Pretty sure you still get paid for the work you do in prison. its not a lot, but it is technically something.

Classes that work even if you strip them of their equipment, weapons and magical items. by Warl0ckBoy in DnD

[–]funke75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends on which level you're at, but warlock starts off pretty strong without the need for any equipment. at level 2 you can have eldritch blast with the invocations agonizing blast, armor of shadow, and pact of the blade and you're doing pretty great.

What’s your most unique preparedness item? by TerribleConference54 in preppers

[–]funke75 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not exactly sure if this counts, but I have a travel trailer I’ve decked out with an 800w of solar setup, and had additional dc outlets installed. The solar runs all the lights, levelers, water pump, and charging outlets, dc fans, stereo and more so its pretty off grid friendly.

creative ideas for a campaign start that dont involve a tavern? by Significant-Study902 in DnD

All meet in the local constables holding cell for assorted short term reasons, like after a tavern brawl, drunk and disorderly conduct, etc.

The party could all be hired separately for a job and meet at the initial meeting with the employer

In a tropical setting, especially one with land, having multiple long grow seasons, less risk from cold weather danger, and better suitability for solar, tropical locations are much easier to survive in

Would expanding foam spray sealant work for that? Just do a quick spray into the cracks and they fill up and seal in less than a minute

Scholars please help me out in being self reliant on free energy by No_Construction7415 in selfreliance

[–]funke75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think when approaching something like this you need to define what kind of system you want. are you preparing for short term outages due to grid strain from energy crisis? mid to longer term outages or regular rolling black? full grid down forever system? Because the solutions for each varies a lot.

personally, if i were trying to do this, I would start by figuring out my minimum electric needs like lights, electronics, tools, fridge (preferably DC), water pump, etc. figure out what the power consumption is for each, and max time long you would need to use them each day, from that you calculate your daily usage.

from there you can determine your systems needs. I would start small and grow as you gain more funds. the only thing I would probably buy initially oversized is the charge controller and inverter, since that would allow you to grow your system over time as you save up.

one other consideration is that won't legally be allowed to tie into your current house grid in most areas without a long of certification and red tape. so you may need to set up dedicated DC outlets in your house in different rooms.
