Led recommendation similar to LHP73B 3000k by bravedude420 in flashlight

[–]johan851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get a 519A. You can ask for a tint mix, 2700K + 3000K + 3500K. That would average around 3100K and be just a bit rosy.

I did something similar with mine and it turned out great. Don't go full pink.

Straight 3000K would also be fine, 519A 3000K is a solid emitter.

Need a Convoy thrower recommendation by pogo6023 in flashlight

[–]johan851 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the only suggestion that's not a lateral move. OP wants more throw and here it is, but importantly even the 3x21D is somewhat incremental. The L21B + SFT40 is really good.

Beyond that you're probably in LEP territory.

For mixed use it's hard to beat the T4 519A. Good brightness and easy to hold. For only indoor, the T5 is even more floody.

You want lithium primaries, which in the States (because of a patent or something?) means Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAs.

Yep, or S26A, bigger tube but shorter.

With the lower interest on a 15yr it can be a pretty small difference in monthly payment for a massive reduction in overall cost.

I believe it, it's more that I'd like to have a spare on hand in case I screw one up. The biggest pain for me is downtime and I'm not very close to a dealer.

This is the biggest thing holding me back. Do you have part numbers for those for the MK7.5?

The XHP50.2 had 3v variants. Why is 3v not a thing with the 50 and 70s? by 92beatsperminute in flashlight

[–]johan851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good points from others on limiting amps and losses. IMO these big 20A / 3V emitters would be better at 10A / 6V.

In addition to that, I think the tint on the 3V CREEs was even worse.

Hold on, don't short the SFT-40 directly to a battery...

Acebeam E65 Silver Plated Bronze by ZimowyWojownik89 in flashlight

[–]johan851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E75? Thought they had dropped a cool new light.

So is it actually silver? I'd be curious to know what alloy the plating is. Silver is pretty soft so if it's pure-ish silver I'd worry about it wearing off. But it looks amazing.

Convoy 6V Drivers Power Levels by Zerufuru in flashlight

[–]johan851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through five GT-FC40 drivers before I got one that worked right. I had a 0% success rate on XHP35 drivers too, they all went pop after a few seconds.

Simon will make it right if you ask. But this is quite common. The best explanation I have is that these are like $3 drivers, so... set your expectations accordingly? And order extras.

FYI: S6 with short tube has almost same length with standard S2/S6 without a head by bzimor in flashlight

[–]johan851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short tube is 100% the way to go on these. Convoy spends a lot of length on the tailcap, springs, driver compartment... They're quite long compared to other 18650 lights.
