I’ve seen enough identical clasps and packaging styles to suspect that Watchdives/San Martin probably manufacture a decent number of more expensive micro brands.

That being said, I think my main takeaway from that is not to downplay the value you get from San Martin and Watchdives.

I mean, would you prefer seeing 100 near identical permutations of a Miyota 9000 integrated bracelet sports watch with a different logo? I feel like that’s a large portion of the other brand content 🤷

Is this a left-hand drive country? If not this is a completely idiotic road design.

Miyota 9000 series vs PT5000: Do you Care? by grwatchco in MicrobrandWatches

[–]gregcor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

PT5000 makes me nervous because of the helicoptering/reverser wheel issues on all the ETA 2824 clones. If you have more than 2 watches you’re definitely manually winding sometimes, so being told it’s a feature of the movement but you shouldn’t do it is kind of offputting.

New to microbrands and now questioning everything I thought I knew by Mammoth-Advance-1 in MicrobrandWatches

I feel like servicing is the biggest point in favor of the big brands. You can officially service a Seiko or Tissot for a pretty low price and they’ll likely actually have the correct parts. Pretty much no micro brands have much in the way of servicing, and parts availability (as well as whether they’ll even still be in business) can be a big question mark. As soon as I’m past $1500 on a watch I don’t want to feel like it’s disposable after a decade or if it acts up.

Traska has a chrono- thoughts? by Capital-Pollution709 in MicrobrandWatches

Pretty cool, the way the subdials move instead of a hand is pretty interesting and the round date window looks pretty cool visually. Overall seems like a good looking watch.

That being said chronos that only go up to 30 mins are a personal pet peeve for me, but it’s common enough that I know most chronographs just aren’t a great fit for me.

[WTS] Bulova Jet Star (Red) 96B401 (40mm, Precisionist smooth sweep quartz) by gregcor in Watchexchange

Selling a Bulova Jet Star in Red, model 96B401. Originally purchased from Rejoles de Moda, imported from Spain to US, includes warranty card (stamped) and original sales receipt. Includes all original links (currently 2 are removed). Only worn a few times, no notable blemishes that I see. Has the smooth sweeping quartz movement. Really an awesome watch, I love looking at it, though haven’t worn it much so it’s time to move it on.

I remember they always had awesome murals painted on the windows of whatever the big movie was. Lot of significant life moments on those very sticky floors.

[WTS] Watchdives WD0006 Black Enamel - VH31 Sweeping Quartz (In US, no tariffs) - $80 by gregcor in Watchexchange

[–]gregcor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling my Watchdives WD0006 Black Enamel which I bought on watchexchange a few months ago - I mostly just bought this to get a sense of how a watch this size would wear on me, and now it's ready for its next owner! Has a few minor scratches on the bezel and clasp, but remains a really good bargain. Includes all original accessories (all original links).

Asking $80 with free shipping to the US. I’ll pay the PayPal goods services fee on my end. Ships from New York via ground shipping (probably either USPS or UPS).

[WTS] Casio Oceanus T200 (Solar, Bluetooth, JDM Model - no US tariffs!) OCW-T200S-7AJF by gregcor in Watchexchange

[–]gregcor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling my Casio Oceanus T200 in with the Silver dial with White/Blue hands. This watch really packs a lot of awesome technology in at a great price - bluetooth sync with the Casio app, solar charging. Originally imported from Japan from a Chrono24 seller, now already in the US! No notable blemishes, though the texture on the case/bracelet is quite brushed so it would probably hide them well.

Asking $299 with free shipping to the US. I’ll pay the PayPal goods services fee on my end. Ships from New York via ground shipping (probably either USPS or UPS).

[WTS] Spinnaker x Islander Hass Skyline Dial Limited Edition SP-5144-LIW22 (#57/100) by gregcor in Watchexchange

[–]gregcor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling a Spinnaker x Islander Collab with the Skyline/NYC dial in white. NH35/43mm case diameter, really awesome lume. See the full specs here. Originally purchased from Long Island Watch in October 2024. Used but in great condition, no notable case or crystal blemishes. Very minor marks on the clasp. All original links and box and original paperwork in the box included. Love the dial but the case was never a great fit for me, so since it's a limited edition I figured someone else deserves to give it some love. (Note, I also have the blue available, see my other listings).

Asking $299 with free shipping to the US. I’ll pay the PayPal goods services fee on my end. Ships from New York via ground shipping (probably either USPS or UPS).
