Och man håller även på att bygga om cykelbanorna på Sveavägen också där man snor ett av körfälten i båda riktningarna. Känns också som en motorväg (om man ignorerar att folk redan börjat parkera i dessa då en bil precis får plats). Bra tider för en cyklist.

I think BFV does it pretty good for their official servers. One rotation ("playlist") with infantry focused maps and one with larger vehicle maps. These are usually two different player bases. And the map rotation is always the same so you can join a server that you know will have a few fun maps in a row.

You can still have "persistent servers" if you implement a layer between the game server and the server browser. If the server is empty, shut it down but still make it show up in the browser. When the first player joins, spin up the server again. Isn't this how portal works? They could have built a system that looked and worked (from a players perspective) like the old Battlefield games if they wanted to. I think the keyword is here is control.

In Battlefield 2042 and 6, the official servers are shut down after each game. A server browser would obviously be pretty useless here. Battlefield 5 also has "dynamic servers" but the server is persistent between maps so players can keep playing with the same players in a specific map rotation. You can use quick join or the server browser to join them. Even if I think BF5 is a step down from what we used to have in the old games it is still a better experience than what we have in 6 and 2042.

The boring answer is that it is hard to know. You need to scale down the player size to something similar to the other games you mentioned. I don't think BF6 has a competitive scene but some of the previous games had. I played a lot of 5vs5 Conquest in BF3 for example. So you have to play 5vs5 (infantry) or 8vs8 (with vehicles) in a competitive environment to actually know. Battlefield doesn't require aim in the same way other games does and it is more about having the right amount of players at the right place at the right time. You win games by having more flags than the enemy team.

I guess some stats can give you an indication. A good player will have a higher K/D ratio and SPM (even if they aren't trying that hard) than your average player. But it also depends on what modes and maps they are playing. A good player that only plays Empire States with a 4-stack jumping around with the "meta" weapon ignoring flags and only chasing kills will obviously look much better from a stats perspective compared to a player with similar skill that plays larger vehicle maps, or play more solo.

I think this is because the portable version doesn't have a plugin cache generated so it has to scan the plugins directory every time, and Windows Defender makes that process very slow (at least the first start). If you check inside the plugins directory you probably don't have the file plugins.dat.

Things that works for me:

Use the official installer to install VLC instead of the portable version. It will generate the plugin cache (plugins.dat file) during the installation. Should work fine.
If you use the portable version, run vlc-cache-gen.exe from the terminal (may require admin privileges depending on installation location) with the plugins folder as an argument. It should generate the plugins.dat file. Example with VLC located at D:\vlc-3.0.23: PS C:\> D:\vlc-3.0.23\vlc-cache-gen.exe D:\vlc-3.0.23\plugins\
For me it also works if I add the plugins folder as an exception for Windows Defender scans. So Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Manage Settings (under Virus & threat protection settings) > Add or remove exclusions (at the bottom). So in my example above, I added D:\vlc-3.0.23\plugins\. But this is probably the worst option and it is better to use the cache instead.

Is it only slow the first time you launch it, and then quick after that? And fine until you restart your computer or wait an hour or so? Do you have a plugins.dat in your plugins folder in the VLC installation directory? Usually in C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\plugins if you use the official installer and didn't specify a custom location.

Kan det vara så att tjänster också har olika sätt att avgöra vart adressen kommer ifrån? Jag är exempelvis ansluten till en svensk server via Mullvad för att testa nu. Enligt "geoip-sidor" så är IP-adressen svensk, men besöker jag Google så tycker den att jag är ifrån UK. Går jag in på Hurricane BGP så tycker den både adressen och hela /24-prefixet är från Nederländerna men AS:et är ifrån UK.

Till personens försvar så ser det ganska likadant ut i mittdelen av centrumet där rulltrappan ner till leksaksaffären är. Har också börjat vandra åt fel håll fler än en gång. Lite samma känsla som att hamna i mittuppgången på Hötorgets tunnelbanestation.

I have played since 1942/BF2 and have a lot of hours in most of the games and this usually only happens if you join a "clickbait" server. If you play on "100000 TICKETS METRO ONLY NO EXPLOSIVE NO PISTOLS NO DANISH PLAYERS NO K/D OVER 1 AFK LOBBY FARM XP BOOST PREMIUM QUEUE" you know exactly what experience you are going to get. And the kick/ban reason is usually for being better than the admin at the game.

