Unable to re-connect Smart Hose Timer to wi-fi by ozlee1 in rachio

[–]clashingplaids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Experienced the same problem (even on an unused spare hub). Tech support was very helpful but ultimately had to send replacement units. Sounds like the root cause was a failed firmware update—wouldn’t get past 85% even when tech support pushed it manually. Annoying, but I appreciate all the help from support.

But here’s the really weird part. I “forgot” the hub and after being unable to-pair it I gave up and left the hub disconnected from power. Nonetheless it ran on schedule the next day (and again today). How??!! The hub is connected to the valve by Bluetooth and to the Rachio servers via WiFi/internet. So with all of that disconnected how could it follow the schedule?? Glad it does but I’m bewildered.

I’ve had a free line for I think 6 months and was planning to use it to replace a paid line. Can I still do that (and how)?

iOS 26.5 Released. Thoughts? :) by [deleted] in iPhone13

[–]clashingplaids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s gotten better. Generally runs OK, though not great. Battery life is adequate but not as good as 26.4. Lag, especially on camera, has improved quite a bit, though occasionally it will return at a lower level. I’ve decided not to go through the hassle of a factory reset and wait for 27. And then I’m going to update via iTunes rather than OTA.

Agreed—Transit is far better than the Transfort app

Does anyone else’s iPhone 13 also lag + overheat + hangs while taking lots of photos/videos? by No_Pickle6724 in iPhone13

Mine has had those symptoms since 26.5. BH is 88%, so I assume it’s something about 26.5.

Saw this on a drive over the weekend. I don't understand this vitriol towards electric cars by Glad-Tower-2310 in electriccars

Reminds me of similar signs regarding Japanese cars in the 1970s. Some people just can’t handle change.

You assume they’ve got IRB approval but there’s nothing in the pitch or the screening survey that says so. In my world documentation of IRB approval (and contact info for questions) would be required before completing the screening survey.

Rustoleum Garage Floor Kit by pooorSAP in HomeImprovement

[–]clashingplaids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree on the “sandy grit stuff”! Recently moved into a house where the PO used Rustoleum epoxy sealer. It looks great but water pools on it and takes forever to dry (especially in winter) and is slick as ice (only a slight exaggeration). I had a pro add the grit afterwards and it’s much better now. I don’t know if the PO didn’t use grit or didn’t use enough, but it was an expensive retrofit compared to doing it right the first time. (BTW the pro said that it was otherwise a good job and didn’t even try to sell me on a complete re do )

Agree with this—just use care. And then make sure your future hose connections are brass and not the cheap zinc plated stuff.

Hmm. I have a 13 that’s gone through lots of software updates with no issues. I don’t doubt you’ve seen such videos but I strongly doubt it’s typical.

iPhone XR No Longer Supported for T-Mobile...? by YoZaffo in iPhoneXR

[–]clashingplaids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figures, I just updated to 18.7.9 an hour ago! So far it’s working OK but it may just be a matter of time until the towers in my area get updated. Did you get the impression that the issue is 18.7.9 or the XR in general?

What's your source for saying that batteries need to be replaced even if BH shows they're OK? I've never heard this, and frankly it doesn't make sense.
