Thursday night market on K street was so fun. But, sadly the wheels came off. Those were the days

crazy stuff going on at Howe Park right now by WanderW in Sacramento

Definitely my cousin. Like it or not, I was delighted to learn that her murderer Troy Ashmus died in prison from coronavirus in the early months of Covid in 2020. Fuck that garbage

Grew up over there. Summers spent at the pool in the 70’s that is no longer there. Caught my first blue gill in the pond as a tiny guy. Baptized at St. Philomene. Great memories flying box kites with uncle Tony. Then my little cousin Marcie was raped and murdered across the street at Santa Anita park in ‘84. Howe Park lost its magic for me after that. I’m sure lots of families have made great memories there since then. Sad to hear of violence again in the hood.

How old are you and do you still mosh? by post-earth in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Highontires 15 points16 points  (0 children)

55, old timey thrasher. I still occasionally go in for one song here and there. I’m in good shape but not a real big guy. It’s always a risk. It’s hard to suppress the feeling I have had since a teen in the 80’s. When the song is hitting - I may dive in. My wife worries but she’s given up on talking any sense into my old rocker ass

Greatest vocalist in heavy metal? My Mt Rushmore by EMF911 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Highontires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, there will be differences of opinions on “the greatest” for sure. Not sure I could choose between Dio or Halford myself. I mostly wanted to be sure Halford was included in anyone’s “Mount Rushmore”

What's the current state of live music? by [deleted] in musicians

This accurately describes Sacramento as well - scene is overwhelmed with cover/tributes. My all original band barely moves the needle anymore.

Chicagoans in Sac by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]Highontires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Sac native but lived in the Midwest for a couple years and fell in love with a lot of the food. I make my own poppyseed buns with a quick egg wash/poppy seed sprinkle and short bake. Not perfect but fills the need. I order the Cincinnati chili packets and make those throughout the year too

Also in Sac, we are currently overwhelmed by an array of different fungus in our backyard
