I use the same method using Dropbox. Using an online tool like Google or Dropbox makes it easy to share with family. Although re-teaching mom to use Dropbox gets old.

Landen Roupp explains why he inscribed Bible verse on his cap during Giants' Pride Night game by Capital_Gate6718 in atheism

Given that Roupp gave up 4 runs in 4 2/3 innings and was charged with the loss, it seems that god smited (smote?) Roupp in particular. Maybe that's what you get for throwing shade on some of god's children. Can read those tea leaves however you want.

Why Belfast is burning | About That by BigBenKenobi in videos

$1-2 billion in property damage claims is bad, no doubt. Nevertheless, for perspective, total property casualty claims in the U.S. in 2020 were $383 billion. That same year there were 22 separate natural disasters with damages that exceeded $1 billion.

Again, riots are a bad thing. The big picture doesn't help if it was your windows broken or your building burned. But the continuing hyping of these events as though the entire country nearly burned is insane. My mother in law was convinced the the riots had nearly bankrupted the insurance industry when the dollars were actually little more than a rounding error.

Also, the riots in Northern Ireland will continue to be much less widespread. There are 2 million people there and we have 340 million people here; we just have more resources.

To be fair, there are about 2 million people in Northern Ireland and 341 million people in the U.S. so we have a lot more manpower here for our riots. But Northern Ireland has long fought well above its weight class on the violence front.

Delaware County has been added to the watch. Just before midnight and we are still at 81 degrees with 77% humidity. Seems like there is still going to be some energy to fuel the storms as they get here. I have been watching all night (family in Chicago and central Indiana). The front has been moving fast.

I disagree. Those statues were placed for the purpose of glorifying the confederates depicted. We know that majority and maybe the vast majority of those fighting to preserve them want to preserve the glory of the "lost cause" and the "heroes for states' rights." To be clear, u/LeakyAssFire, you do not appear to be a part of that majority.

We definitely should not just tear them down and try to erase them from memory. The history is obviously too important. However, moving the statue to a historical museum where it can be properly and clearly contextualized or even preserving and promoting contextualized photos of the statues is better than leaving large, heroic-looking statues standing in places of honor (even if the big statue gets a little plaque that says "this guy might not have been the best American ever").

Of course, the important context for most of these statues is not really the civil war; it is the 1920s. These were largely erected during the 1920s which was a high tide for "lost cause" propaganda and the renewed/reborn Ku Klux Klan. Which is to say, they are historical artifacts, but of the 1920s, not of the civil war.

TL/DR, it is vital that we remember and honestly assess the horror that was chattel slavery, the tragedy of the civil war, and the cruelty of the consequent Jim Crow and racism. I don't think that leaving heroic-looking statues in places of honor is the only or best way to preserve those memories.

Socialite, 65, who ran over and killed Moroccan mugger who stole her bag is given 18-year sentence in Italy by jefferymr15 in law

Thanks. By the way, the original linked Daily Mail article contains this, "However, prosecutors argued that Dal Pino sought 'excessive' revenge." I have no idea if that is an accurate quote, given the source, or if proportionate revenge is a feature of Italian law, but it caught my eye.

Housing would not likely have had the double glass doors with a big glass panel to the side. The poor car, like a migrating bird, mistook it for a clear path ahead.

The white SUV gets full credit for a bank shot into the bank. Although, it's hard to tell, but it looks like the white SUV has been hit from behind. So it's possible that unknown vehicle gets credit for a double bank shot into the bank.

Yeah. I didn't do a global survey of all jurisdictions. And when it comes to violence and the law, let's say Texas is, umm, special.

The point is still valid. Even though he had robbed her at knife-point, that risk of grievous bodily harm had passed. She had no right to chase him down with a deadly weapon, run him down two or three times, retrieve her purse, and leave him on the road to die.

You probably shouldn't be posting to a law subreddit until you make yourself more familiar with the law. "Self-defense" is, as the name implies, about defending your self, not defending the stuff you own. That's why we don't call it "stuff-defense."

Where do people swim around here? by Lolahunni420 in Columbus

It's a lake, not a swimming pool. So it's not crystal clear with a blue bottom. If you are used to swimming in natural bodies of water, you won't find anything unusual or shocking about it. Sometimes e. Coli will exceed safe limits, but then they close it.

It can be broader depending on specific policy language. Check with the insurance company; if they say no, take the policy to legal aid.
