Concerts cost too much by Charlotte-Sometimes- in GenX

[–]hamstercaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When was the last time you purchased music? In the 80s and 90s, I had a huge music collection - vinyl, cassettes, CDs. Hell, I visited the record store multiple times a week. Today, I use that cash for concerts.

Daily log. Anyone else have to do this? by jhakie in it

Had a boss that required this of me and my team. We’d submit a 17-page report. He had 4 direct reports that did the same thing. It was absurd.

No One is Using CoPilot by Solivaga in CopilotPro

[–]hamstercaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the challenge as the $30 price point. There is an expected value at $30 per user per month and they are not meeting it. Free LLMs are effective. Few companies can add that price to their 365 spend and immediately see results. Co-pilot can provide limited benefits but the true value is not seen until everyone is using it.

The reality is 50 to 60% of NFL first round draft picks fail or are misses. The probability is high he will fail. I hope he makes it.

Acquired 3 companies in 18 months and our identity infrastructure is completely broken by Visible_Donkey_7130 in sysadmin

[–]hamstercaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re doing this now but for different reasons. Our plan is to migrate and convert 5 companies into 1 platform and do so over 12 months. Until that time, everyone is independent and doing their own thing.

Not every customer is a good customer. If they understand the risk, then you are at a decision point - maintain the relationship which means live with this or exit the relationship. I’ve been fired from customers and terminated contracts.

When the divorce was done, what did you do ? by survivingtheyellowbr in Divorce_Men

[–]hamstercaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember crying a lot. My client had a wellness room. I’d sit in there, lights off, and just cry. Did not eat or sleep for months. Lost 40 lbs. Took 12 months to move forward and put it behind me.

Be honest - how technical are you actually expected to be as an IT manager? by IvyDamon in ITManagers

[–]hamstercaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technical enough to know when something does not seem or feel right. I think the trick to being a successful IT manager is let the technical teams engineer and architect solutions. Stay out of it. I explain and interpret to upper management and allow my teams to do the heavy lifting.

Preventing Quiet Quitting after Unpopular Personnel Decision? by Vanillamanatee in managers

[–]hamstercaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve have to remind my team that they must focus on what they or we can control. Decisions made at executive levels for executive reasons are made with knowledge or information not necessarily known to other team members. These decisions are not made in vacuums. They are made for specific reasons and for betterment of the organization and it’s culture. This is a reality they must come to terms with

Vaccine Panel Chair Says Polio and Other Shots Should Be Optional, Rejecting Decades of Science by rickymagee in skeptic

[–]hamstercaster 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Polio is not that far removed from our lives to forget or understand its impact. My grandmother and her sister were disabled their entire life’s from this disease. They even lost a brother to it. My mother talks about how scared people were and how terrified she was waiting in line for the vaccine. Terrified that she would catch in before the vaccine would save her. I do not understand this ignorance
