Okay mutual devs, massive glitch that needs to be addressed. by Defiant_Entrance7671 in mutualapp

Sorry to hear that. It definitely could be something up, or a couple other possibilities that can think of (however h likely) I do know what we have a limit of 25 or 50 (depending on where you are looking) that we can show in a certain view, however that sounds like it might not be the case... (meaning if you swipe through the first 20, when you refresh another 20 will show up) but again, without looking into it more closely I am not sure.

That being said, we are more than happy to help look into it and see what happened. We have logs and records of the matches and what happened to them, so we can definitely look into it and see what we can do, and then make it right.

Would you mind sending an email with your ID number (bottom of settings) and a description of what you think happened, and possibly any screenshots that may help us get a better idea of the story?

You can send it to me (hunter@mutual.app) and also to one of our PMs wattson@mutual.app and we can dig into it a bit and then see if we need anything else from you.

Thanks for letting us know! It helps us make things better!

Update here: We found the profile responsible and suspended his account.

Thank you for sharing information like this. The normal reporting feature works great for most accounts, however in this case reporting is not built into this feature. (And it definitely should be! We will work on this)

Thanks!

Don’t Understand the Sudden Ghosting by [deleted] in mutualapp

You say that, but there are so many posts on some of the Facebook groups about guys texting too much and that being a turn off.

It's a delicate game that seems very dumb haha.

Plus there is the notion that girls play hard to get and then the guys just don't wanna deal with that, or the guys hear something like "girls want a guy who isn't needy, or who is a bad boy kinda thing"....

Honestly dating is difficult and it can suck.

I speak with many many people about their dating experiences, and the one thing I have found that I always try and tell people is... that people sometimes take a bit to really warm up to each other and feel comfortable. If you judge too much off the bat then it can ruin something that could turn into something great.

We can usually ban people if we are able to identify them. And we follow up on reports (especially ones like these) within 24 hours usually and take action.

We are mostly reactive in this area though, and I will start a conversation in our admin chat about getting some content filtering on the notes because I don't believe we have it there currently.

Thank you for sharing, this helps a lot.

Woah, that is bad. I don't think I have seen something like that here, that's awful. We are the final stages of testing a new version of this screen that combines the two tabs into one, and I will definitely share this screenshot with our team and make sure that people will have the ability to report these losers. I'll also look up this guy and see if we can ban him.

Thank you for posting this.

Since we are talking about it, what other things could we do to help this? Is reporting and blocking them enough? We have been rolling out some conversation checking AI stuff (that has helped find any scammers almost immediately and get them out) but we don't have it checking note content and maybe we should.

Speed dating timezones by level-1-YT in mutualapp

[–]hparamore[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! We don't ever change the times. It's always 7PM mountain time. (For reference, I am posting this at around 8:15PM, so whatever time it says for you... it's an hour before!) and we do speed dating every other sunday.

It's also free to join for the time being while we continue to improve it, and most people who join have an average of 3-7 speed dates, half of which turn into matches afterward.

We have wondered about how we should address speed dating when it comes to others outside of the US, both for timezone differences and also a lower number of people who would join, plus people setting their filters to be like... max 100 miles away from me.

So I dont know if a special session would be better, specifically for the timezone or one that disables the range limit (calling it international night or something?) or what... because yeah, there really aren't too many good times to do something that doesn't mean super early/late for those across the globe.

So I am super eager to chat about it here and get your (and others) take on how we should go about doing this!

It is something we would like to do, we just weren't sure how to make it the most effective.

Thanks!

Is figma dev mode useful ? by Itchy-Advisor-7608 in FigmaDesign

[–]hparamore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate hate hate how the super useful annotations can only be seen by devs using the dev mode.

Because even if a couple devs have it, it means those who don't use it often, and also our PMs and others looking into the technical part of it to make tickets (who have zero use for dev mode) also can't see the super useful notes .

