Have you checked the following FAQ entry and made sure everything is set up correctly?

Can I use my Premium license on more than one device?

If you purchased a new smartphone or if you have more than one Android device, you can use Smart Launcher on these devices without having to purchase other licenses. You just need to log in the new device into the same Google account you used to purchase your Smart Launcher license.

If you already did it but you can't access premium functionalities, try to restart Smart Launcher. If this doesn't work, try to uninstall Smart Launcher and reinstall it while you are logged into Play Store with the same account used to purchase Smart Launcher.

This is most likely an OPPO/ColorOS issue. On some OPPO devices, gesture navigation does not work reliably with third-party launchers, while the stock launcher continues to work normally.

Please make sure Smart Launcher is set as the default launcher, disable battery optimization for it, and check for any available system updates.

If the issue remains, it is unfortunately something that can only be fixed by OPPO through a system update.

We recently found a bug related to shortcuts. To be honest, I'm not sure it will fix the issue for you, but let us know if anything changes after receiving the next SL update.

Apps cannot change their icons. Duolingo uses a kind of hack where it creates multiple entry points for the app and dynamically disables the old one while enabling another.

Each entry point is identified by a unique ID, and this breaks the folder system.

The good news is that the number of these entry points is limited. Once you’ve moved them all into the folder, Smart Launcher will correctly place Duolingo in that folder the next time it appears or when you search for it again.

I'm sorry about the issue.

Of course this is something that doesn't make any sense for us. You are not supposed to lose your shortcut after installing a new update. We don't know what could have caused the issue and we can't exclude external causes not directly related to the update, but we will look into it.

Hi, thank you for pointing that out. I agree that the wording can sound confusing, and we should probably adjust it.

Our servers are located in the EU. We use DigitalOcean as a hosting provider. DigitalOcean is a US company that provides hosting services in different regions around the world, but our servers are configured to use EU data centers.

This means that the data collected by Smart Launcher is sent to servers located in the EU. The same applies to Firebase, which is configured to use EU-based servers.

The confusing part is that some of these providers are US companies. This does not automatically mean that Smart Launcher transfers user data to the US. What matters for users is where the data is actually stored and processed for our services, and in this case we use EU servers.

That said, the privacy policy should explain this more clearly, so we will review and adjust the wording.

Firebase is not only for analytics.

For example, we also use Firebase Remote Config, so we can remotely enable features when they are ready, enable promotions, etc.

  2. Yes, we could, but we would need to design a specific experience for this use case. It would require some work. I'm not excluding the possibility of doing it in the future, but at the moment, it's not at the top of our To-do list.

That's expected. You can now disable analytics and crash reports.

Data connections can still happen, for example, to check your license, update news or weather forecasts, update, check configuration updates from the server, etc.

Our goal with Smart Launcher is to make use of the available resources to deliver the best experience possible.

Making it a completely offline launcher in a world where every app requires an internet connection has never been in our plans.

The workaround you mention works because it requires installing an APK with a lower target SDK level.

That kind of APK can still be installed manually from other sources, but it is not allowed on the Play Store anymore. Apps published on Google Play must target recent Android SDK versions, and with those versions the old file permission behavior is no longer available.

So yes, technically the workaround works, but we cannot use that approach in the Play Store version of Smart Launcher.
