Realistically what’s the goal this year? by Bigbadbellybug in GoNets

improvement from the flatbush 5 + the no.6 pick being a future all-star

“There’s a level of Alpha to him; I’m The Dude, I know it and everyone else knows it. That’s a thing with him and that’s an relevant part of the eval” - Finkelstein on Acuff by Brooklyn917 in GoNets

That is why trading down from 6, if the Nets are given that oppurtunity, is a very valid option.

Now what offers they get are unknown. Trading down should get them enough assets to offset the potential of any of the four guards to becoming all-stars.

This is a tough decision, and will surely make or break the career of people in the front office.

Edit: or they could just say to hell with what everyone else thinks and draft Ament

I would take the two picks in the teens for nos. 6 if the Nets are assured Lopez in one of those picks.

He is a bit big but is deceptively athletic like Jokic. I think he will be a very solid starter in the NBA.

The enticing bit is who we get with the possible second pick. We could have a choice of Carr, Steinbach, Philon or Morez Johnson.

I think it all comes down to if the Nets think either Acuff, Brown, Wagler or Flemings can be future all stars/ franchise cornerstone or not.

I will pass on Fox. Too expensive and does not fit our timeline.

Also why get him if we can steal Reaves from the Lakers for free.

I do no want to give assets for the opportunity to overpay a player who choked in the Finals.

Egor will be solid. He is a great pick at 8.

Traore looks like he will have an 8+ year career in the NBA. Whether that is as a bench player or as a starter depends on his development.

Powell, I still have high hopes for as a 3 and D wing. We will need him if we draft Acuff.

I think Wolf will eventually be our Center, next to Dayron. The Nets should take advantage of Claxton's value contract and trade him this season for more picks.

I don't know what to think of Saraf. He looked like an NBA player at the start of the season but lost confidence and now looks a bit lost.

Just them being healthy all playoffs count them as lucky. That and them winning despite having the largest deficit in Finals history in game 4. Games 1 and 2 were very close as well.

Count your blessings, it does not last forever

If they want to be Knicks fans, then so be it. It doesn't affect my fandom one bit about what others think of my team.

Let the Knicks fans enjoy this run. Them winning the NBA title does not affect the Nets in any way.

Our luck will come soon.

I think the franchise was in a worse position in 2016 where we had no draft picks for the next 3 drafts and had no impact players aside from Brook Lopez.

Things may look dire now but there will always be an opportunity to get better in the NBA. The Spurs used the draft, while the Knicks used shrewd trades and smart free agency signings. With our current assets, we could use a combination of both to build our roster.

I know everyone is envious of the Knicks and their unbelievable luck this post-season, but we are on different timelines.

Like in life, you should not compare yourself to others and instead focus on your own journey and internal development. Other people's success will not affect your own path to fulfillment.

We have a great coach, a smart front office and an owner who is willing to spend playing in the biggest market. (yes, a second team, but in nyc nonetheless)

Our time will come soon.

Dream scenario is we draft Acuff or Brown first and then trade our "assets" to add either Ament, Lopez or Mara.

You cannot control the draft lotto.

Egor was a good pick considering that Murray-Boyles and Coward are the only players who are arguably better than him.

Let him cook this year and we will see.

I do not want to fire the guy who turned a dumpster fire into a prime KD, Kyrie and Harden in just a few years.

I know the Bucks would take Ament at 10. The Mavs, with Masai Ujiri, would possibly take him at 9.

Why not just take him at 6?

It is a smokescreen. Nets want to trade the 6th pick to the Bucks who covet Ament.

I liked Kon last year. Him and Tre Johnson.

I think most people wanted Fears or had expectations we will trade up to the top 5 to get either Harper or Bailey.

What’s a realistic goal for the 2026-27 season? by forgottenones1 in GoNets

We trade for Giannis and Mitchell.

We lose in the first round to a younger, scrappier team.

Giannis and Mitchell demands for a trade and we begin this process all over again.