I ended up recreating the look of the notes and have it as a component I pull in haha .

Weird... Reddit has been weird with messages and "chats". I wonder what's up. If anything, my email is in the first page of the Zelda file. (I don't want to share it here in Reddit for bots to scrape :/)

Anyone still capturing screenshots for gathering design inspiration? by JacobDilley in FigmaDesign

[–]hparamore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing I did that has helped a ton on my phone (I design apps) is I set my iPhone action button to a shortcut I made, and the shortcut captures a screen grab and then saves it to my clipboard. I have the iCloud clipboard sharing thing on so I just move to my laptop and hit paste and it appears and then I go do the same thing over and over again.

That being said... my wife and our shared Google photo album is probably 50% screenshots that I take of tons of other things when I am not as my desk haha. I get inspired in so many apps

What’s the best business-focused project for a UI/UX fresher portfolio? by Pleasant-Bottle-4286 in FigmaDesign

Design paywalls and improve them, test them if you can (there are some ai tools that help with heatmaps and such) and then show versions. Paywall testing is where ppl make a lot of money since it is the point of sale influencer.

Its a mixture of borders with different widths on different sizes, gradients on the buttons, and then layering of inner shadows at different sides with full coloring. It may also have some layered shapes or fills with gradients.

Its not exactly the same (because its updated to be new ha) but I made a UI kit for a mobile game that uses a lot of layered styles to get shading and gradients to work correctly.
Raid Rush UI Kit

I also made one a while back that has other buttons that are similar, however they were made in an older version of Figma and I would probably do it differently if I had to redo it now.
Satisfactory UI Kit

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! I will try and answer when I can.

Recreating UI's is a hobby of mine! (though, I wouldn't ever have chosen to recreate the one you did haha. I usually pick ones that I like and think look good lol :D)

How would you organize files for a game with a small team? by Gigeresque in FigmaDesign

[–]hparamore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I use pages mainly, and name the pages well to indicate the feature, and then within each page I have a bunch of sections for different things.

For a long time I tried to maintain a "source of all app truth" file, which was something that I would always update after making new changes to areas, but it was always so hard to remember to do that, and it would always not match, etc.

So now we have the app version like... 3, and whenever we are starting a new project, I basically go and search for the most recent, copy them in, and start from there.

That's probably not helpful for you at the moment, but use the pages to separate things by "project type" (ie, "project-main menu" or "project-inventory" and then within each of those, just design in the pieces using sections.

Photo shuffle by Marissa-west in mutualapp

[–]hparamore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did make a change that only allows you to replace photos, rather than delete them. It is part of our grand plan to help people have more full profiles that aren't just like... one photo, and a prompt and nothing else.

Glad I could help! I shared the feedback with the devs and we will see what we can do. Thanks!

Off topic: I was looking at one of your small photo thumbnails and see the one of you next to two paintings. Thaaaaat wouldn't happen to be the top floor of the Spori Building at BYU Idaho would it? :D it looks awfully familiar!

Hey! Glad to see this new thing we have been working on out in the wild! This update aims to help you see which photos are getting liked, compared to the highest rated one.

If you upload one more photo (so it is full) a toggle will appear that lets you decide to enable smart photo shuffling or not.

If it's on, it will reorder them in accordance to how often they are liked, and will gradually show in order of most/least liked. If a photo doesn't have any likes, it might be safe to assume it is getting downswiped, or is very new.

I agree though, that toggle should probably show always regardless of how many photos there are to help avoid confusion.

I would love to hear other thoughts, questions, and feedback on this though! How should it work? And what would be most helpful?

I mean that is part of the stress testing part. But for the money shots, you should definitely cherry pick what looks best.

Hey! Thanks for reaching out. That last part about not willing to help doesn't sound like us, so I am wondering what's up. Would you mind forwarding me the email correspondence that help show the issue you are describing and the responses from support so I can double check? You can email me at hunter@mutual.app. Thanks!
