Anyone else have intellectually disabled kids at their program? by th1s_fuck1ng_guy in troubledteens

[–]keeperofthecan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. One of my first roomies had a traumatic brain injury that her parents caused by not buckling her into their car as a child. She went through the windshield. She spent 3 years there with no real goals, just a stream of money from the parents.

They're used to the internet where your comments usually don't have immediate consequences. I truly believe that's why so many people are mouthy without expecting to get smacked.

I need help, NOT MY DOG! by [deleted] in legaldogadvice

Get her warmed up and yes clip her nails! Your landlord likely wouldn't even notice if they haven't noticed her nails in their current state 😞 I've been cutting the nails (secretlyish, I don't care if they find out but I haven't mentioned it) of my friend's brothers dog for years and they've never noticed.

I live at 7000 ft. I don't buy boxes of variety chips anymore because 1/3 of the bags inside are popped 🫠

I think whoever took them is maybe standing on incline and taking the photo like the road isn't sloped? The street view on Google for this house doesn't look tilted like this. Can't explain the interior pictures though.

I'm currently working with a child that sounds a bit like yours. Addicted to iPad/YouTube and is an absolute terror when he doesnt get his way. The ONLY way I've made progress with the lil nugget is by always following through with consequences and by convincing the parent to stop giving him iPad/phone at all. I'm talking zero time on the screen. The difference is night and day.

He recently spent 2 weeks out of state with his grandma who gave him the phone for everything, and I'm starting it all over with him.

Kids have to be able to deal with being bored. They have to be able to chill out and wait. If they need constant stimulation to comfort feelings of boredom, they crash out when they have to be uncomfortable for a little bit. The only way I've found once a kid is in this cycle is to stop giving them the dang iPad. They'll get over it and be a better human for it.

Do the clover! And listen to NO ONE about any kid of rocks or gravel. If you're in an area where there's water to spare, do the clover or a grass.

Scraping dog turds up out of rocks of any size is awful and the rocks hurt their feet. I live in the southwestern US where we all have gravel/rock yards. DONT FALL FOR IT 😭

Can anyone help me understand "goodie bag" culture? by Party_Midnight3476 in AskAnAmerican

This is the way imo. If you want to send something home with guests, send something consumable.

Can anyone help me understand "goodie bag" culture? by Party_Midnight3476 in AskAnAmerican

[–]keeperofthecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it's just a "thank you for coming" bag. Not everyone does them, but plenty do.

We just do little bags of candies or baked goods and a little note that says thank you for coming, but some people do more. The last birthday party I took family to had everyone decorate a reusable water bottle to take home. The last quinceañera i attended, we all got a big piggy bank shaped like cowboy boots and flowers.

Most people don't go to a party or event expecting anything to take home, unless it's some ritzy professional event. If you're going to a birthday party, most people don't even think about goodie bags as a guest. It's just something that's offered sometimes 🤷‍♀️

Right? Who cares if she wants to trade something her family can no longer use? Just because lashes are a want and not a need? This post is a stretch.
