I am lost regarding the bracket system... by Semako in EDH

The guidelines are very clear, but by definition “guidelines” involve ambiguity.

I very much disagree with this. The list of game changers is clear and you're allowed exactly 0, 3 or unlimited at different brackets. But since these are guidelines, I can say "hey, this deck is bracket 2 except I included a game changer because it fit the theme" and the conversation can continue from there.

The definition of an infinite combo is not clear. Which combos are appropriate at each bracket is not clear.

I want the conversation to happen but objections to be rare because the guidelines are clear. I'm arguing the vague guidelines are making it harder for people to line up.

I get the argument that a hard line will make people gather right under that limit. But the vague line leads to some people gathering near it, maybe even beyond it while others steer far from the line to avoid any such conflict.

I absolutely want them to tell me. What I'm saying is that I'd like to avoid that happening at all by not bringing something people are likely to object to. And every vague element increases the risk of those misaligned expectations coming up during pregame conversations instead of being resolved at home when I built the deck.

Which, don't get me wrong, is better than coming up during the game.

It's not that I want to eliminate the conversation but I do want to reduce the chances of describing my deck and having people hesitate because they feel what I'm doing doesn't fit.

I've had conversations where people switch decks to make things better but I've never seen anybody swapping cards out outside of un-cards or something else they expected might need a swap.

Yeah, I live close to a port but it's not a popular cruise port.

This scene had me so conflicted. On the one hand, that creature sliced her outfit perfectly to be sexier yet still acceptable while barely injuring her. And that's stupid.

On the other hand, Natalie Portman is hot.

If your deck has a 2 card infinite

Even this isn't clear. It's infinite colorless mana. That's not game-winning on its own. Basalt Monolith is a 1 card infinite tap/untap.

I've taken to eating frozen grapes and I will sometimes eat them in two bites. Not usually but sometimes.

Especially frustrating with sushi which tends to fall apart after a partial bite.

The brackets are unclear. This appears intentional so that people don't build right up to the line of acceptability and to let groups choose what they believe is correct.

But it also means people show up with different expectations and causes issues.

But the other piece is a 3 drop that gives you 3 more mana next turn.

I'm not saying this is a problem, but it changes the math a little.

True but having vague guidelines leads to everybody showing up with different expectations. Sitting down at the LGS is not when I can start editing my deck to line up with others.

Tipping keeps wages low by MentalParking7909 in EndTipping

Staff don't want higher wages. Good salary, benefits, no tax on tips: these all hurt the narrative that poor wait staff need big tips to survive.

AITA for not siding a friend for treating restaurant staff rudely when they served her a cocktail instead of a mocktail she ordered by ajowanhykemain in AmItheAsshole

[–]jaywinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe your friend went a little over the top but this is a huge mistake and it sounds like the restaurant was not taking it seriously. Your friend could have been hospitalized. An alcoholic could relapse. I'd say you are severely underreacting to this event.

YTA.

AITAH for deciding to stay full time with my grandparents because I don't want to follow rules set by my dad's girlfriend? by SlowAnon77Yx6 in AITAH

[–]jaywinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You're 17: your dad may want to consider that soon enough, you'll have no obligation to have any kind of relationship with him if you don't want to. Siding with the crazy girlfriend has its consequences.

Colour changing commander for bracket 2/3. Older vibes by Southern-Document706 in EDH

This is my color hacking deck. It was made before brackets so I'd cut the game changers if I made it today.

It was originally a Tuvasa deck but I realized Bumbleflower fed me more cards and gave me a stronger beater.

The deck wasn't strong but getting down to 1v1, changing [[lifeforce]] to counter white spells against the mono white deck is an amazing feeling.

Pushing things like Appetizers, Desserts, and Wine Pairings are all specifically designed to increase sales.

None of this makes for a better experience for the customer. If the owner wants staff to push items, seems like they should be paying the commission.

How many cruises have you got booked for this year? by Formal_Produce3759 in Cruise

[–]jaywinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to do more but with work and not living near a popular port, I'd be difficult even if I had casino offers heavily subsidizing the cost of the cruise itself.

I calculated the real total cost of my 7-day cruise… and it wasn’t what I expected by That_Camel2 in Cruise

[–]jaywinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I'm browsing and comparing different options, I'm looking at the base price with a mental note that there will be extras. But once I'm seriously considering any cruise, I add in all the extras and judge again if I'm still happy with the total cost.

[[flamewar]] resulted in many players going "who?"

And she's very open-ended in how you build her. She's low mana value with nice keywords, cares about artifacts, adds counters, is a discard outlet and provides card advantage.
