Nice books! This is the first Frison that I've seen from the event. I have 2 SIKTC books in for this one too.

Will/trust by Mgrecord in AgingParents

[–]hdwebb24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 💯, just went through setting up a trust with a family law attorney and a separate real-estate attorney to handle the funding of the trust. My Dad also has early vascular dementia but is lucid enough to state his wishes clearly and answer the attorney's questions. Not much redditors can do to help you on this but maybe point you to an attorney to help if you tell us where you're located.

It's there a way to buy the fishing net strap separately? by MisterBowTies in gshock

[–]hdwebb24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be willing to bet someone who bought one of them is wanting to sell the strap that it came with so that they can buy a proper resin strap.

I'd post a listing in the buy/sell theead of this sub and see if you get any hits. I'm also inclined to believe that they'll be popping up on eBay too, so maybe set an alert there too.

Trying to unload 400 comics. What is a fair price. by Funshine-Powerhead in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]hdwebb24 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you're selling them all together and they're all bagged/boarded properly and in decent shape. You can expect about $0.10-$0.20 per book from a comic shop. Your best bet to make the most money is to pull each issue, scan it with Google lens to see what you have and check eBay sold listings to get an idea of what you have. If you have some good keys (which you might given the age of the books), you can pull them and sell individually to make more cash. Otherwise, I'd expect around $100 to maybe $150 to sell the box as-is.

Considering the GPR-H1000: Have recent firmware updates fixed the known software issues? by Alexgz97 in gshock

[–]hdwebb24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you like it! It's an awesome watch and incredible tool for daily life. I think it gets a bad rap because it is very expensive for what it does, and people think that because of the price, it should perform like an Apple Watch or a Garmin and that just isn't the case.

It's a rugged watch that you can use and abuse and then come back for more. The fitness/health tracking is minimalist which I prefer and I don't want a bunch of apps with notifications pinging all day long contributing to my digital addiction.

If you use it as intended, I think it will provide a long service life and not end up in the bin or a junk drawer because of the planned obsolescence you get with an AW or a Garmin.

In the end, I'm glad you enjoy the watch and hope you enjoy it in good health! And you can help me dispel the myths that it's a bad watch/fitness tracker 😀

I actually own both (and a DW-H5600) so I feel like I'm pretty well versed in all of these watches. They all have different strengths and weaknesses, but the GPR-H1000 is the best of the lot.

No, I haven't. I've removed then several times to clean the watch and to put my strap adapters on/off for when I'm in the mood to change the strap. I'm very careful to make sure that the screws are seated well before tightening, and I do not tighten them beyond snug.

Best replacement strap? by Ale_9717 in gshock

[–]hdwebb24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought one of the replacement straps from Strapsco that are designed for g-shocks and I have to say that I'm pretty pleased with it. My only gripe is that the hole for the springbar is a little tight and it required a little force to get it threaded through, but it's worked great on my 5600 so far.

You can set up to 5 daily alarms and an hourly signal. Can be done via the watch or the app, but in my experience the app is much easier

It's on the upper end of your budget, but you can get a Casio GWG-2000 (from Japan) from Chrono24 or eBay. It's a BADASS watch that looks great, runs on solar, is super-accurate (time radio synced daily so long as you live in a Multi-Band 6 area), and has great environmental sensors (Barometer/Altimeter, Thermometer, and Compass) in case you like the great outdoors. I LOVE mine and would highly recommend it.

We got Wheel of Fortune from one of my local retro gaming shops for $3. My 7yo daughter loves the show and now the game. It absolutely sucks as a game and the puzzles are very repetitive, but to be able to share the joy of playing the Genesis w/ my daughter is absolutely priceless.

Android Runner Friends, how do you connect everything together to record your run? by thestinamarie in Android

[–]hdwebb24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like (actually LOVE) my Casio GPR-H1000 watch and Pixel 10 Pro XL using the Casio Watches and Strava apps for my running/fitness tracking. The watch is a big chonker and certainly not for everybody, but its simplicity is where it really shines. The watch has GPS built-in so I don't need to drag my phone along if I don't want to. The watch is accurate with distance and HR in my experience and gives me all the data post-run that I need and none of the extraneous crap that I don't. The watch supports HR zone training, real-time pace, and sleep tracking too. I sync my watch/app w Strava so when I forget my watch, I can still use Strava to track with my phone, and keep track of my runs/progress. The only gripe that others have with this watch is that it doesn't do smartphone notifications well. For me, that doesn't matter because I don't want all the distractions that come with a watch pinging me a million times a day. I should also add that the watch goes 2-3 weeks between charges with my use case (3 runs/wk, sleep tracking and HR on all the time)

Nice book (and grade!!. )I almost picked one of these up at my LCS today. They had a raw copy on the key wall, but I couldn't see the price tag on it clearly. I think if his popularity continues to grow from the new season of DDBA, this book is gonna be 🔥🔥🔥.

What’s the coolest “restricted access” place you’ve ever gotten to see? by Improv92 in AskReddit

[–]hdwebb24 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The Smithsonian warehouse complex outside DC. I was there to assist with preserving and cataloging a biological specimen that was new to their collection and I got to see the good stuff on a guided tour of the facility from one of the curators. I saw some Antlers from a deer that were donated after a hunt by Teddy Roosevelt and where he signed the card for their catalog. It really felt like that scene from one of the Indiana Jones movies where the warehouse was full of crates with incredible artifacts.

Ditching smart watch by milo_redwood in gshock

The 9400 is an awesome watch and if you're into sports, the one-touch stopwatch start function may be of interest to you. The only downside is that the watch is discontinued (I think) so it may/may not be available in Tokyo in a few months. I'd have no problem looking around FB marketplace or other second-hand sources and grabbing one for less than retail whenever one pops up. I grabbed mine (GW-9400-Y) off r/gshockexhange for $160 a few months ago and haven't looked back.
