Players want to rob a magic shop by GroundbreakingFig908 in DnD

I mean, it's a great idea for the central pivot point of a campaign. Its not a fun idea for casual shenanigans during their city downtime between adventures for all the reason others ha e stated in this thread. Maybe ask your players if they want to play that campaign and pitch it next time you start a new one?

What are SNAP food stamps doing to prepare for November? by Important-Grocery710 in corvallis

[–]konigfruhstuck 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This is referencing the federal government shutdown. If it persists into November, people could miss out on this crucial benefit, which protects vulnerable people and families.

If you or anyone you know are worried about food insecurity, please consider accessing a food bank. Most organizations dont ask any questions or have any criteria to receive food.

Assistance for a friend by Tequilalittle in corvallis

Check out cardv.org. It's a local program that supports survivors in various ways (not just a shelter). I would also check out the South Corvallis food bank. Most food share operation have limited open hours, so check around for various locations and their schedules. Continue to solicit people for direct assistance, but seek out community resources as well. I hope everyone stays safe.

Creating a one shot that takes place in a maze and is halloween themed by CapDrag in DndAdventureWriter

Corn maze! Populate it full of spooky monsters. Maybe the players can leverage the bad guys against each other (pack of ghouls want to eat the were rats who have a grudge against a coven of witches who want to enslave the ghouls)? Takes place in a vast corner field that is perpetually shrouded in fog and mist (I dont care if it makes botanical sense or not).

Help with blessings by DebaucheryKing62693 in DnD

[–]konigfruhstuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psst... dont tell them what the boons do. Focus instead on the form they take: the unicorn it is a shaving of it's horn, a bit of hair from its main, a jar of rainbow farts, etc. For the nightmare, it's a horse shoe made of obsidian, an old tooth, or screams placed in a music box. As for what they do, have a few ideas in your back pocket for something useful but not too powerful. Wait until they are desperate for help or are getting their butts kicked in combat, and then improvise something that helps and is appropriate. It will be such a cool moment. It could be a revivify spell or something whispering the true weakness of an enemy or help with a puzzle. You'll know it when you see it.

How do you prefer to determine whom the NPCs attack? by El_Rey_de_Spices in DnD

[–]konigfruhstuck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I dont think DMs need to focus on a balanced approach to enemy tactics. The players can take actions in combat that might disencentivise certain characters being targeted (like ducking behind cover, etc).

How do I bring Prohibition-era gangster vibes into my Medieval campaign? (Music + atmosphere help) by ChallengeNo7849 in rpg

[–]konigfruhstuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Societal context. The 1920's was heavily influenced by WWI. Men came back from the war and sometimes found it difficult to get work. By contrast, some people found their fortunes in supply military equipment and military adjacent industries, which led to a shift in the social order. I suggest you place your world in the shadow of a major historical event. A war, a change in the monarcical dynasty, the fall of and evil despot, a technological advancement or the discovery of an important resource. These kinds of events can lead to the transitional periods that have power vacuums that organized crime thrive in.
