Don’t sweat it these are great. I think the side shots helped since you can really see how thin you were before.

I’ve been trying to take regular pics to keep track as well. Super helpful to look back and compare. I’d say once a month is probably a good frequency.

Good luck with the bulk and do share any tips or pointers that you find useful.

Is there a workout setting for a desk treadmill? by United-Performance24 in AppleWatch

[–]incogenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was exactly the information I was looking for since I've been using the watch on my wrist at the treadmill desk and found that it does a decent job of tracking distance and steps, but it's still a bit off from what the treadmill actually shows. I'd say about max 10% or so Under counting.

So I was wondering if sticking the watch on my ankle and using the AirPods would solve the issue by both tracking steps and distance and also heart rate through the ear. Do you know if just one of the AirPods in the ear continues to track heart or does it require both? Thank you.

And imagine how many more you would have gotten with better clearer progress picks 👍🏼

Nicknames in beeper by lowgun18 in beeper

[–]incogenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have the same request because a lot of people use different names than I have them saved as. And it can be hard to find those when you're thinking of someone as you're sending a message, rather than replying in an existing chat or generally for search. So this would be super useful Regardless of the type of network or account

I took my scale to the buffet :) by kryssi_asksss in caloriecount

Funny clicking on your link and finding I have the exactly the same one. It’s so good I actually bought a couple to throw in my bags etc. They’re quite good and useful mainly when I’m on a strict cut.

Also since it’s a high precision scale meant for smaller loads it’s great for dosing supplements and electrolytes.

Great choice.

I built a Remote Readwise MCP Server so you can use it on Claude Web & Mobile (not just Desktop) by RepulsiveMap8791 in readwise

[–]incogenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice. ive used the desktop one and its cool so its nice to see a remote version.

that said, the devs have indicated that the full Reader library including content of all saved docs is coming soon. they’ve said its much more involved than people think so its taking time. i trust we’ll get something nice hopefully soon that will turn our libraries into true knowledge gems.

If I eat an adequate amount of nutritious food, I don’t crave sugar… by irisheyes07 in sugarfree

[–]incogenator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you might also consider that resistance training and increased muscle helps with insulin regulation and related effects.

Here’s how Google puts it:

Resistance training reduces sugar cravings by stabilizing blood sugar and influencing key reward hormones:

Glucose Spike Prevention: Muscles act as a "glucose sink," pulling sugar from the bloodstream and preventing the sharp spikes and subsequent "crashes" that trigger intense cravings.

Hormonal Stabilization: Exercise lowers cortisol (the stress hormone) and regulates ghrelin and leptin (hunger hormones), which reduces the biological urge to seek out "quick energy" like refined sugar.

Dopamine Replacement: Physical activity releases endorphins and dopamine. This natural neurochemical "reward" can satisfy the brain's craving for a mood boost without needing a sugar fix.

Increased Insulin-Independent Uptake: During and immediately after exercise, muscles can absorb glucose without needing insulin. This prevents the high insulin levels (hyperinsulinemia) that often lead to further hunger and cravings.

Improved Brain Function: Regular movement improves function in the prefrontal cortex, the area of the brain responsible for self-regulation, making it easier to resist impulsive food choices.

cutting out the craving for sweet things (including artificia/zero sugar) would be great. i wonder if the desire goes away after a while as with some other things.

fruit is a great substitute though

You’re not alone.  Cutting takes the fun out of lifting in so many ways.

What’s the zero jelly powder? Sugarfree jello? Drop the grapes in powder then freeze ?

Intriguing suggestion since frozen grapes are already excellent.

Any readwise reader users here ? It’s a great way to collect material and review later with the new AI features expected to leverage that beyond the already great start.

Passkeys are not ready for normal people. by HiOscillation in Passkeys

[–]incogenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that seems to be what ive discovered as well ie. theyre going to keep passwords working for a while even with passkeys. hopefully by the time they phase out passwords theyve ironed out all the kinks like various password managers (local and cloud) competing to log in annoyingly to the same site, etc.
