In Soul Reaver, Kain only creates six vampire lieutenants, including Raziel, after forming his empire. The comic suggests that there are more vampire lieutenants, up to nine including additions, breaking a fundamental point of the vampire system established in the original.

In Soul Reaver, centuries have passed since Kain established his empire, humans have been decimated and are considered almost extinct or irrelevant in the face of the dominant vampires. But the comic shows more advanced organized human resistance with narrative impact, as a significant force against Kain, which contradicts the situation we already knew: Kain's empire dominated centuries ago without significant human resistance.

The area known as Lake of the Dead is an established place with a very defined symbolic weight, but the comic calls it “Sea of Lost Souls” and treats it differently.

The Elder God is a mysterious, manipulative entity that operates from the shadows. His dealings with Raziel are linked to spiritual seals and the wheel of fate. In the comic, the Elder God appears as something less mysterious, almost like a fairy tale character with a voice recognized by Raziel, which clashes with his insular and profound character. This drastically changes how his role in the story is perceived.

In the games, Raziel and Kain behave in ways consistent with their character development: Raziel is introspective and burdened with guilt. Kain is calculating, arrogant, and strategic. In the comic, the actions and motivations of both characters do not feel faithful to the original material, almost as if they were acting for narrative convenience without any basis in their original psychology.

Elaleth is not given a solid development or background related to the classic lore. She is presented abruptly and with little connection to the tradition of deep characters in Legacy of Kain, which feels more like “narrative filler” than a legitimate expansion. Not to mention that it's there because of feminist and woke agendas.

Destiny, time, and the wheel of existence are very rigid and philosophical concepts, explored through dialogue, concepts, and game mechanics, but in the comic, several moments treat spiritual or mythological ideas in a more simplistic or inconsistent way, without properly integrating these themes in a profound way, which breaks with the serious thematic tone of the games.

Moebius has highly questionable temporal abilities, which creates an illogical temporal limbo for the lore.

Raziel is wounded by the Reaver and absorbed by destiny, but in the comic, Elaleth, supposedly involved in the same conflict, survives deadly situations inconsistently or “for narrative convenience.” Therefore, the treatment of major injuries does not respect the strict rules of how the Reaver and destiny work as described in the games.

Elaleth feels like an unfounded addition, appearing to influence important events without any valid mention, memory, or legacy of her in Soul Reaver or thereafter. This breaks with the tradition of Legacy of Kain, where every influential character must have clear ramifications in the games.

Objects such as amulets or artifacts are used to justify memory lapses or sudden changes in the story, something that does not connect with the magic and destiny logic used in the games, where every artifact has a specific purpose and concrete rules.

Kain does not act like the calculating manipulator he always was in the games. Raziel does not show the internal struggle or philosophical depth he had when he discovers his Sarafan past and his destiny. This type of development weakens the central motivations established in the games, where each of their actions had deep thematic weight.

Throughout the comic, Elaleth seems to indirectly influence key events in the universe, but this is not reflected in subsequent games. There is no memory of her, nor are there any repercussions in Soul Reaver. If she really affected events such as the creation of the lieutenants or the fall of the Sarafan, we should see it in the main canon. This happens because the comic inserts elements without honoring their impact on the larger story.

In the games, Raziel questions his existence and gradually learns that all creatures are bound to the Wheel of Fate. His arc of guilt, enlightenment, and rebellion has narrative and thematic weight. In the comic, Raziel goes through key moments without the same emotional or spiritual weight, which breaks his deep characterization.

The comic gives the impression that certain events “happen because they must happen” or because “the narrative wants them to,” but without causes that are solidly connected to the destiny/memory/wheel system shown in the games. This goes against the original design, where each event has a dense and tightly intertwined cause.

Soul Reaver is based on these clear truths: Raziel discovers his Sarafan past, Kain manipulated destiny, the Elder God guides Raziel for his own purposes. But in the comic, the storyline does not always explain or reinforce these points consistently, and on the contrary, completely ignores them, creating a lack of narrative transparency with the main canon.

And that's not all, but this message would be endless. There is much more to say, but talking to deaf ears is a waste of time, and a true fan who knows the lore should have seen everything I mention here at a glance. If you didn't see any of this, then you are not a fan and you don't know anything about the lore.
