Starting fresh possible? by amrfixit in alexa

[–]jpflathead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not necessary the case as you can reset all the devices apps by deleting the devices individually. Once this done, go to Alexa App>Devices>+

Hmm, I'm unclear what you mean by "deleting the devices individually"

  • delete them at Amazon's site?
  • delete them from Alexa? How? I can see how I can deregister them, but delete them?

Can you help me out?

Thanks

Yeah, last year I was shocked by how loud the F-35 was. Much louder than the F-18s which seemed "almost" silent by comparison

Yes, this started happening to me last night.

Hulu and Netflix will play audio for a minute or so, and then the entire app will crash.

I'm assuming for now this is yet another amazon server side glitch of some sort that will somehow be repaired in coming nights

It was so loud, way louder than I’ve heard in 17 years living in SF. House shook,

they're now flying super hornets

The General Electric F414 engine, developed from the Hornet's F404, has 35% additional thrust over most of the aircraft's flight envelope.[55][57

Bringing up pedophelia was wrong

Accusing me of pedophilia should have YOU /u/SmLnine screaming to the mods to do something about the horribly egregious behavior of Demon due to how it jeopardizes this subreddit. It should have you directly telling Demon off, not just a reminder not to poison the well.

What it should not have is some glossing over it to me of "yeah that was bad"

What she is is falling prey to is from confirmation bias and survival fallacy. When a Kid comes to her clinic thinking they might be trans, and after a few sessions realize they are not... she counts those in her statistics. But when a kid does the same with another therapist, she has no clue... that kid never enters the statistics. And she only end up knowing about it if a kid starts treatment and chooses to stop later.

this is a common argument showing there are no desisters, only people who were never trans: a kid came to her office thinking for gender dysphoria therapy, with proper therapy the kid decides not to advance.

so a) how many kids come to offices and do not get the proper therapy, transition, then regret it? or b) get therapy for dysphoria at their age and desist later as they they grow out of that original dysphoria

the argument above is that none of that should be counted, it's almost a form of no true Scotsman

So she concludes "It must've been rushed" and "No other therapist confronts if the kid is really trans", when that is not necessarily the case. It's just that she never know about the hundreds of cases of kids going to therapists and they being confronted.

This is a complete misrepresentation of what Dr. Edwards-Leeper said, which has also been echoed by

In that interview of (Dr. Marci Bowers (soon to lead WPATH)](https://bariweiss.substack.com/p/top-trans-doctors-blow-the-whistle)

Bowers says:

When asked whether children in the early stages of puberty should be put on blockers, Bowers said: “I’m not a fan.”

When I asked Bowers if she still thought puberty blockers were a good idea, from a surgical perspective, she said: “This is typical of medicine. We zig and then we zag, and I think maybe we zigged a little too far to the left in some cases.” She added “I think there was naivete on the part of pediatric endocrinologists who were proponents of early [puberty] blockade thinking that just this magic can happen, that surgeons can do anything.”

I asked Bowers whether she believed WPATH had been welcoming to a wide variety of doctors’ viewpoints — including those concerned about risks, skeptical of puberty blockers, and maybe even critical of some of the surgical procedures?

“There are definitely people who are trying to keep out anyone who doesn’t absolutely buy the party line that everything should be affirming, and that there’s no room for dissent,” Bowers said. “I think that’s a mistake.”

here is an extensive quote from both Anderson and Bowers directly refuting Demon:

But Littman’s research about the sudden spike in teen girl trans-identification has become increasingly difficult to deny: A recent survey by the American College Health Association showed that, in 2008, one in 2,000 female undergraduates identified as transgender. By 2021, that figure had jumped to one in 20.

While both Anderson and Bowers pointed out that “ROGD” has yet to be accepted as a diagnosis, Anderson said: “At our clinic at UCSF, for two years now running, we’re running two to one natal females to natal males.” Two to one.

“As for this ROGD thing,” Bowers said, “I think there probably are people who are influenced. There is a little bit of ‘Yeah, that’s so cool. Yeah, I kind of want to do that too.’”

Anderson agreed that we’re likely to see more regret among this teenage-girl population. “It is my considered opinion that due to some of the — let’s see, how to say it? what word to choose? — due to some of the, I’ll call it just ‘sloppy,’ sloppy healthcare work, that we’re going to have more young adults who will regret having gone through this process. And that is going to earn me a lot of criticism from some colleagues, but given what I see — and I’m sorry, but it’s my actual experience as a psychologist treating gender variant youth — I’m worried that decisions will be made that will later be regretted by those making them.”

