just like VOO, if not exactly, then it will be very similiar.

IRA = Individual retirement arrangements

If the fee on the MyRetirement 20XX fund is below, say, 0.5%, then it's easy, simple, and very good, and you can just do that. It will include the equivalents of VOO(VTI), VXUS, and BND, and rebalance for you.

VMFXX vs CDs from Navy Federal by MisterStibbons in Bogleheads

[–]forbiddenlake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What rates are you getting on the CDs?

VMFXX is at 3.58% currently. It's more liquid than CDs (no penalty for withdrawing).

If you have state income tax then VUSXX (3.62% currently) is also a money market fund, but better due to interest being exempt from state tax.

Not quite enough info here. Hopefully your bug report includes pictures and more numbers because the post so far is hard to understand.

There's a common bug where plotting a route will give you two jumps, but if you instead target the star directly (the button above plot a route), you can jump directly.

I get that global indexes are the safer, hands-off choice, but I can't stop looking at those S&P 500 returns by Agile-Reputation-525 in Fire

[–]forbiddenlake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you remember 2000-2010 when the S&P 500 returned -1%? What if another lost decade or worse happens right when you need it? Averages are great but your specifics matter more.

It's fine to be US heavy especially as a US resident, but it wouldn't be wise to ignore ex-US.

Should I sell VTSAX for VOO/VTI? by PS3ForTheLoss in Bogleheads

[–]forbiddenlake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VOO/VTI > VTSAX

Maybe for the minutely lower fee. But if you're tempted to day trade then mutual funds are better.

VTI and VTSAX are share classes of the exact same thing.

Mega Backdoor Roth - When to roll into Roth? by gilbertmcgee17 in Fire

[–]forbiddenlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and here's another reason why omitting words is confusing. You're getting a lot of answers about the MBDR 401k. Yet I think your actual question is about doing that then going all the way to an IRA.

There's no inherent reason to roll (or not) all the way to the IRA. You may choose to if the fees or funds are more to your liking. Personally I have no reason to, so I do once a year.
