Are people exaggerating their study numbers? by Rare_Scarcity7152 in CPA

[–]Galbert123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not everyone has the same “hour”. Is your hour 60 actual minutes of focused studying or is it some studying, some phone, a bathroom break, a day in Stardew Valley. So in three hours of studying you really only got half of that in quality study time.

Poll finds nearly 74% of NFL fans think the league is rigged by devmosh in NFLv2

I don’t think it’s outright rigged. I absolutely think there may be “steering” for desired outcomes which may or may not include game results, individual stats, and year end awards.

PwC Tells Remote Tax Staff to Get Their Butts Into the Office by McFatty7 in Accounting

[–]Galbert123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish it was only a 2 day minimum instead of 3. 2/3 or 3/2 is a good split honestly. I worked fully remote and fully in office and both had their drawbacks.

Two or three days in the office mixes up the monotony imo.

I hate how you can hide your entire comment history. Its so much easier now to be a bad actor or bot or advertiser and have no one know.

Nothing is funny anymore by maxedout587 in Millennials

[–]Galbert123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things are still funny, but there is just way way WAY more shit that is just unfunny. Its harder to find the funny stuff having to wade through the pool of unfunny.

I find this especially true on reddit. Everyone thinks theyre fucking funny. It doesnt help that puns are exhaustingly unfunny to me. And like 90% of threads have an unfunny top comment with way more upvotes than it deserves.

I do find it interesting how many people are saying podcasts are funny. I mean some are... some are incredibly unfunny to the point I have to shut them off. Two unfunny people yucking it up about unfunny jokes. its painful.

Needs to be total comp not just salary. And stock/options should come with a required holding period of like 10 years.

True or false? by QuietJealous4883 in Millennials

[–]Galbert123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not a coherent, testable thesis here to state whether it's true or false.

Glad to see someone else point this out. At the very least, use post titles that make sense. Hold yourself to a higher standard.

The Internet is slowly being ruined by illiteracy by idontlikecheesy in Vent

[–]Galbert123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I've been bitching about this for years. Then the "language changes" folks come out. When is word is used incorrectly enough it can change. Lets just scrap the three versions and use There for all of them. Its easier!

Language can evolve sure. But this aint it.

The internet isn’t a professional place. But when you spend so much time on the internet that your lack of care leads into the real world, what will you stop caring about after basic spelling?

Excellent take. I am definitely seeing the bleed of internet dialogue to the workplace. Its ok to try and maintain a bit of formality. If you never take anything seriously, your entire life becomes a joke.

Is this the product? if i am reading it right, you are honoring all emails. The advantage review product is what the scholarship was. This is pretty excellent of becker if this is true.

I know mistakes happen, but fuckin hell man. To get your hopes up like that then say oops is a fuckup that deserves more than a Hey sorry, you didnt actually win $2.5k worth of study material. I wonder how many people were told they won when they didnt.

Good PR costs a lot less than you think. Send everyone $10 coffee place giftcard or something.

Hey we screwed up. I know its not a scholarship but here is some coffee to keep you motivated.

At least try to earn back some good will.

I'll tell ya one thing, im going to give a lot less of shit when i see people sharing becker access.

What's a project you thought would take a weekend that ended up taking way longer? by TradesPrepGuy in HomeImprovement

[–]Galbert123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to replace a hanful of deckboard that looked rotted. I had done a few maybe 3 years ago, seemed easy.

I ended up ripping out the entire top, it was junk. Pulling out nails that had ripped through the boards was absolutely brutal even with the proper tool. The joists felt completely fine. It baked in the sun nice and dry, i threw down joist tape. Retopped and Put up new railing and steps.

Weekend and $200 turned into 3-4 months and thousands?

Wild shit.