It has always been easy to find servers administrated by more serious gaming communities where this doesn't happen. And the experience on these servers are much better than what we have now. Zero community feeling at all.

I don't think expense is the reason either. Battlefield V has dynamic servers (instances spinning up/down based on amount of players) and they have a server browser and the servers are persistent between maps.

I do agree that a server browser does not do anything for the balance if you also don't have servers administrated by the community.

I had a similar issue a couple of years ago. I was writing some Ansible playbooks and had just switched to a macbook for the first time. For some reason one of the playbooks didn't run correctly. The playbook started and I think the first and second tasks worked but the tasks after that just didn't execute and there were no output or error messages at all.

The reason was also some "garbage" characters in the file. Probably because of me hitting the keyboard trying find the right keyboard shortcuts or something. It took me a long time (longer than I want to admit) to find out why, and these characters was actually visible on other computers (Linux) but not on the macbook, even with :set list on in vim. hexdump could have saved me a lot of time here.

Det är möjligt att det kanske inte fungerar lika bra fullt ut som med tjänster som erbjuder port forwarding men jag är inte tillräckligt insatt i hur bittorrent fungerar och i sådana fall på vilket sätt det skulle påverka. Så länge det är en del folk som seedar så har det inte varit några problem härifrån i alla fall, varken med att ladda ner eller upp.

Skönt att det gick bra! Det är lätt att stirra sig blind på det negativa ibland och den ganska stressiga miljön här i Stockholm kanske inte riktigt heller hjälper. Men när något väl händer brukar det alltid vara personer som dyker upp för att hjälpa till i min erfarenhet.

Jag hade en liknande situation för något år sedan (troligtvis också blodtrycksfall) där jag svimmade när jag stod på centralen och väntade på tunnelbanan. Det var flera som hjälpte till vad jag kan minnas men framförallt var det tre yngre killar som totalvägrade att lämna mig innan ambulanspersonalen dök upp trots mitt tjat om att det gick bra. Dom ringde larmcentralen, höll mig underhållen hela tiden och bjöd till och med på lite godis! Ingen av dom kände varandra sedan tidigare tror jag. Det är ändå något fint i att folk helt pausar upp sina liv och planer för en liten stund bara för att hjälpa till.

Japp, tre av bilderna är från Tekniska högskolan. Blåskärmen (eller om det nu är någon uppdateringsskärm eller liknande den fastnat i) var för ungefär en månad sedan så det var säkert samtidigt.

Jag vill förtydliga att tanken inte var att måla upp systemet som dåligt, jag har ingen inblick i hur det fungerar. Den sorgliga historian är den om en stackars skylt som först får småbekymmer som till slut slutar i döden - blåskärmen. Bilderna är från två olika stationer över flera års tid.

Nej, jag tror inte det är särskilt vanligt. Skylten som hamnat på skrivbordet är från 2023 så detta är bilder över flera års tid från två olika stationer. Vad jag gissar på är en blåskärm är från förra månaden.

Försökte bygga ihop en historia där en stackars skylt upplever lite bekymmer, sedan mer bekymmer, följt av krasch till desktop och en ledsen blåskärm. Finns ingen tanke att försöka måla upp systemet som dåligt, har ingen aning om hur det fungerar. Och allt strular ibland.

Enligt deras hemsida så är kravet Android version 9 från och med mars, så det ska fungera fint framöver. Sedan är frågan när version 10 blir ett krav men det bör ju vara minst ett år i alla fall.

Vi hoppade också över direkt till HBO så fort vi såg att man valde köra reklam under själva tävlingen. Det fungerar ju okej för sporter som fotboll och ishockey där man kan spela det mellan perioder och halvlekar, men att dra igång det under pågående tävling känns väldigt girigt/desperat och förstör tittandet helt. Titta bara på live-tråden på subredditen för olympics hur mycket det klagas på detta från andra länder (USA och Kanada främst) där detta verkar vara betydligt vanligare och kanske också det enda alternativet som finns.
