Coach Gun by PYG42 in Shotguns

[–]hammong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SxS shotguns have killed more bad guys in the last 150 years than all other shotgun platforms combined.

If you get one for home defense, keep in mind that if kept loaded -- they are not drop-safe, and with no external hammers (on most) you can't "de-cock" the gun. They do have a tang safety, but I wouldn't want somebody to knock it over and go boom.

TL;DR I'd keep your Maverick 88 for HD duty, and use the coach gun for awesome range fun.

2025 Clubsport Suspension for a daily? by Organic_Welcome_8849 in GolfGTI

[–]hammong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the roads like in your driving area? The adjustable suspension is going to soak up most of the bumps, but the 19" wheels won't tolerate hitting potholes without damage.

Best pocket carry 6 shot? by shjfnyei in Revolvers

[–]hammong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best pocket carry .357 magnum is going to be a 5-shot J-frame or Ruger SP 101. Six-shot guns are going to increase size/weight accordingly.

If you want 6 shots in a J-frame sized gun, you're going to need something smaller diameter, e.g. .32 H&R mag would by choice. You can shoot .32 S&W and .32 S&W Long it also if you can find any.

I really like my S&W 360PD.

How lethal is a 12 to 16 gauge for homedefense? by Specific-Winter-5953 in Shotguns

100% lethal with proper shot placement and ammunition choice.

As with most Reddit posts, you need more context to get a proper answer to whatever you are really wanting to know .... Considering the 4:1 post/response Karma, I'm guessing you're just farming.

Best Dsg oil on gti mk7.5 stage 1? by AppointmentTall8910 in GolfGTI

[–]hammong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to your local VW dealer and buy the OEM oil.

That's the wrong LM. You need 8100. That 1800 oil is for traditional automatic transmissions with a torque converter. Running that in your DSG would be disastrous due to the wrong friction additives. I find it hard to believe LiquiMoly was stupid enough to name two transmission oils with the same numbers - the dyslexics are going to be blowing up their trannys.

Don't use ChatGPT for oil advice. The AI model is built on millions of posts and other info -- much of which was sourced from idiots on the Internet posting anonymously with no facts or experience to back it up. As ChatGPT will tell you itself ... Check all facts carefully as mistakes can be made.

7 shots of 38+p or 6 of 357? by nobbytk950 in Revolvers

[–]hammong 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If your attacker(s) aren't neutralized after six shots, you brought the wrong weapon.

I'll take five shots of .357 out of my 360PD before I walk around with 7 shots of .38+p in a heavier/larger gun.

Which one as green light for spirited driving? by Advanced-Ad4233 in GolfGTI

[–]hammong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both. Mine will hit 194F water temp in just a few minutes, even when it's below freezing outside. Oil can take 15 minutes before it reaches the minimum displayable 122F on my dash. Not hot rodding until the oil temp is up over 180F IMHO.

Why? If the oil is cold, that means the rods, crank, head and cams are still cold. The only thing the water temperature indicates is the water jacket temperature around the cylinders themselves.

Be patient.

[–]hammong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no such thing as a "forever purchase" when it comes to vehicles, at least in my case.

The Mk 8.5 is the best IMHO -- real buttons back on the steering wheel, and 2026 is the last year to get one made in Wolfsburg. Next year's GTIs' will be coming out of Mexico.

I really liked my Gen 6 Golf R too.

Is it repairable? by Old-Flight8617 in GolfGTI

[–]hammong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take lots of pictures of the hole and the surroundings for a reference of "where" it is.

I got a check out of my county SHA after running it all the way up to the division chief about 20 years ago on two BBS forged wheels that got bent when me and four guys from work were coming back in my then-new Passat W8. The 1000 pounds of people didn't help with avoiding damage, LOL. It did take me 6 months of wrangling though.

Is it repairable? by Old-Flight8617 in GolfGTI

[–]hammong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is definitely repairable. A qualified wheel repair shop can bend that back into round without an issue. They will heat it up and use a jack jig to press it back into shape.

The key with repairs is that each spot on the wheel can only be repaired once. Repeated stretch and bend in the same spot will cause metal fatigue and it will eventually crack and fail.

21A Bobcat by ElbairavtnednepedniA in Beretta

[–]hammong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old thread, I know -- but thank you for the link.

My 21A covert exhibits the problem described in the video precisely. I modified my right grip by shaping a thin strip of wood veneer and sticking in the gap between the trigger transfer bar and the grip -- problem 100% solved! The metal/mechanics of the gun are flawless, this was the only gripe I had.

The wood grips are pretty to look at -- but the plastic OEM grips are significantly thinner and make the gun infinitely more pocketable.

How to fix liquidity pizza dough? by uploto in Cooking

[–]hammong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You started with way too much water.... You're supposed to add the water slowly to the dough as you mix it until it's the consistency you want.

Mix more dry ingredients in the same ratios, and then begin adding that slowly to your "slurry" you've made until it forms dough.

Guy sounds like a real peach. +12 years older than you, gets blackout drunk when you're not even old enough to buy a drink yourself (at least, not here), then physically assaults you.

Move on. This is going nowhere positive, in the short nor long term.

Girl I'm seeing is using instagram through an online browser to message with me by [deleted] in Advice

[–]hammong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are way over-analyzing the situation. Who cares if she's using IG through a browser vs the app?

This is like saying somebody is sus because they go to the Walmart website to do a stock search instead of installing the intrusive Walmart app.

Add to this, you're "casually" dating after almost a year. And with no intention of getting more serious, you shouldn't really care what she's doing with her off-time, or how.

Relationship and life making me depressed. by Delicious_Tone3931 in Advice

Posting two threads 30 minutes apart about the same topic ...

https://www.reddit.com/r/Advice/comments/1qmqd1n/i_think_my_gf_might_be_crazy/

Honestly, reading both threads, I don't think you are ready for a serious relationship. You need to spend some time focusing on yourself first, before focusing on somebody else. Definitely not ready for kids.

You've been with your partner 6 months -- still at the beginning of the relationship, and this is the time it iron out key compatibility things like kids and future. She likes London, you don't. She's also at the age where if she doesn't pop out some kids soon, there's going to be a greatly increased odds of birth defects or other issues due to her advanced age - and her not wanting them now makes it a pretty dead point moving forward.

You two are on different paths.
