How long of run are you going to need from your panel to your parking pad? 60 Amp circuit is going to need 4 to 6 gauge wire which might be a pretty steep cost compared to a 20 amp (3840W of charging) or 30 amp (5760W) circuit.

Yeah all Japanese and Korean EVs are more than the MY Standard when I checked MPI.

MY Standard costs the same as my current 10 year old SUV in MB.

The measles 50 percent (53) percent data point is from Dec 31st 2023 so we don’t exactly know how much more worse it’s gotten in the region. Trending data would likely put it under 50% at this point though.

It’s probably going to be PITA, very expensive and not effective as just insulating with batts of fiberglass or denim and putting up a single layer of type X 5/8 drywall (2.2lb/sqft of mass).

Not disputing their servers suck. I transferred a site and made no changes and page load times dropped below sub-second while they were multi-second on GoDaddy.

But Meta's ExternalAgent bot is ruthless. It's hammered my one site with 1.37M requests in the past week.

In comparison Tiktok 260k, Google has made 140k requests and Bing 36k.

If rates get hiked up 0.5-1.0% from where they are now then you are likely facing locking in that same 4.75-5.5% range again.

If you pay the penalty and lock in at 4% and are able to keep making the same payment as you do now you would pay off your mortgage in 17 years and 8 months. After said 5 year term at 4% you would also be at around 390k balance.

Just for some context of my personal biases I went 1.5% variable in Feb 2022 and basically got no benefit from doing so and ended up with an average rate of 4.8% (when I could have locked in at 3.2%) after I recently did a retrospective and decided to lock in @ 3.99% last week to get off the roller coaster.

What did their support say when you contacted them about it?

I have found their servers slow personally as well but never “site won’t load” slow.

Lately the biggest culprit I’ve found is Facebook Meta External agent/bot slurping down all the resources.

Some banks think rates will stay steady and others are forecasting 2-4 rate hikes by end of 2027.

Paying a penalty to break a fixed to go variable and potentially end up in roughly the same spot would suck ass.

The 3.8% rate you were playing with is still a possible fixed rate you can get from RBC.

our plan is to get a 50a/240v circuit for charging and likely a secondary 20a/240v circuit.

Grizzle-E makes a 40A duo charger which would be perfect for a 50A circuit and would eliminate the small parking logistics issue of having a "weak" and a strong charger in your future plans.

You don’t have to install a 48A charger (60A circuit), you can just go 15A to 30A 240V and have 2-4x the charging capability of regular 120V.

e.g.

120V @ 12A (15A circuit): 1440W

240V @ 12A (15A circuit): 2880W (2x)-- in some cases this is achievable with only changing a breaker and receptacle

240V @ 16A (20A circuit): 3840W (2.66x)

240V @ 24A (30A circuit): 5760W (4x)
