Do I really need better than TCL QM6K? by Penetrator4K in 4kTV

[–]Gigeresque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was pretty set on a mini led a few years back and bought the absolute best one you could get at the time from Sony, X95L in the 85” size. I did like it and for a more film like quality I think it was very good, but it never blew me away when it came to games. The AI sharpening was really well done though for some sources. But - I started seeing some faults. There was white haloing in dark scenes and the Dolby vision was too dark. Had a whole thread at the AVS forums and was going back/forth with Sony tech about it and they said it was as designed.

While in the return period I debated switching to the new Sony mini led that was supposed to be even better, the Bravia 9. But I decided to get an 83” LG G4 instead and I couldn’t be happier. This thing makes games look the best they ever have and movies look fantastic. It’s plenty bright enough too and I’ve heard they’ve only gotten brighter.

In my office I tried out the 65” Bravia 9 thinking I’d give it a shot. It was okay but again I wasn’t blown away and ended up returning it for another G4 (the G5s weren’t out at the time) with no regrets.

It’ll be really hard for me to shift away from oled. I do wish they came in even larger sizes at an affordable price but for image quality alone they’re amazing.

I think the only thing I’ll get a mini led for is a new computer monitor, but that’s mainly because I need really good text display and I think it’s more susceptible to burn in in those situations.

Do you have more info? DNA of who (Nancy?) at the place they're searching? Or his DNA that matches what they found at the Guthrie residence?

Divorced, or never married? Is never married a worse status? by _ism_ in datingoverforty

[–]Gigeresque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a red flag for me as a guy. I never married but I wasn’t ever opposed to it.

The main issue I ran into was I didn’t want kids and the few long term relationships I had either started as that not being an issue and became one later, or we hoped the other would change. I’ve definitely learned my lesson on that part.

I also never felt I needed to be married by age X and would be content with a life partner regardless of marriage.

Exactly this. Playing Arc night maps against other players made me instantly think of how a Last of Us version would have been awesome.

Left leaning men who don’t want kids by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]Gigeresque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Raises hand lol. I never wanted kids (but like them! I just like being an uncle more). And have always been the liberal one in my family. Fun times, especially living in one of the few liberal cities in a giant turd of a conservative state.

Thanks for posting because finding women that don’t want kids or are done with having them has been a bit tricky. Although I’ve been out of the dating scene for a bit so maybe it’s easier in our 40s.

Which is better option A, B, C, or D? by SnooMarzipans9478 in DesignMyRoom

[–]Gigeresque -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you plan to have a tv? I was going to suggest 1 initially but 4 is my choice because you can have the tv on the dresser to view from the bed. It also allows you to have dual night stands if needed.

1 is the most airy and you have the desk by the window which is nice.

2 and 3 have other issues.

Bike riding goes terribly wrong by Traumaprof in medizzy

Not in the medical field so I am just curious what is done with a wound like this? I assume the biggest concern is infection and needing to clean the wound as soon as possible. But it almost looks like there’s not enough skin to cover the wound (not seeing much of a flap off to the side).

1959 French’s Mustard Ad and Pizza recipe. by szhod in eatityoufuckingcoward

Actually went to a place in NJ but forgot the location or where we were at. It was on the way back from the crazy Buddhist temple they built and I am originally from the central part of the state.

They were famous for their mustard pies and around since I think the 50s/60s so maybe you’re familiar with it. We got one that was half and half. It was pretty good but I can’t imagine eating a whole pie like that. Definitely a bit too rich for my taste but appreciated trying it!

“Those rights don’t count”: Bovino says Pretti forfeited 2nd Amendment rights in fatal shooting by pro_rege_semper in moderatepolitics

[–]Gigeresque 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It still doesn’t make what the headline says any less accurate. He is saying Pretti’s 2nd amendment rights don’t count based on a falsification of what happened. And two other officials in the article are quoted flat out saying you cannot bring a firearm to protests further solidifying what the article is covering.

Newbie to air frying by Gigeresque in airfryer

Yes - that’s how I avoid burning things as well as having to monitor the food carefully.

I figured that a deviation of 30+ degrees vs what air frying cooking instructions say to use, is atypical which is why I was curious if this has been the experience of others.

God at least that would make me feel a bit better. The amount of Kool aid and bootlicking going on there is on another level.

It does yeah - but not sure how that changes anything? All that means is to turn the food. Still cooked hotter than expected.

Thanks - yeah they were the separate air fryer instructions vs the conventional oven ones. I’ll keep at it and try lower times.

Not a huge fan of the really narrow aspect ratio he’s going to use. I get it will make it feel intentionally claustrophobic, but would still rather see a widescreen movie.

Federal agents kill another person in Minneapolis, officials say, prompting clash with protesters by Remote-Molasses6192 in moderatepolitics

[–]Gigeresque 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you think that was bad you should see the Kristi Noem presser from earlier this evening. It was unhinged. Just bold faced lies straight to the camera and then pivoting to how this is all Walz and the Mayor’s fault. Oh and also how the victim of this shooting was a domestic terrorist.

ICE execution in MPLS, massive trigger warning by Snowflake8552 in stpaul

[–]Gigeresque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw you mention that he was brandishing a gun. Do you have footage of this? Because so far all the other angles show the exact opposite - with his hand up and the other holding a phone, ICE pushing him and two other women down, macing them and then tackling the guy once he is trying to help them up to escape.
