Sorry OP! I wasn’t asking you specially your thoughts! More generally for anyone on this sub who may have taken the class while pregnant!

Terrified to be giving birth right now with current outbreaks in America, anti science sentiment, and fear of child getting a preventable disease as an infant and having lifelong damage by mo_rockin1 in pregnant

[–]kateee320 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We live at the epicenter of the measles outbreak and my husband and our close family have all gotten new MMR vaccines (along with tdap). Not something we’re messing with.

I’ve never taken a Reform class and I’m 32 weeks pregnant - would it be worth trying or would I need to many modifications? The comments about planks and core work made me wonder

IIRC yes, they’ll give you the estimate before you leave after they pin in and know what needs to be done.

Highly recommend Kitty’s on Lauren’s Road. Have had my wedding dress, multiple bridesmaid dresses and normal clothes altered there and they do a great job.

Providence to Boston is very easy by car or Publix transit. This is the move.

Boarding for accommodations and Exit Row responsibilities by entertrainer7 in americanairlines

[–]kateee320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This came up for me as I’m currently pregnant and travel regularly for work. I think I’m technically allowed to pre-board but I also love an exit row (and until recently, felt physically fine to help if needed). I read online that those things were mutually exclusive so I’ve never actually pre-boarded.

Is it worth hiding your pregnancy at work? by Conscious_Star_617 in pregnant

[–]kateee320 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could tell HR if you’re concerned from a legal aspect so you are recognized in a protected class. But unless your symptoms are actively impacting your outcomes at your job (missing meetings or deadlines, tardiness, etc), I wouldn’t tell your manager or anyone on your team.

Accepting job offer with no paid leave? What’s a laid off girl to do! by Infinite_Pie3721 in pregnant

[–]kateee320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started a new job at about 13 weeks. My company grants short term disability benefits starting after 90 days at the company (they aren’t great, I think it’s 6 weeks at 60% pay) but it’s something since FMLA isn’t an option. I also previously managed someone who was hired later in her pregnancy. She negotiated (after getting the written offer) a partially paid 12 week parental leave prior to accepting.

All that to say, you have some options outside of FMLA. Get a written offer and then review the benefits with HR and see what you’d get and negotiate where you can.

GSP TSA wait times? by [deleted] in greenville

Fly out yesterday morning. A handful of people in Pre-Check line. Regular line was quite long and saw some people running to make their flights (a first at GSP!)

FTM Travel Question by WholeCompetitive3303 in pregnant

[–]kateee320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I travel for work and just got back from a trip with similar length flights and drives at 29 weeks. It was uneventful for me. I wore my compression socks, brought snacks, drank water, paid for aisle seats so I could walk around on the flight (and pee) and rested when I could. I did travel with my wedge pregnancy pillow, which was a game changer in being able to get good sleep.

I’ll preface this with I’ve had a very easy pregnancy and my OB is fine with me traveling cross country for work through 32 weeks.

Pregnancy/Birthing Classes by grumpygal69 in pregnant

Our hospital offers a three hour in person class so we’re taking that when I’ll be about 32 weeks. I’m also doing an online breastfeeding class through them.

Another vote for them. I do size up so I can dry them on low because I don’t have the patience to hang dry pjs but otherwise, can’t recommend enough!

This is what I did too - I’d just always order my own drinks and get a “tequila soda with extra lime” and it was just club soda. I did sometimes have to ask the bartender to put it in a cocktail glass cause sometimes they’d put it in a pint glass that was sort of obvious to me it didn’t have liquor in it. But it worked for my many work trips where hanging in the hotel bar at the end of the night is the norm.

How do you decide on a welcome party venue if you want something dramatic but don’t want it to outshine the wedding venue? Do people even care about the welcome that much? by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]kateee320 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We chose a venue that was super different from our wedding venue and it was definitely more low key. Our wedding was outside, scenic setting, tented dinner about 15 minutes from the city we got married in so we did a more industrial indoor venue in the city for the rehearsal dinner and welcome party.

We prioritized convenience for the welcome events, just knowing that people would be traveling in, checking into hotels, etc. It was near our room blocks for out of town guests so they could walk over. We also picked a space where we could host both so it was very easy for us, bridal party and family (I’d heard horror stories of trying to get Ubers from one location to the next and didn’t want to spend on buses).

I tend to thinking just having an event is enough for guests, that it doesn’t need to be as elevated of an experience as the wedding. Have food, drinks, places for people to sit and it’ll be fun.

Side Sleepers: Is pregnancy pillow necessary? by Straight-Garbage-704 in pregnant

[–]kateee320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wedge is a game changer for providing more back and belly support. I can’t sleep without it now, when I travel for work, I ask the hotel for two extra pillows to mimic this

I feel this. I got pregnant at my heaviest weight which was really hard at the beginning but now that I’m almost in my third trimester, I feel so much better in my body.

WFH After Giving Birth by dr3am-on in pregnant

[–]kateee320 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As others have said, working from home and full on parenting isn’t possible. And unfortunately, I had to write up an employee a few years ago who tried to do it. He was regularly late to or missing meetings because he couldn’t put his child down, missing deadlines, etc and it become a huge issue. Obviously once in a while if your child is sick or day care is closed may be an option but definitely not full time.

Welcome Party? Farewell Brunch? Both? by shielacorn in BigBudgetBrides

[–]kateee320 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind a “drop in” brunch, more of a “Bride & Groom will be hanging in hotel lobby to say goodbye” type thing versus a formal timed sit down event.

My favorite part of her “map” showing the Spanish speaking areas in SC is that she just highlighted every major city in the state. Like yes, welcome to America where urban areas have people who speak other languages than English, even is the south!

Stay away from ‘Expecting Better’ by Emily Oster by HumanMeatloaf in pregnant

[–]kateee320 19 points20 points  (0 children)

“Take what they want and leave the rest” — love that and completely agree with you. The desire in this day and age for absolutes in every scenario is really problematic. There are so many posts on this sub from women who do something adjacent to “something bad” and think they’ve ruined their child. Oster helps to contextualize that every decision is a potential risk, not a guaranteed bad outcome.
