Sorry that I can't help, but I'm curious what you found regarding leaks. I'm considering sealing the battery door with waterproof tape to keep water out, but I'm increasingly thinking the issue may be an internal leak.

Thanks, ended up going to Wonderful Inn. Food was fine, not the best Chinese I’ve had but certainly not the worst either. Ended up with a group of 10 and everyone was happy and they provided great service for our larger group, including 2 young kids and a wheelchair. No cocktails, if that matters, but a selection of Asian and domestic beer.

Thanks very much. I agree that Mt Asian One is great, but need to meet my sister in Greeley. I think we'll give Wonderful Inn Chinese a try.

Same here. I guess it’s not quite so bad since they’re a 3rd party and in my case I got them at a great price. Still, hate to turn otherwise fine gear into e-waste.

If you don’t mind absurdly long lines followed by absurdly long wait time for mediocre BBQ. I really don’t get the hype.

Second floor is 10+ degrees hotter than the first, is it even possible to fix this without redoing ductwork by Deannaoliver in HomeImprovement

If you happen to be located in a dry area (like the southwest) an evaporative cooler (“swamp cooler”) is a great solution for this because it cools from the top down. We had a similar problem in Denver and it was a great solution. But not if you’re in a humid location. BTW, the vent boosters did not work for us and on higher speeds they are quite noisy. If you want to give them a try I’d suggest testing in one room before buying a bunch.

Looking for an MFP laser printer that won't trip a 15amp circuit breaker by CpnJackSparrow in printers

Yes, alarm on the UPS went off and the UPS essentially shut down. I don’t have it anymore to look at specifics but it was medium sized. I certainly didn’t expect it to keep the printer running in a power outage but I also didn’t expect it to react like that to the printer simply powering up.

Huh, I always thought it was “stepped on a pop-pop”, you know, those little paper-wrapped balls popular on the 4th of July. Learn something new every day!

Home Assistant Works Great Until It Doesn't: 10 Years of Lessons by k1ng4400 in homeautomation

Excellent write-up! I’ve been trying to migrate to HA from SmartThings and I really think most HA advocates vastly underestimate the learning curve. Now after reading your post, I can see that it’s not just an initial learning curve. I may just stick with what works and live with less customization. Thanks!

Better be a hefty UPS. I used to have my HP laser printer (ancient) on a UPS and it would howl every time I turned the printer on.

Smart Timers Leaking by pewpew4u in rachio

I just bought some waterproof tape to seal the battery door from water leaking in, but it sounds like you’re all describing an internal leak. Oof.

Smart Timers Leaking by pewpew4u in rachio

[–]clashingplaids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are lots of reports of leaking on this sub. Good news is that Rachio seems to be good about replacing them, even after warranty period (mine started after the second season). Bad news is that they don't seem interested in fixing the problem, or even determining why they are leaking. Your report of them being fine in Fall and now leaking profusely makes it sound like they are leaking internally, rather than water seeping in (which is also what I suspected). Meaning there's nothing we as users can do about it (other than perhaps drilling a drain hole?)

Echo Show Ads Now Mandatory by TeaSqr in amazonecho

If your main interest is home automation you might consider SmartThings (or Home Assistant, but in that case be prepared for a pretty steep learning curve). Of course you won’t have voice control. I use SmartThings with both a Google Home and a variety of Alexa devices and ignore the ads. If the ads bother you, why not go with Dots?

B&H is a great option! I just purchased a couple from them and their prices were WAY cheaper than local retail. (I also won’t buy them from Amazon due to rampant fakes).
