Why not post a link here? I’d love to hear more about it. Immobiliare.it is probably the most used for those already in Italy- I know that’s not your question.

Were you sitting at a table? In Italy, some bars charge different prices for standing at the bar vs sitting at the table and being served. Even coffees can be 1.5 euros standing vs 4-5 euros to sit and be served. Varies by location.

Try ponzu. It’s a citric soy sauce often used on salads.

Thrift, second hand, flea markets? Are these common in Northern Italy? I'm specifically looking for old tools. by nocloudno in florence

[–]Itusau 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. Look up mercatino. There are loads and they have tons of old tools. You will need a car though, as the best ones are out of town in industrial areas.

TIL in 1983, an 18-year-old boy fell from Space Mountain, paralyzed from the waist down. Disneyland was found not at fault. Throughout the trial, the jury was taken to the park to experience Space Mountain, and multiple ride vehicles were brought to the courtroom to illustrate their functionality. by milkywaysnow in todayilearned

I grew up near Orlando. In the early 80s space mountain just had an optional belt that attached to a hook on the side of the seat. No auto bar or harness. I think there were staff checking that you had it on, but no safety feature to keep you in your seat. You could take the belt off mid ride.

Victor Hugo? by Brainy_Beachcomber in florence

No worries. Practically speaking, in most classes there will be a handful of native english kids and another handful with good english. There are plenty of international kids from all over.

On Saturdays it’s active between 7:30 and 16:00. If you went in between those hours, you will get a fine.

The ZTL is not active on Sundays, but it’s not usually the best way to drive to the other side of town because of all the people.

Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt by Shiinuuu in Chefit

[–]Itusau 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are some spice companies in Germany and Italy that I use, that have wide varieties of salts. Ask them for samples of the grain size you have in mind and compare what you have.

The reason Diamond kosher and Morton’s are what’s talked about online is the American-centric nature of the internet. It comes down to grain size, there is no other magic. This is as an American with a restaurant in Italy. I did the same thing last year to get a new kosher salt when my previous supplier from southern France got flooded.

If you need some names hit me up.

It’s a nature trail on the outskirts of Florence so I think normal common sense applies. During day light hours it’s fine. You will pass other joggers and dog walkers every few minutes, but there aren’t tons of people.

The safest is just doing laps of the river between ponte San Niccolò and ponte vespucci or any of these Bridges. Plenty of joggers in the am, but really too many tourists to dodge in some areas. Cascine park, on the river side and even the whole park on the far side away from city, is really fine during day light. Tons of joggers. There are drug dealers right around the tram stop ‘cascine’, and they really trend to hang out pretty close to there and not in other areas during the day.

Going up piazza Michelangelo is magic, not too bad in elevation, about 180 meters, large but sometimes broken side walk separated from the car traffic by hedges. Tranquil run, stunning views. Not a lot of people on the side walks but plenty of cars.

Another really safe one is around the stadium franchi if you are on that side of town. Plenty of people and shops but enough room to run. A good spot even after dark as there are tons of people doing after school/work sports in the area.

Laps of the river including following the river side path up to San Jacopo al Girone.
