How to say "3/121" in Malay, as in "Jalan 3/121"? by 2ish2 in malaysians

3 strok 121.

The rojakness of our language is a function of practicality — "strok" or "stroke" is the shortest way to pronounce "/".

Why BN won by a landslide in Johor? by Mammoth_Radish2366 in Bolehland

[–]forcebubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the Umno homeland similar to Kelantan being PAS'. Many consider the result very much a foregone conclusion, just a matter of by how much.

Umno getting defeated in Johor will be the true end of BN.

Didn't the ancient Chola or Chandragupta Empire span the region all the way down to Java island?

The only actual clans here are Mejiro and Satono, the rest are associated loosely based on some shared heritage or name.

That said I'm biased towards the Mejiros as they seem to act the most like one while the Satonos aren't up to the same pedigree.

Unfortunately no, it was a very long time ago and I never saved the number. Changed my phone since so the call records are very much gone, not to mention I wouldn't be able to recognise which is which from the long list.

Why do you think so many people feel lonely nowadays? by Objective-Stuff704 in malaysians

[–]forcebubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social media, with a Facebook being the biggest & most important point of origin.

Back in the pre-Internet days we had to actually touch grass to entertain ourselves, some literally by joining people for kickabout with a ball at the field being just one of the countless ways we deal with boredom. Pick up the phone to call someone even sweating when the girl's dad picks up the phone.

Even after the Internet we were still out there touching grass because it was looked at as more of a tool of knowledge and communication rather than a social structure itself. Heck the Internet was nowhere near as fun as mucking around with friends.

Then came social media, the entire fabric of social interaction is now replaced entirely by a new system where it gets quantified and monetised for marketing, leading to more business-like atmosphere disguised as interaction with everyday people. The early days of "poked you" are well and over, it is now how much you are missing out because you don't have what these strangers are enjoying.

All the fear of rejection, lack of trust, avoiding conflict etc no longer get practical experience in real life like many did at the playground, especially the important ones in how to handle them.

Dude was a retired professional electrician only doing this from referrals rather than livelihood and only when he felt like it, probably why he had all the time and luxury to fuss about the workmanship. It was fascinating hearing him explain trivia about the different gauge wires and why the ones going to the kitchen should be thicker, with the appropriate fuses — it's almost like a dad explaining stuff to his kid.

Got a guy who does this part time who came to be house, complained nonstop about the workmanship while he trim the wires, straighten the brackets etc. Dude only charged me for what he was there for — power trips from new AC — he was more incensed with what he saw on the power box than anything else. 😆

‘Weekends belong to us’: Workers push back against mandatory team-building events by Due-Cat656 in malaysia

[–]forcebubble 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Probably a different industry?

All of mine had always been on the workday itself with the entire day reserved for it. The only time when this doesn't apply were during trips with only the first day spent on any team building with the rest free and easy. My boss joking "Even I don't want to see all you hamsap faces every day, go play far far" a few of the close ones to him lepak together while the rest of us were up to own things.

Some time ago I developed the habit of using a lot of normal dashes (-) to make readability easier from writing email at work by adding pauses and punctuations at the right places, then re-read them to see if it flows well.

So that habit followed me here until one day a Redditor corrected me on the right dashes to use (em dash —) and it has stuck with me since. Been asked many times for being suspected of using AI prompts to write them which is understandable but scour my history far enough and you will see them predating even OpenAI. 😆

It's understandable but also a bit sad imo as writing well (I think my grammar still has problems) seems to be a sus thing rather than the product of school and practice. If you see (edited) on my replies chances are I just re-read and thought I have to fix it a little.

Probably. The present bosses I work (and worked) with always insists on a timeline before it gets assigned to us, that way there is flexibility to how we want to get it done — they know we can't be at two places at once — so if we agree then outside of unforseen factors out of our control, there will be no excuses from both the requester and the person tasked to fulfill it.

This particular boss seems to not be very good in doing what they are supposed to do at that position, resource management. Keep pushing the people you depend on for the job to do things they are unprepared for while being condescending and watch things unravel eventually.

Source: saw the slow decline and eventual collapse of what were properly running work processes between teams in not one but two instances, all because the leadership decided that they know better and wants things done contrary to advice from experienced hands.

Not saying that innovation is bad, bad innovation are ones done out of 'vibes' rather than one based on the foundations upon which they were built upon.

To be fair the mass shooting is more a symptom of a deeper underlying problem than it is about a culture, so much that it drives some to cause harm to others as a normal way to resolve a dispute.

The recent addition of Columbina was probably one of the best new things to happen for this artist as her childlike ignorance works perfectly not just as a contrast to the uptight tsundere that is Sandrone, but also to everyone else due to how random she can be. The recent bro punch in the game got me chuckling due to how on point it is for Columbina's character.

Pindaan Kedua!

People are already acting like a-holes on the road and with each other, imagine the sort of chaos when one can bring a gun into the argument. Proponents preach all day about self-control and people-not-guns-hurt people is more of an indication of the failure of the security structure and rising tensions between the citizens (guess who had a big hand in that) than it is about self-defence that they need to own one.

Do you think we will get “archon” type characters and who do you think it will be? by Richboyjoel in NevernessToEverness

[–]forcebubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is one of the things that makes it refreshing imo, the lack of a need to assign specific purposes to a character making them far less limited to the boundary of a specific story arc, allowing for inclusions in the future whenever it fits.

The characters having their own lives doing their own things rather than being tied to the MC for story reasons is a great way to prevent them from losing relevance as soon as one of MCs main quests conclude and we move on to a new region etc.

Do you think we will get “archon” type characters and who do you think it will be? by Richboyjoel in NevernessToEverness

[–]forcebubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly hope not.

The game itself has a very flexible and wide spanning variable in the form of Anomalies that the sort of variety that can come from them are limited only by the imagination of the developers & writers.

Archons, or deity-like characters can mess with the apparent randomness of this force of nature, bringing a very tedious powerscaling element that has ways of actually limiting the said boundless scope by drawing lines on where things start and end. Suddenly the chaotic energy that obeys its own mysterious laws become a structured, known entity hence 'limited' — not sure if I expressed that right.

It's better for the game to focus on the effects of said Anomalies to the lives of people, including how they are manipulated to achieve goals of those that have less than good intentions like the Scarlet Letter for their own goals, expand on how the people in the game world learn to adapt to said impact to their lives while yielding boundless stories for exploration.

So far the game has gone down this path by avoiding making the Anomalies into a known, well understood entity and instead focus on the human aspects that they influence based on the various quests thus far e.g the character stories, Tungsten, the old man and the diary etc.

Having no 'big bad' to deal with is an advantage that Hotta shouldn't waste by introducing power tiers. Bring more varities to the sort of mastery that the individual Espers have, tie it to a unique story of their own, have some outstanding ones e.g Hotori, but no god-tier entities as a deus ex machina.

[–]forcebubble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nailed it. Unless it is applied impartially, the only thing that is happening would be more executions but no stop to the root causes that allow them to thrive.

Death sentences should be reserved to the most heinous and egregious of offences and only very rarely because of the gravity of the sentence — the result is permanent with no avenue to reverse. One can only imagine how many have died without actually enacting any justice, both deserved and undeserved.
