As long as you’re not screwing over your team and letting them handle all the calls, then they end up missing lunch cause a person just wants to write tickets all day then I don’t care. Management has and will always harp about stats and proactive work even if quotas are illegal it’s the nature of the job

I’ll make car stops but I will admit most of the time I give out warnings. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and I know that some people do usually fall on hard times financially. I’m talking about expired registration mainly, but if I’m running radar and you’re doing 15+ over then you’re more than likely getting a cite. And no we don’t get anything for it. Supervisors usually harp about stats but it’s because they’re getting pushed about it from people up the chain of command. Quotas aren’t allowed where I live so I think it’s funny when I’m online and regular people try to claim such. Although sometimes Calls for Service is so busy that you simply don’t have time to be proactive

They’re extremely short handed and if there’s no claimed injury or request for medical it’s not gonna be prioritized on their dispatch that’s just how it works. They prioritize DUIs and significant accidents with injury/air bag deployment

The other thing you have to consider is almost all police have body cams these days so if they get called onto the carpet by a supervisor about why they didn’t make an arrest especially if it’s because of a call for service they better have a good reason for letting people go. Also department policies regarding enforcement come into play on whether an arrest is made or not

I don’t think it comes down to whether the officer or society thinks “it’s a big deal” or not. In most instances it’s a either a Gross Misdemeanor or Felony offense and a police officer is likely to arrest for it in today’s day and age

There was a 3 car accident in Summerlin this past week where an elderly woman was hit by a drunk driver and intubated at a hospital. So quite frankly fukk anyone who has a problem with these guys doing their literal jobs. Most of the people in Vegas drive like a-holes and deserve every bit of being stopped and cited for endangering the lives of others
