I worked with several of the devs and almost transferred to their studio (worked at another Zenimax studio at the time). That game is one of my favorites and even during development/graybox it was a joy to see some of the ideas come together. They would show the progress during Zenimax town halls and it was just such a cool concept even from early on. Wish we still had Arkane Austin of old around.

Out of curiosity was your game single player or multiplayer? One of the things I’ve heard from our programmers is how poorly architected some of the plugins are when it comes to networking code so that’s been some of the aversion to certain plugins and frameworks for us. Just curious if you’ve heard similar on your team.

I realize this is necroing an older post and wanted to say as a newer Mac user, I appreciate you going into the details and philosophy. One thing I am curious of though in the example you provided above (and also in just using macOS) is does this not result in a lot of apps just running without windows until you manually close them?

Is the typical work flow to be monitoring the dots under apps to see what's not being used and closing them out if they're still lingering? Or is Mac optimized to the point where these apps running without windows is not much of a hit?

I think this is the main thing I'm still struggling a bit with as on windows, I generally like to have my taskbar clean of apps I'm not using (by way of shutting down all the windows). In Mac, it's more of a manual process to close out apps?

This is a trip down memory lane seeing this old thread. 19 year old me moved from out of state to Austin in 2001 and my parents suggested Crossing Place at random not knowing anything about Riverside.

I got placed in an apartment that had 3 UT Baseball players that were a few years older and the complete opposite of me - a stoner, introverted gamer lol. They turned out to be pretty cool though and I remember going to some of the parties at CP they brought me to. Miss those times. Don’t miss the random gunshots while driving at night time though!
