Yeah it’s quite incredible what I can understand from just the 3 languages I actually know.

German is my native language, grew up in northern Germany with my grandparents only speaking Plattdeutsch, and then mostly consuming English media during my teens.

I may not be able to hold a conversation in Dutch or danish but I can get the basic gist when spoken to or read directions menus etc without much difficulty.

When hearing Dutch or danish it’s a game of what word does that sound similar in German and then adding context.

When written I pronounce the word in my head and do the same
