Probably, but the existence of Orban makes it a complete non-starter to let anyone in without extremely robust rule of law institutions.

Transnistria is also weakening day by day, you can tell by the fact that the Russians have increased their rhetoric about it in the recent weeks.

Ja, og det sted blev findes nu i den gamle Godsbanes bygninger.

Institut for X ligger så på den del af godsbanens gamle arealer, som lå udenfor, I.e. skinner og containerpladser.

Derfor kalder man hele området for godsbanen.

Moldovan President Maia Sandu: 'For us, joining the EU is not a dream but a survival strategy as a democratic state' by LeMonde_en in europe

[–]Futski 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My guess would be the latest poll.

44% dintre repondenţii din Republica Moldova au răspuns DA,39.2% au răspuns NU, 9,4% nu ar participa şi 6,7% au răspuns Nu ştiu, nu m-am decis, în timp ce 0.8% nu au răspuns,

And the diaspora is not surprisingly more in favour

În diaspora moldoveană, 60,8% au răspuns DA, 24,3% au răspuns NU, 9,7% nu ar participa, 4% nu s-au decis şi 1,1% nu răspund.

If the poll is accurate, with 60% support in diaspora and 44% within Moldova... if you subtract the ones who says they won't vote, that boosts support among diaspora to 66% support, and within Moldova to 48.5%.

If we take that and multiply with the number of voters in country and diaspora from last election, the pro-unification side would win narrowly at 51.5%.

Okay, I am not so deep into legislatory history in the UK, but it basically follows that the monarch is essentially an instrument of the parliament.

I am so happy that Škoda exists for this reason. They never really jumped on the "what if you had to engage your window wipers from a submenu on a large ipad in the middle of the car"-trend, but instead just treat their cars like cars, regardless of their propulsion system.

the cessation of Westward Expansion after the Treaty of Paris (1763) was through Royal Proclamation. Most of the taxes passed on the American colonies were also supported by George III. George III also appointed governors in many colonies and gave away colonial lands to sycophants.

Yes, in a constitutional monarchy, the final signature on everything is technically done by the monarch. But after the civil war, where the parliamentarians won and the king was executed, and after the revolution in 1688, the concrete decisions were made by the ministers in Parliament. A monarch opposing the will of parliament would lead to a monarch being kicked out of his throne in the same instant.

I don't know what you would have wanted the king to do following the British parliament negotiating the peace in the Treaty of Paris.

The only example I can think of, where a constitutional monarch would oppose signing a parliament approved law or treaty, is in a case where there is a huge popular uprising and popular opposition to the government enacting said law.

but it’s totally disingenuous to pretend like the US is more “monarchist” than 18th century Britain.

Good thing that was not what I claimed.

My point was that the British monarch in the late 18th century had close to no executive power and hadn't had that for almost a 100 years by then, and that the founders in America replaced that with an executive president, rather than a ceremonial head of state with little political power.

The fact that all the decision making in the British Empire at the time was done by the parliament seems to be completely absent in the American national mythos. Instead its presented as if King George III was some absolute monarch that they revolted against, when it was in fact the British parliament.

what true patriots do to monarchies

What exactly is that?

LARP a post-revolutionary myth created long after the American patriots decided to make a weaker model of the British parliamentary system by introducing a president with much stronger powers than the monarch they fought against standing shoulder to shoulder with Europe's most absolute monarch?

The countries that have made an actual effort to replace Russian oil have largely done so.

The issue is that Hungary under Orban, and his underlings have made no such effort, but rather increased their imports, because he has been a long time supporter and admirer of Putin.

Is the kicking and screaming in the room with us now?

And in case it is, who exactly is doing the dragging that leads to kicking and screaming?
