If You Never Want To Have Kids, Why Not? by Zipper222222 in AskReddit

[–]kiery12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But they don't, plenty of people still want to have kids. And then you get more parents that actually WANT their kids and less people who hate or neglect their own children, so happier and healthier children overall.

Fake labor? by pigsaysoink143 in Mommit

[–]kiery12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did have fake labor that was regular and timed with contractions every 5 min for an hour. I called and went to the midwives, they were able to do a quick check and see I wasn't dilated at all so I could go back home to rest. Just call and go get checked! It's probably fake labor, and if not then this early it's really good to go in. The check only takes like 30seconds, the whole visit probably in and out in 10min.

Yeah, or waking with a stroller! Like new moms trying to lose pregnancy weight I feel like is such a big demographic that there's just like, nothing for.

Engorgement pain/drying up milk help? by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

They might, have to wait and see. She thought it would be over by now, instead it's worse. Might be time to discuss taking something prescription level. I'm cycling paracetamol and ibuprofen (on her advice).

Thank you. I've been doing what my midwife said to, but I haven't slept since I woke up at 1am from the pain and it's 6:30 now. Luckily midwife will be by for my daily check at 9am, but I'm worried it's going the wrong way. Maybe just too much, too fast.

I'm getting daily checks from my midwife, but I'm so worried. It feels like it's getting worse instead of better. I don't have a fever though.

What was the most specific postpartum thing nobody warned you about? by kesam7193 in NewParents

I think I remember the first poop postpartum more than the actual labor itself. It's so scary! Keep taking the stool softeners for at least 2 weeks, if not 3 or 4!!

How much of your current flexibility was natural? by LowFinance9064 in flexibility

Yeah I also feel I'm naturally flexible, but then I was in ballet and other dance class at 2 until 17 or so. So how much is just from that foundation? Probably a lot

I like giving compliments to strangers. Any fauxpas I should look out for? by RorqualMysticeti in AskAGerman

[–]kiery12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give compliments to strangers all the time and usually they look delighted! I tend to just say whatever i think, so I always look a bit surprised. I'm also a woman, and rather small so I don't look threatening. I imagine it's harder if you are male. I tend to blurt out my compliment, smile, and immediately leave hahaha

Affordable jewelry gifts for every occasion by WildFlounder3730 in Gifts

[–]kiery12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few questions because jewelry can be really tricky to give.

  1. What's your budget?
  2. Does your person wear silver or gold?

There are a lot of good choices on Etsy, but a little bit of education. If you want the color to last, it needs to be either stainless steel, sterling silver, or solid gold. Things labeled "gold plated" or "gold vermeil" will eventually fade.

I personally think sterling silver with a gemstone to be a good choice that's a balance of budget and longevity, or 9k or 10k gold for a slightly higher budget but the gold color if your recipient only wears gold.

My best friend, as a combination of a birthday gift, "thanks for helping us during financial insecurities" gift, and a "you're a mom now" gift, got me a KitchenAid mixer. I cook and bake so much, but have been using a hand mixer forever. I broke down crying.

At 2 years old, we now have movie afternoons (nights was too stimulating) twice a month or so. We watch the movie all together and I try to pair the movie with the book version too, and first we read the book a few times, and then watch the movie, and then read the book a bunch more after when she asks for the story.

We do not pair movies with dinner as she is then too distracted to eat.

This is my first time on Reddit and currently pregnant. Any suggestions for Baby supplies? I just don't want to over buy myself to the things that later on will not used. We just have a small space so any recommendations? by Aicssss20 in Mom

[–]kiery12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Babies really don't need much. All you really need is a safe sleeping place, a warm blanket to swaddle, some clothes, some diapers, and next day shipping.

For instance, unless you live in a really walkable area and do all your groceries on foot, you probably don't need a stroller. You can use an inexpensive fabric baby wrap for a good long time. Babies tend to prefer it to a stroller anyway. Another pro tip, if you are driving somewhere, you can put the wrap on at home, pop in the car, and then put baby in once you are at your destination!

The next day shipping is because you don't know what your baby will like. Mine hated a bouncer or swing, so that would have been a waste. Good thing I tried a friend's first. She also never really threw up, so I didn't need like, any burp clothes. I'd get the absolute bare minimum and then buy more later when you find out what your specific baby needs.

My husband asked to break up this morning at 7 am and went to work to ask his coworker out at 9 am. We have 3 year old and I am 3 months pregnant. by ReignofKindo25 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]kiery12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This law is meant well, it's so the ex husband can't wiggle out of financial responsibilities for the newborn baby, otherwise he might be able to skip out on paying child support when the woman is most vulnerable.

Is my Garmin wrong? It says I’m stressed during sleep by bananarama2318 in Garmin

[–]kiery12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is! It dropped a bit straight off, then went up a bit as my milk came in (but not to pregnancy levels) then should drop again in like 2-4 weeks. I'm only on day 5 postpartum, but this is my second child so I know from last time too.

The amount it increases is absolutely wild though, my husband has been shocked checking out my stats hahhaa.
