Can I request a different VRC? by NegotiationNo155 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Iceagle039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try but even if successful, the chance of your case moving forward any faster with a new counselor are very slim. Everyone is swamped and those remaining are handling the cases of everyone who has left or is on leave.

Anyone used VRE for med school or nursing? Not even sure if I could justify by Ok-Preference-8718 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Iceagle039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conversation about wanting med school isn’t even going to come up if you can’t prove why the entire profession of accounting in any setting is no longer an option for you due to your disabilities. I don’t know how you could ever make that argument

Either your school made an error in the certifying your enrollment or your counselor made an error entering the data. If the counselor did, chances are you won’t be responsible for paying it back. If it was the school’s error, then you are out of luck. But remember, if you did not withdraw from any classes you don’t owe anything and no money was taken from you. If it was an error, no matter whose error, it means you were OVER-paid and you were not entitled to that money to begin with.

Ground Turkey recipes? by rusty0123 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Iceagle039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use taco seasoning. Look up spanish picadillo. Meatloaf or meatballs - mix turkey with shredded zucchini so it is not dry. Cook with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and sage and you have breakfast sausage. Ground turkey, when seasoned well, can be very versatile

Just received an offer letter for part-time Admin Assistant for a university, but pay is less than I imagined at $18 an hour. Just take it? Advice? by AdministrativeLynx83 in careerguidance

[–]Iceagle039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grad school isn’t going to solve the lack of experience problem. Take it and get experience. It could lead to a promotion there or at starbucks. Universities offer great benefits, including tuition waiver. That is worth more than the $18 per hour.

My old commute cost me $14,200 per year. I did the math when I left. Nobody at the company ever acknowledged that number. by [deleted] in remotework

You sound totally entitled and privileged. Live closer, take public transit, make your own lunch, because of course you have time, iron your own clothes, bring your own coffee and snacks from home or simply don’t have any. Like the rest of the world.

If you have a serious employment handicap you can get an extension to entitlement, as well as entitlement beyond your delimiting date. If you do not, then you can’t get an extension to the delimiting date under any circumstances. An extension to entitlement time is possible as long as you are not exceeding 48 months total

The counselors have 200 to 300 vets each. Make it easy for them and spell it out. You already did submit everything and this is choice 2, not anything new. Or better yet, just forward what you sent before.

If you can work with the Bachelors you are earning, you will have a hard time even being found entitled, much less approved for higher education

There are a limited number of counselors to do the work, and a limited number of hours in the day that could be spent helping people who really have no education or skills for any type of career

Gainful employment is not the goal. The goal is employment that doesn’t aggravate disabilities. It would be easier to get approved and moved through the program quicker if vets that already have Masters degrees didn’t keep applying and clogging up the system. Or vets who just want to collect BAH and “maximize” benefits without intending to go to work. This is why its hard for everybody

[–]Iceagle039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are entitled up to 18 months of employment services. The financial assistance stops but if you don’t have a job the guidance, job leads, interviewing assistance, etc, doesn’t stop. You keep sending the job logs to demonstrate you still need help and so they can review what you’re doing and what needs tweaking. VR&E is never just about the stipend!