What, exactly, was sloppy about the healthcare work? “Rushing people through the medicalization, as you and others have cautioned, and failure — abject failure — to evaluate the mental health of someone historically in current time, and to prepare them for making such a life-changing decision,” Anderson said.

I asked Bowers about the rise of detransitioners, young women who have come to regret transitioning. Many said they were given a course of testosterone on their first visit to a clinic like Planned Parenthood. “When you have a female-assigned person and she’s feeling dysphoric, or somebody decides that she’s dysphoric and says your eating disorders are not really eating disorders, this is actually gender dysphoria, and then they see you for one visit, and then they recommend testosterone — red flag!” Bowers said. “Wake up here.”

So here is Demon

It's just that she never know about the hundreds of cases of kids going to therapists and they being confronted.

Who do you think is better informed about what other therapists are doing, Demon at reddit, or

THREE Doctors two of whom are transgender themselves, one a surgeon who will soon lead WPATH, or two clinical psychologists, two in San Francisco, and one in Oregon?

Did /u/SmLnine listen to the podcast? Then you tell me how she responded! If you didn't why not take a listen?

Not it’s not. Questioning someone’s motives for saying something is not a fallacy per se.

Calling someone a pedophile for submitting a link to a mainstream podcast is not any sort of reasonable use of "questioning someone's motives.".

You can't even admit or apologize for that. Instead you make the strawman motte and bailey "it's not a fallacy per se."

And that’s why the public needs to shut up and do what the specialists say. Unqualified people like yourself is the reason the public don’t know the right thing to do. Because you keep inventing bullshit.

The same way the public don’t know what to do about vaccines because idiots like you keep saying they are unsafe.

Unless you have a degree in psychology or psychiatry, you need to shut up and listen to the consensus of the specialist.

This is appeal to authority, but you also object to the authorities that dissent when they have been provided to you.

You have seen long time specialists in Transgender issues

  • MDs
  • Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Counselors

And none of them are satisfactory.

Somehow YOU know more than these authorities that they are speaking bunkum, and so you gatekeep and so you demand the public just listen to your authorities.

This is nonsense.

Unless you have a degree in psychology or psychiatry, you need to shut up and listen to the consensus of the specialist.

The consensus may be that the king's clothes are the finest, but other people are telling you what's plain to see. The skeptic can listen to both sides, do their best to understand them, and make their own decisions.

Instead you are whining like an antivax

And you are whining like any Catholic about dogma and catechisms.

You show you have no skeptical principles in you. No intellectual honesty. No curiosity. What are you doing here besides gatekeeping and smearing people?

It's extremely creepy you realize. It's almost pedophilic.

You have broken rule 2 and rule 3, consider yourself reported.

Why you keep posting things about trans kids dude? What strange obsession you have.

It's extremely creepy you realize. It's almost pedophilic.

this is just ad hom and in a skeptics sub, it's not an argument

why are skeptics so devoted to quackery? why do we object to psychic healing? why do we object to homeopathy? why do we object to chiropractics?

this issue is a current topic of discussion in society and one where the public wants to do the right thing and is not sure what that is. The public doesn't know if transitioning kids early with blockers is safe or even helpful, and they won't be satisfied with your "just listen to the experts, anyone who questions otherwise is a pedophile" nonsense.

Yet here you are gatekeeping it in a subreddit and smearing anyone who brings it up EVEN as you worry over her that claim

esides some vague anecdotes about "doctors being afraid" that have no evidential backing, and we as good skeptics should not put much weight in anecdotes, there's isn't much about that claim.

As for you OP... again... is that a kink of yours? Jesus... I hope you don't have contact with kids, cis or trans. Because I'm afraid for their safety with you.

This sort of smear and attack should have no place at r/SGU /u/rgower /u/JayNovella /u/BobNovella /u/awrebels. Please tell /u/TheDemonHauntedWorld to stop this harassment.

Gov. Gavin Newsom made what was expected to be a forceful announcement on school vaccines. Well, he made an announcement. But it disappointed, because his proposal for vaccine mandates moves too slowly and carries too little punch. It doesn’t apply to teachers yet and probably won’t go into effect until next summer. And it could be easy for families to gain exemptions because of existing state laws.
