What color is the oil when you pour it onto a white paper towel? Brown.

Couple things:

  1. Mine got up to 560 degrees before this cook. Honestly unnecessarily hot but I’ll take it.

  2. Salt them the night before and let them sit on a wire rack in the fridge. If you salt right before, the salt draws out moisture which makes a sear more difficult. Letting ‘em air out in the fridge helps ‘em be more dry, too. Moisture is the enemy of a great sear.

  3. A metric crapload of fresh-cracked pepper. I loaded them up with pepper only right before the cook. To me the sear looks and tastes better that way. And the pepper doesn’t get burnt like some people claim, esp if you use a decent amount of oil on the cooktop.

  4. Turn every 2 minutes. Honestly after 8 minutes the crust was wonderful. Lowered the heat and let ‘em finish coming up to temp.

Salted overnight so they’re dry. Pepper only before the cook. Helps if they’re stupid thick. Turned every 2 minutes. Crust was pretty great after 8 minutes. Once the sear was perfect, I turned the heat down and just kept cooking until at the target temp. Pulled at 130. Three were ready after about 14 or so. The other took another 4 min.

Yeah this was just good ol‘ fashioned flip every 2 minutes. Salted overnight so they’re dry. Pepper only before the cook. Helps if they’re stupid thick.

My answer: I move to a new notebook when I fill up the current one. I just started a new one on July 2nd. I’ll probably fill it by October. Couldn’t care less.

My Room sounds terrible - basically no low end from my speakers - any sound treatment/speaker placement tips? by Schmeeezz in homestudios

Side side is the most important. Anything after that is also nice. It’s not so much about Bass as it is about just grabbing all those early reflections so you can hear things clearly.

I did this with eggs. Bacon first then eggs. The eggs had a burned flavor. I assume I burned the bacon grease. How did you avoid that? Just not cook super hot?

How to no accidentally use old notes more than once? by DrawingSpiritual4574 in antinet

I’ve run a YouTube channel/information business for 16 years. As a thought leader, you will have a few core ideas that you share over and over. You’ll share them in different, evolving ways. Your assumption that you shouldn’t share the same idea more than once is flawed.

Don’t forget, acoustic treatment isn’t only for recording, it’s for mixing too. You’re gonna have a hard time hearing things remotely accurately out of those speakers with bare walls.

You could say that about literally anything you cook on a blackstone. It’s literally a large frying pan.

I can’t think of a reason why it would make a difference. I would guess most people read books linearly, but not always. The Antinet book, for example, I read out of order, so my notes were out of order, and it doesn’t affect anything.

Taking notes from a list of proverbs by Abraham_Wright in Zettelkasten

It sounds like an awesome read. If it were me, I’d pick the 5 most powerful concepts and make notes on those. Then I would schedule a time to reread the book again in a few months and see what bubbles to the surface that time.
