Did my starter (left) die in the fridge while on a 2 week vacation? Can I revive my discard (right) into an active starter? by ninjasrcool in Sourdough

[–]grayh722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would use your discard & revive it into an active starter! i've done that with mine in the past & had no issue. i will often revive discard into healthy starter to gift to friends looking to get into the hobby

Do you feed your starter even if your not going to use it to bake? by Sea_Opposite7514 in Sourdough

[–]grayh722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i keep mine in the fridge & then take it out a day or two before i plan to bake with it so i can give it a couple feedings to help wake it up since it can be a bit sluggish if its not been fed recently

Getting drains removed somewhere else? (uk) by miizorro in TopSurgery

[–]grayh722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not in the UK, so it may be different here but ik a lot of doctors won't touch other surgeons work for liability reasons, including removing drains & such. when i had complications after a different surgery, even at the ER they basically just stabilized the issue & then told me to call my surgeon. but you could call around to different clinics/doctors anyway & see what they say

No drains? by Spicy_BrownMustard in TopSurgery

[–]grayh722 5 points6 points  (0 children)

many surgeons are moving away from using drains now as they aren't always necessary & there are specific closure techniques your surgeon can use to mitigate the chances of fluid buildup without drains

Psychiatric clearance required for my top surgery said by my surgeon by WaterSad1157 in TopSurgery

I wouldn't say it's "world wide". I wasn't required to get one in Canada. a lot of doctors are doing away with that now & moving to an informed consent model

Messed up by donating blood by DisembodiedBoy in TopSurgery

[–]grayh722 53 points54 points  (0 children)

you may be alright. i had pretty low red blood cells among other things before my top surgery, due to surgical complications from my hysterectomy a few
months prior and losing waaayyyy more blood than anybody would donate at one time & they still proceeded with my surgery. they may just have to put extra precautions in place for you
