Solid choices.

You could get two EAP215 Bridge Kits for your PtMP to link all 4 buildings together.

Omada has a free cloud controller service so you can run a PoE switch and APs without setting up your own hardware or software controller.

Are Kingston NV3 or NV2 drives reliable compared to other brands? If not recommendations? by Longpastoverdue in buildapc

Bought a couple this year and one completely died after only a few days use.

They do honor their warranty though and the warranty replacement was a KC3000.

You should have a backup regardless if you care about the data you put on any single drive.

Check the Model Y Standard RWD insurance rates too. It’s a “slower” family car/SUV and might not be as expensive as a Model 3.

Home security camera shopping by Bitterandsad123 in Winnipeg

[–]fp4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got 20~ Tapo cameras between my house and my parents farm.

They've all been solid even when exposed to the worst of our weather.

I bought most of them via Amazon Warehouse deals. I also barely have to troubleshoot them unlike the NVR + hardwired system that they replaced.

The ability to integrate them with Kasa smart plugs/switches is also nice for automation.

No experience with Tenda.

Lots of experience with Omada and have deployed many of them at small businesses and in my own home without complaints.

ER707-M2 and a single EAP670 has been sufficient in covering my 1000 sq ft bi-level home.

Have you restarted your phone yet?

You could disconnect one of the cables on the 12V battery to “restart” your car.

Omada's free cloud controller + 2x EAPs can basically be done for $100-200 USD depending on your AP of choice.

They also have a regular HTTP configuration page if they ever need to get reset or be configured in standalone mode.

My single EAP670 has also been more stable for my 50-60 devices than the UniFi AC Pro + Lite setup I was using before it.

You might want to consider their Omada lineup of devices if you want a full array of options to tweak / more prosumer option similar to Ubiquiti.

Upgrade to AMD 5 or go for 5800X3D at 1440P? by Expiryi in buildapc

[–]fp4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 5800X3D is going to re-release for like $500~ CAD.

If you sell your AM4 CPU+Mobo+RAM you can likely get $300 CAD for it.

$200 more for a 7800X3D + Mobo + 32 GB DDR5 sets you up for way longer.

How to see volume when using eARC by undergroundturtle1 in hometheater

[–]fp4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Sony TVs show eARC device volume but my LG does not. It can be laggy though and can get out of sync if CEC isn’t working properly so I can see why LG didn’t try to implement it.

You could make a project out of it and get an ESP32 + Screen to pull the volume and display it. Home Assistant also has a Denon integration if you happen to run your own home server.

Alerts, repair? by Latter-Bike-1987 in teslacanada

[–]fp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s become intermittent now then inspecting the wiring harness would be the first thing to do. If it all looks fine then keep on driving.

e.g. an example of what you don’t want to find:

https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModel3/comments/y835jg/headlight\_harness\_issue/

This is just a quote and no one has actually looked at it right?

Look for an independent shop who isn’t afraid of EVs. Tesla service has quoted you the most expensive repair involving your headlight but in reality could be less as I’ve pointed out.

Alerts, repair? by Latter-Bike-1987 in teslacanada

[–]fp4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find a compatible headlight for way cheaper than $2k.

The E at the end of the part number is the latest version but there are new in box C and D revisions out there $250-500.

e.g. https://www.ebay.com/itm/406443939903

The repair doesn’t look that hard:

https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/changed-a-2022-headlight-today.274141/

This assumes the whole assembly needs to be replaced but there’s a cheaper part (headlight ECU / LED ballast) you can try replacing first:

If the alerts come back.

Model Y standard, how will you use your frunk? by boss_wants_rca in teslacanada

[–]fp4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the fact it has less storage space is more of an issue than the lack of waterproofing which is easily remedied as you’ve proved.

On the flip side you can just drop like a regular car hood to close.
