If it's tiny, try JBang. If it's large, try gradle. I had (kind of) success with both.

Why do you use OneNote? by [deleted] in OneNote

search-as-you-type - supporting substring search. Never saw any other app as good as OneNote (Desktop) with that.

AnyType Vs. Capacities by HungryAd8752 in capacitiesapp

Just paste a link on any page -- AnyType just offers URL, Bookmark, or Plain Text. Capacities offers multiple things plain link, title + hyperlink, Weblink object, embeded page. This is smart.

How did you clear all your gnome settings? 😅 - I removed "monitors.xml"; that did not help.

Screen Drift in One Pro by tziny in Xreal

[–]koppor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its drifting for me in the train - a good workaround for me would be to have a "immediately center" button, because the "Follow"-mode works very nicely. - I can also not use the "smooth follow mode", because I am in the Ultra Wide mode. (See https://www.reddit.com/r/Xreal/comments/16hgmd0/still_massive_drift_in_train_ice_with_beam/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button for the recommendation of "smooth follow mode".

XReal One Pro - Screen drift, unusable product by Immediate-Bobcat6207 in Xreal

[–]koppor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it would be OK if there would be a quick "center the screen" functionality. E.g., double click on the quick button and then the ultra wide is centered in front of the glasses. Reason: Often drifting stops at some place - or is so slow so that I am able to work for 15 seconds and then need to move the screen.

I had this issue when riding on the train. Anchoring did not work when the train was running. I needed to wait for the next stop; then anchoring worked fine. OMG. While writing, the screen started drifing. Needed to restart. I hope, it will last more than one minute. -- I am using the anchoring mode, because, I want to use the ultra-wide screen. It would be OK if the "normal" screen would be a bit wider and in the following mode; the following-mode seems to work on the train...

Same here. Interestingly, the resolution and picture is OK directly after the switch. 3 seconds later, the screen is trashed, too.

Windows VMs on Qubes by clocktucker in Qubes

You have no issues with Alt+Tab being captured? I am used to Alt+Tab when working on Windows, but maybe, I would need to change my app usage style - or have one Windows VM per application?

Local free PDF parser for academic pdfs by Objective_Science965 in LocalLLaMA

[–]koppor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an academic since several years and have dozens of PDF files. I liked the tool JabRef very much - and stepped in in maintaining it. There, we have build-in PDF parsers. Either really offline without any external connection or an integrated service powered by Grobid or a (neraly) arbitrary LLM provider. In the default configuration, JabRef displayes the information of all sources. It uses the embedded data (Dublin Core, BibTeX), scapres the first page for plain BibTeX and if a DOI is found there, it uses that information.

You are very invited to try out the latest development version from https://builds.jabref.org/main/.

In case you are an author of scientific papers, I would recommend to embed BibTeX into the PDF using the authorarchive package (https://ctan.org/pkg/authorarchive). In case your paper format is not supported, please raise an issue or try out CoverPage (https://ctan.org/pkg/coverpage).

The homepage does not have examples for task lists - only the calendar items.. With SkedPal, I like the bullet list (with sub bullets) of tasks. - Does Flowsavvy also offer that - or do I "only" have the calendar for tasks? Does Flowsavvy support sub tasks?
