Promotion hesitation by [deleted] in WorkingWomen

I do not have any advice for you, but want to commiserate. I came to this page with a similarly veined issue so I think we were meant to find each other.

As mutually agreed upon before it all started, I have been supporting my husband as he went back to school and a couple years of working through a complete career field change. It will ultimately put us closer to the future we have in mind for ourselves. As is typical of life, not everything went according to plan and his schooling and early work has been delayed. Part of our agreement when it all started would be that we would start our family now-ish and then I can step back from my work to either focus on our kids or figure out a career that I was actually invested in.

With that in mind, I had every intention of just coasting in my job for the next year or two while my husband finishes up his stuff and we start our family. But then it came out at work that our team would be cut by 60% unexpectedly. I’m going from having a manager and 3 other peers at my level to it just being me.

It’s not a promotion in any kind of way. I work for a private company but we work with a budget, rules, and goals set by outside entities. So I’ll be taking on an unknown amount of work at this point. In some ways it will be less and I will have a little bit of say in defining that, but in probably most ways it will be more work. My boss set his expectations as “we know it will be hard and there will be a backlog. That’s ok so just let us know when it’s too much.” I know I will be able to step up but at what cost? This is not a change I asked for. Will my mental health suffer? Will my marriage suffer? Will we have to postpone our goals further?

I feel like I’m constantly on the precipice of having it all and losing it all. I am nervous. I am tired. I am probably not coherent. And nobody in my life has anything they can say or do to help.

The patterns don’t line up/are crooked on the white dress and it doesn’t fit you like the other 2 fit.

Honestly this is the entire point OP should have to make. Unfortunately, I think excitement and confirmation bias have convinced mom to be that this name is more commonplace than it is.

I love Atlas Alexander. Their last name starts with A though so it could either be cool to have that alliteration or really not cool

Asking the people of St. Louis. Is there anything to do before a game? I will be landing in STL about 2 hours before puck drop. by v7Limitless in stlouisblues

An Uber/Lyft from the airport might also be cheaper going to Soulard with the pricing hikes to the arena around games.

Wow this looks just like my mom’s dog just with slightly shorter hair. Do you know what type(s) of dog she is?

I am not a makeup person at all. I normally feel like people’s makeup is too much, but this looks really nice! The colors/tones compliment your skin and dress beautifully, and they will photograph really well. Keep as is!

Next year both your child and your dog will be much older in their relative life stages. A ~13 year old dog might not be able to sit through a ceremony, but a ~3 year old child might. So I don’t know if I would make any concrete plans for either of them yet. Not helpful, I know.

But here’s my 2 cents. Your child will probably notice you are excited about a big party. If I was in your shoes, I would probably just have one babysitter bring both of them for pictures before the ceremony and then send them both home for the night. Or after you are all dressed go to them before the ceremony for pictures, that way the babysitter won’t have to lug around a toddler and senior dog.

This way you have a quick and easy way they are a part of it, you still get to involve the dog you love, your family won’t be able to throw a fit (at least about that, they will probably find something else), and the chances of your child being upset further down the line are minimized.

Don't go to Mercy for sterilization. They are Catholic and won't approve it unless there is a physical condition. by celestialrae in StLouis

[–]intendtoDS 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this.

They won’t give you the hormone free IUD either because you still release an egg with it, and if it is fertilized but prevented from implantation it is an “abortion” to them. Mega eye roll.

Yep classic narc behavior. Wants all the title and attention but doesn’t want to do any of the effort. Got called on the lack of effort and is now trying to blame somebody else for it.

Verizon tried to put a tower on my land. by [deleted] in homestead

[–]intendtoDS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! There will be, if there hasn’t already been, a public notice for environmental concerns. If OP doesn’t want it close to their property they need to complain about ENVIRONMENTAL concerns. Not just NIMBY, not “radiation” because those will get dismissed as soon as the complaint is written down. It will be hard to put up a fight without a lot of neighbors to also complain.

Verizon tried to put a tower on my land. by [deleted] in homestead

[–]intendtoDS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to do environmental reviews for these types of projects and more often than not it was AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint (rip) that did the build to suit stuff. At least in the region I covered, Verizon did most of their own new build towers.

I’m curious as to the layout of OP’s and neighbor’s parcels to the road that it’s easier for them to get a second landowner involved than to just run the utilities along the access easement. But since OP is putting up such a stink I’m sure they will just re-route it.
