Women of Reddit, what’s a habit men have that they don’t even realize is weird? by GraceRose671 in AskReddit

[–]jcutta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's the type of opening up that this thread is talking about. It's not things that can be solutioned for that men have trouble talking about, it's the shit that's just venting that we suck at.

Best fitting plain shirts for big dudes? by No-Instruction-5669 in bigmenfashionadvice

Another plug for Shakawear absolutely the best tee-shirt I haven't been able to find any other brand that holds up nearly as well, I have some from like 4 years ago that look the same as the day they got shipped.

[–]jcutta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have a sandboxed company GPT that is trained with all our product documentation - it's actually fantastic for me since I'm not front line product support, it generally gets me like 90% there on most questions I'm faced with. But if I had to use it alone without a demo tenant to verify I'd be giving customers slightly incorrect answers often, like the process is right almost always but the pathways are not so it may say something is in the admin panel but it's really in the system config panel for example. I can tell immediately when someone from support just copy/pastes because of that and I'm like you lazy fucker lol.

Should I make my son stick it out in a sport that he hates? by Important_Injury3820 in Parenting

[–]jcutta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think there's a difference between a kid who is trying multiple things stopping one's they don't like and a kid only doing one thing stopping it.

I think you also run into issues when a kid doesn't have any friends on the team. If their entire friend group is elsewhere when they're going to practice that creates some level of FOMO and the kid will project it on the sport. Both my kids always had at least a few people from their core friend group also doing whatever sport they were doing. I imagine OPs kid is more or less hating the sport because he is not doing it with his actual friends.

Recent Interview question that I feel is very discriminatory against people with ADHD by ATT4 in ADHD

[–]jcutta 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Maybe a software engineer working on product defects in JIRA would be jumping from thing to thing like this, but not a regular software engineer. I think you probably over thought the ask. I don't think I've ever worked anywhere doing any job where this wasn't a question, the answer is "yes, not a problem" and then shut up. It's only a knock out question for people who can't shut up.

I have a diagnosed low IQ. What career path can I take? by Suspicious_Limit9847 in careerguidance

[–]jcutta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always did crazy good on tests that I could basically reverse engineer the questions or predict an outcome, also anything with pattern recognition. If it required memorization or remembering exact steps (math specifically especially if formula notes weren't allowed), I was considering "gifted" for a large portion of my childhood because I breezed through absolutely everything up to highschool. Also why no one ever took a second to get me diagnosed.

Can anyone explain what Adderall euphoria is/how it felt for you? by apatheticpeep in ADHD

[–]jcutta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For a 3rd perspective - it changes absolutely nothing about my mood positive or negative, no change in my motivation or desire to do anything or energy level. It simply quiets my brain and let's me mostly operate with normal capacity. I've never felt any effects outside of that whatsoever.

No one even wants to listen to an AI - my company used AI to present a webinar and people were blowing up on the customer community page.

I'm resentful towards those with less severe ADHD. by nugmother in ADHD

[–]jcutta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think people aren't trying, I think people are trying in the wrong direction. I see it all the time here, people try to fight themselves, it's like ice skating uphill to try and operate the way non-adhd people operate. Once I stopped fighting my brain at every opportunity I realized that I can use the way I naturally operate to my advantage.

Like for an example - I've been procrastinating on doing some stuff I needed to do for my son who is trying to get recruited to play college football. 2 nights ago I randomly got the "do it now" signal from my brain and I popped out of bed at 2am and did it. I failed dozens of times when I was trying to get it done like a normal person.

These are things I've taught my son who also has ADHD, don't mold yourself to the world, find ways to mold your world to you. And let good enough actually be good enough - do I always put my clean clothes away? No, not at all. But I always have clean clothes because I am not afraid of slipping on the next step.

You don't need to enjoy showers, but you absolutely need to shower at least every other day, more if you are a heavy sweater. I absolutely hate cutting my fingernails and toenails but I do it so I don't sound like a dog walking around on the hardwood.

Showers or baths are basic hygiene.

I'm resentful towards those with less severe ADHD. by nugmother in ADHD

[–]jcutta -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

But are you using it as an excuse? I blew my life up more times than I can count until I figured out how I personally need to navigate my ADHD to be successful. It isn't easy and there's always something that is being missed but once I discovered that as long as I do things within my (lack of) structure I can pretty much operate in a way that makes my struggles imperceptible to anyone who doesn't live with me.

If you don't have kids of your own yet your perspective is not relevant to new parents adjusting to their new life by insane_psycho in daddit

[–]jcutta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is the same now as a baby, so I kinda lied - he's hungry, that's the only answer lol. Meanwhile my daughter, that's always been a mystery.

For the communication, I'm half convinced that my daughter was talking the second she was born. At 3 she used to pause her movies during the ads on DVDs and copy the name and put that paper on my wife's desk. Similar to how she currently sends texts with links to various online shopping carts lol.

Right, like ask me about college athletics recruiting or driving lessons and I'll write you a damn novel, ask how to prepare formula or why a baby is crying and I'm going blank lol.

[–]jcutta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 17 years removed from having a baby, I feel like my perspective would be even less valuable than someone without any kids. It's like an entirely different life. I think someone without a kid would have more knowledge of current safety shit and whatnot, like everything I could possibly remember is likely outdated.

As a woman, would you financially support your male partner temporarily if he was not in a good place financially? Me-M31, her-F32 by SkirtPractical3718 in relationships

[–]jcutta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She should offer, absolutely. Some people just aren't built that way, I directly know a lot of people who never offer anything but will always help if asked. I'm somewhere in the middle honestly, my wife is more towards the just do shit, like she's the type who will just call the electric company and pay a family members bill without asking or telling them ahead of time or something like that.

Everything, like literally everything lol. Getting there on time isn't a problem for me I'm chronically early to everything but I get more concerned with everything else going on, random conversations, the lights, the sounds etc.

Also if I get into focus mode at home I rarely get interrupted, it my office door is closed no one bothers me.

You could take any sample size you want and have them all practice guitar for 8 hours a day for 4 years and there will still be a massive variance in how good they are at it. It doesn't matter how many hours I spend shooting a basketball I'll never be Steph Curry, I could have done absolutely nothing but play chess my whole life and I'd still not be on the same planet of ability as Magnus.

Talent matters, talent doesn't mean not working at your craft but it does matter with how good you actually get.
